As soon as He Yuan arrived in the system space, he walked over to his bed but instead of going to sleep to rejuvenate himself like other times, he sat still. Staring into nothingness.
888 sighed and walked over to the office chair, letting his long hair down in the process. "One of the not so fantastic perks of being a tasker is having to cut ties with people you end up caring about. That's why taskers should never get attached to the inhabitants of a realm."
He Yuan smiled dryly. He just couldn't stop the ache in his heart. He didn't plan to get attached to little Xiwang, he just didn't want the boy to suffer because he saw his own self in the kid.
"Do you think he ended up okay?" He asked the system.
888 shrugged. "Who knows? I'm pretty sure the kid would manage though."
He Yuan nodded and meditated for a bit. He wanted to do the usual practice of absolving himself from his experience in the life of the leaser but when he looked through the memories of him and Cao Xiwang, he decided against it. They were good memories.
After sometime, He Yuan opened his eyes and clicked on his stats panel.

He Yuan frowned when he saw the number of his exp points. "I thought I had 32k exp points left?"
888 rolled his eyes. "5k exp points had been deducted in order to convert the martial arts manual for you to take out of that realm."
He Yuan's eyes widened 5k exp points for a manual that had just three pages of instructions whilst the rest were blank? Isn't that robbery? His mind drifted to the price of the manuals in the marketplace and he sighed.
Never mind. It was still better than paying 3.5M exp points in the system marketplace. He didn't even have that amount.
He Yuan looked at the second row of the panel, to his soul energy and then he froze. He wasn't seeing wrong right? Cao Yuemei had given him just 5 soul energy.
888 had told him that as a novice, the minimum soul wage he would get from the leasers was 50 soul energy so what was this? He had spent a little over ten years in the last task realm and all he got was 5 soul energy?!
"#****#, *####*, £&#&£+, 8#[email protected](":;*!!" He Yuan stood up angrily and released a long string of curses that made 888 flinch repeatedly.
888 stared wide eyed and blushed in embarrassment at the dirty things that just flew out of his host's mouth. How could anyone be this uncouth? Are these the kind of words that should be coming out of the mouth of a former CEO?
"HOW COULD SHE DO THIS?!" He Yuan heaved as he walked about the room. "Is this even allowed? Wasn't a contract signed before the task was given out?"
He came to a stop in front of the seated system. "How do I reach the HR department? Well since taskers are souls it's supposed to be SR, how do I reach them?"
888 cleared his throat. "You don't. According to the contract, the amount of soul energy given would be based on leaser satisfaction."
"I don't even get to see the leasers how do I know what would satisfy them?! I can't read minds!" He Yuan exclaimed as he waved his arms about.
888 shrugged. "That's how it is for all novice taskers. You'd have to get to the intermediate level to draft your own contracts and discuss the terms with the leasers before each task realm."
He Yuan deflated and walked back to collapse on the bed. He wondered what exactly Cao Yuemei wanted. It could be Wan Ruo, alive, or Cao Long's preference or the death of Cao Luomei and her harem members.
It could be anything and everything at the same time.
He Yuan sat up on the bed and fiddled with his fingers. Maybe he didn't actually perform the counterattack well enough? There was no way he could've saved Wan Ruo, her death was natural.
He couldn't also win Cao Long's preference because the problem was never what kind of person Cao Yuemei was. The problem was that Cao Yuemei was not the child of Cao Long's first love so the man would never have treated her better than Cao Luomei.
He Yuan ran his hands through his hair in frustration. If only... He suddenly looked at 888. "888, is there a way for me to check on what happens in a completed task realm?"
888 shrugged again. "3k exp points but you only get to see the life of the leaser."
"What of the other inhabitants?" He Yuan asked expectantly.
"You only see them at the points they come into contact with the leaser."
"Fine." He Yuan agreed and watched as his points reduced by 3k and a different panel appeared before him.
The clip played in speed mode but he was able to keep up and at the end of the clip;
'...' He Yuan was speechless and even 888 was a little dumbfounded.
First of all, Cao Yuemei laid her hand on Xiwang?! He Yuan was boiling. After taking steady breaths, he was able to calm down. "Cao Yuemei overtook Cao Luomei's harem?" He asked himself quietly. Is it that easy to forgive your murderers?
888 sighed. "I don't think you should keep beating up yourself over this task. Just as the selection for taskers is totally random, the leasers' selection is also random. The only difference is that the scope of the leasers' selection is smaller because they have to be connected to the special ones.
-In the end, this just means that not all leasers are actually good people. There are times when you might be compelled to counterattack for a horrible villain so you just have to make sure you fix the realm and get out before things get out of hand."
He Yuan remained silent. He wondered what happened to Cao Xiwang. Was the kid really okay?
888 stood up. "If it makes you feel any better, you're now eligible to appear in The Community."
He Yuan arched a brow. "The Community?" He'd always been curious about it from the first time 888 mentioned it.
888 remained silent and instead pointed towards the left part of the wall. He Yuan's eyes widened. He was only just realizing that a door had appeared in the space.
He stood up from the bed and walked over to open the door.
