Chapter 1737 - Don’t Make Me Wait Too Long

The three children returned home noisily, but before they even entered the house, they could already smell the enchanting fragrance coming from the house. They could not bear to leave.

“Mommy, what delicious food are you making? I’m so hungry.”

Ran Ran ran into the house first. She was very curious when she saw Pei Ge busy in the kitchen and saw that there were already a few plates on the table.

The dishes inside were exquisite and one could not bear to look away. They were as perfect as a piece of art and one could not bear to eat them.

“You guys, quickly wash your hands. Mommy made your favorite food today.”

Pei Ge smiled at the three children and chased them out of the kitchen. She then busied herself in the kitchen and specially prepared a medium-well steak for Butler Charlie.

“Ge Ge, have you prepared all the dishes?”

Zhang Manhua walked into the kitchen and looked at the dishes on the table. Compared to her meal yesterday, this meal was more homely.

“Mom, you should go out. I’m almost done. You guys can just wait for dinner later.”

Pei Ge chased Zhang Manhua out of the kitchen as well, afraid that the smoke from the cooking would get to her.

On the other hand, the hood was very useful. The kitchen was always busy and there was very little smoke.

“Okay, I’ll go out. I’m waiting to eat the Manchu Han Imperial Feast my daughter made.”

Zhang Manhua smiled. The smile on her face did not reveal any wrinkles at all. Instead, it was because of the gentleness in her eyes, she appeared even softer.

“Okay, hurry and get out.”

She quickly stir-fried the meat in the pot and prepared two dishes at once.

The meal that Zhang Manhua made yesterday was their favorite, but today, she made Zhang Manhua and Qu Xiujie’s favorite. Although her cooking was not as good as her mother’s, it was not bad.

Not long after, the whole family gathered at the dining table. After a lively lunch, Pei Ge brought the three children back to their room for lunch. Just as they were about to take a break, her phone on the coffee table rang. It was Ji Ziming who picked it up.

It was a hoarse and threatening female voice.

“Pei Ge, let me tell you. If you don’t stop Ji Ziming from doing what he did to the Qu family, you won’t know who killed your father.”

“I’ll give you two options. One is to stop Ji Ziming, and the other is to never know what your father wants to say to your mother before he dies.”

“Don’t regret it. I’ll wait for your news, but don’t make me wait too long.”

Ji Ziming did not say anything. After the other party hung up, he carefully checked the number on Pei Ge’s phone, only to find that there was only one call.

This person’s voice sounded so familiar.

Luckily, Ji Ziming was smart and the moment the call connected, he pressed the recording button. Even if that person had a voice-changing technique, it would not matter. Bi Zheng would always be able to analyze her original voice.

Pei Ge finally coaxed the three children to sleep. When she reached downstairs, she only saw Ji Ziming in the living room and casually asked, “Where did mom and uncle go?”

“They went to the backyard to fish.”

Ji Ziming’s voice was cold. He was unsure if Pei Ge was hiding something from him and was investigating his father’s death by herself.

“Fishing? How enjoyable.”

Pei Ge’s lips curled up. It had been a long time since she had seen her mother in such high spirits. If Zhang Manhua and Qu Xiujie were to compete in a fishing competition, Zhang Manhua might not be Qu Xiujie’s match.

But not Charlie the butler.

“Ge Ge, someone just called you.”

Ji Ziming’s voice was cold and quiet. The moment he said that, the surrounding air seemed to quieten down. However, before he could think of how to explain to Pei Ge that he had answered her call, she had already explained herself.

“I once asked someone to help me investigate what happened to my father before the car accident. Also, I haven’t found out who Yang Hua is, so I entrusted him to someone else.”

“Then why didn’t you tell me?”

Ji Ziming was not concerned about who Pei Ge was looking for. He was only concerned that she did not look for him when she wanted to find out about this. Instead, she went to look for someone outside.

“You were busy back then, so I…”

Pei Ge stammered. That was when Ji Miao committed suicide in prison. Sire Nine, who came to visit, did not give in at all and insisted on Ji Ziming giving an explanation.

“Ge Ge, you must know that in my heart, no one is more important than you or your matters. We’ve been together for so long, yet you still don’t understand my heart?”

Ji Ziming’s eyes were filled with hurt. The woman in front of him, the woman he loved the most, did not find him when she needed help the most.

“That’s not what I meant. You have to believe me; I really didn’t mean it that way.”

Pei Ge walked forward and her heart ached even more when she saw the gentleness and pain in his eyes.

Her clear face was filled with apology as she looked into his eyes gently.

“How many times have you looked for her?”

Ji Ziming’s voice was cold as he skipped over the fact that Pei Ge did not look for him but was more concerned about Pei Ge’s matter. The final result was the most important.

“Before today, I looked for her once, but her asking price was very high, so I stopped looking for her.”

Pei Ge told him everything that had happened and Ji Ziming calmly analyzed it. Shortly after sending the audio to Bi Zheng, he received a message from him.

“It’s her original voice.”

“Ziming, did you find something?”

She watched him hold the phone and asked carefully.

“I sent the audio to Bi Zheng and asked him to check if it’s the original voice. If it’s not, he can help me produce it.”

“It’s her original voice, I know.”

She looked at him.

“You know?”

Ji Ziming looked at Pei Ge with his deep eyes. The woman in front of him did not seem to be that ignorant.

“Of course. I’ve already asked someone to check this number. I’m sure it’s her original voice.”

“Alright, since you know about it, that makes things simple.”

He lowered his head and exited from the app.
