The woman did not know that she was this important to him and that he trusted her this much. Even if she passed him a cup of poison, he would still drink it without qualms, only because she had been the one to pass it onto him.
“Woman, you are mine in this lifetime. If I die, you won’t be any well off.”
Ji Ziming’s icy words had hidden threats, pricking Pei Ge’s heart deeply.
She widened her eyes at him. The strange taste was still lingering between her lips when he moved his mouth to her ear and spoke softly. “Woman, I love you.”
His deep eyes bored into her moist ones as his fair and large hand caressed her cheeks. Seeing the confusion in her eyes, he asked, “Why? Are you so shocked that you have become speechless? Do you need me to repeat myself?”
“No need. I heard you.”
She shook her head, trying to stand up from the sofa. As long as she remained in the same space as he was, she would feel a thick emotion inside her heart. This was the importance she placed on this man in her heart. It was so weighty that she could not bear to let him go.
“Ge Ge, you haven’t answered me.”
He pulled her and stood up.
“What do I need to answer you about?”
She looked at him in surprise. With a perplexed gaze, she continued. “What did you say again?”
“You should tell me if you love me.”
His lips curled up as his eyes lost focus while looking at her.
“Have you finished reading the files?”
She asked after finding a chance to escape from his arms. There was a short distance between them as they stood facing each other. Noticing his confident smile, she knew that it was impossible for her to escape.
No matter how hard she escaped or strove to get away from him, she would never be able to leave this man’s side, for he had already given her too many reasons to be unable to withstand leaving.
The time for the business gathering quickly arrived. Ji Ziming drove Pei Ge to his family’s hotel in his obsidian Rolls-Royce. There were already helpers lining either side, awaiting their arrival.
He Yun was standing at the entrance too in a handsome suit. Seeing their car rolled over, he moved forward and the helpers behind him followed suit.
“Sir, you’re here.”
The Rolls-Royce stopped and he walked forward to open its door.
“How many people have arrived?” asked his boss in a cool voice. Seeing the array here, he inferred that many must have arrived.
“Most of the guests have arrived. Since you invited them, many came early and waited for the banquet’s start before coming out of their rooms.”
The subordinate reported the situation honestly to him.
After hearing this, Ji Ziming let his woman cling onto his arm. The couple entered the hotel under He Yun’s assistance. When they boarded the VIP elevator, it was entirely silent. Even the subordinate, who usually had a lot to say, did not dare to speak.
It was so quiet that one could almost hear another’s heartbeat.
“Ziming, I want to make a trip to a room first.”
Pei Ge held her waist, of which the back was stained red.
“Is something wrong?”
He turned to look at her. Sensing her discomfort and noticing the red stain behind her, he felt heartache for her.
“I’ll bring you to a room. Let’s go.”
The moment the elevator doors parted open, he held her waist and entered a presidential suite. The two helpers standing outside the door opened it for them.
Right after they entered, he shut the door with a bang, then pulled open the zipper on her back. The sight of the blood made his heart bleed.
“When did you start feeling uncomfortable?”
He frowned. His deep eyes were filled to the brim with hurt.
“Earlier in the car. I thought it’s the zipper, so I didn’t pay attention to it, but now it seems that these clothes are the problem, instead.”
She pulled open the zipper and looked at her reflection in the mirror. The red on her back was very stark. There was even some white powder residue on the zipper.
“Ge Ge, I’ll call the doctor over. Wait for me in the room.”
He took a glance at her back. The blood was a shocking sight against her fair and smooth skin.
“No need. The banquet has started, so don’t call the doctor over for me. I’m fine. Just have someone send another set of clothes over to cover this wound.”
She looked at her back. It was specially designed to accentuate her gorgeous back, but now, that seemed to be impossible.
“No need. Listen to me. Wait for the doctor to come.”
His voice was icy-cold. As he stared at the blood on her back, his eyes turned bloodthirsty.
“I’m fine, really. Trust me. I know that I am fine. The red mark hasn’t faded, but it doesn’t mean that it won’t in the future. I am really fine.”
She was very calm as she eyed the clock on the wall. There were fifteen minutes left before the banquet started. There was no time to waste on finding a doctor, but never had she thought that what she overlooked was such a huge issue.
Unable to win against her insistence, the man could only take his phone out to call his secretary. The secretary rushed and sent over a new set of evening gown which covered the wound on her back yet still accentuated her beautiful figure.
The black evening gown had a white lace waistband. The front was V-shaped and vaguely showed her cleavage, enhancing her beauty and making her look even more gorgeous.
“Ge Ge, let me know if you feel uncomfortable. You are the most important one in my eyes. Only you.”
His deep eyes bored into her. She was bound to be the brightest star in the banquet today, for she was his woman and the most beautiful lady out there.
“Okay, I know. Don’t worry. I will take good care of myself.”
Pei Ge nodded. She touched the red stain on her back and it immediately hurt.
“You must tell me the moment you feel uncomfortable.”
