As soon as He Yuan opened his eyes, a large whip appeared in front of his face. He instinctively raised his hands to block the whip and its barbed exterior pierced into his flesh and whipped him faraway.
A sword fell from his hand and He Yuan soon found himself on the ground, bleeding and looking up at the platform he'd just fallen off of.
HA HA!
HA!
The entire arena full of people erupted in laughter.
"BAH!"
"WHAT TRASH!"
"I can't belief he was betrothed to goddess mianmian!"
"Ha Ha. Yeah, what were they thinking?"
"Hiss!" He Yuan sucked his teeth when he stared at his bleeding arm. The barbed whip had torn off tiny chunks of his flesh and left bleeding holes behind.
The owner of the whip walked over to the edge of the platform and looked down on the bleeding He Yuan condescendingly. It was a young lady in flowing white robes. She had skin as clear as jade and beauty enough to topple cities. Even her voice was enchanting as she said, "Mo Sheng! Remember our deal. You promised that if I defeated you then the engagement would be called off.
-You better stop going over to make trouble for Jiu-ge. With this bit of talent, it's a wonder Jiu-ge hasn't beaten you to death yet. There was no love between us and this marriage agreement was only for the benefit of our sects. Don't come running over to me anymore!"
He Yuan only stared at the lady and the large crowd of people seated in the arena. Next, he stood up from the ground, clutched his bleeding arm and walked away.
He had no idea where he was going but he went on anyways. He felt very dizzy from the soul travel and coupled with the fact that he was basically bleeding out, he needed to find a safe spot to tend to wounds before he lost consciousness and died.
It would be a huge shame to die even before he understood what was happening.
"MO SHENG! You better not play dumb!" The young lady shouted after him but He Yuan ignored the screaming banshee and stumbled away.
He Yuan kept walking about. He spotted a lot of people wearing the same kind of green robes as his but their gazes were full of mockery and scorn. He soon stumbled upon a medicinal farm and a small shed. He tried to open the shed but there seemed to be a barrier blocking him.
With no other option, he walked around the shed to the back and settled himself against the wall. This side had longer medicinal plants so he was quite hidden.
Next, He Yuan clicked open his system storage and brought out his first aid kit with a sigh. He quickly patched himself up -without the band aid of course, there was no way he would be able to explain that so he cut out strips from his robes and sterilized them before using them to wrap his wounds.
Once he was done, He Yuan was finally prepared to receive the storyline of this realm.
The leaser's name, as he'd already noticed earlier, was Mo Sheng. A child born of a man from the righteous cultivators faction and a powerful female cultivator from the demonic cultivators faction.
The two factions were always at odds so when his parents were discovered, both factions had sent out people to kill them. The powerful female cultivator had killed legions of both the righteous and demon cultivators but it wasn't enough.
When her lover died in the siege, her heart broke and she lost her drive to live so she sealed the demonic half of her child and hid him away in some bushes before rushing over to the siege once more and exploded her core, taking down thousands with her.
Hours later, a passing elder from a righteous sect had discovered a baby in the bushes. Willing it to be the work of fate, the elder paid no mind that the baby had traces of demonic energy and had named him Mo Sheng before taking the boy along with him to become his first disciple.
The elder tried his best to break the seal but with no success so he gave up. The child might be stunted due to this but he didn't worry too much. In fact, he felt that it was for the best as people weren't very accepting of human-demon hybrids yet.
Three years down the line, a child was abandoned in front of the sect gates of the Duoluo sect. A lot of elders and even the sect leader had rejected the kid as they couldn't sense his roots but elder Mo, the same elder who had taken in Mo Sheng, accepted the two year old child as his second disciple in his mountain peak.
This child happened to be the special one of this realm, Mo Jiu.
Two years later, it was discovered that Mo Jiu indeed had a root, it was just hard to detect. Mo Jiu was considered a genius that could only be found in ten thousand years. He had 'heaven defying' talent and at age six, he'd already entered the Qi gathering stage. At age ten, he was at the late stage of Foundation establishment.
The fact that Mo Jiu was able to achieve this so young had shocked the entire sect because it was something that was only possible at the age of eighteen for average cultivators and sixteen for the extremely talented ones.
An average cultivator was usually able to enter the Qi gathering stage at the age of twelve and it took them, at least, six years to reach the early stage of Foundation establishment. The seven levels of cultivation were; Qi gathering stage, Foundation establishment, Core formation, Nascent soul, Spirit severing, Dao seeking and Immortal ascension.
The time it took to move up a level was not small as each level was further subdivided into the early, middle, late and peak stages.
Mo Sheng, on the other hand, was basically a cultivation trash as even at the age of fourteen, he was still unable to enter the Qi gathering stage.
This led to constant comparison between him and Mo Jiu. The other disciples always made fun of the fact that Mo Sheng, as the daxiong, was so useless compared to his shidi hence he brought shame to their master, elder Mo.
Mo Sheng was heartbroken whenever he was compared to Mo Jiu and he tried his utmost best to level up but no matter what he did, nothing worked.
As much as Mo Jiu had heaven defying talent, he also had heaven defying luck and was always able to encounter enlightenment opportunities and heaven defying artifacts whether or not he was in a tough situation.
Even when he had to fight enemies five stages above his own stage, he always came out victorious and with a divine level artifact as souvenir.
When Mo Sheng was only one, he'd been betrothed to two year old Shen Mianmian, the daughter of the sect leader of the Tianmo sect. Being the first disciple -and only disciple of elder Mo at that time- a lot of people had high expectations for the young boy.
Elder Mo was regarded even higher than the sect leader of the Duoluo sect as he was the first person in a thousand years to have reached the middle stage of Immortal Ascension.
When Mo Jiu was later accepted by elder Mo and as he showed his heaven defying talent, the sect leader of the Tianmo sect had regretted his hasty decision. Mo Jiu was much more talented than Mo Sheng even if both boys were age mates.
The first issue that arose between the leaser and the special one was when both boys were fifteen and Shen Mianmain had encountered Mo Jiu in a tournament.
The special one had beaten all the other disciples of the other sects and had immediately snatched the hearts of numerous beauties -both male and female- present, Shen Mianmian included.
The female cultivator had rushed over to her father to throw a tantrum about why she was had been betrothed to the talentless one out of elder Mo's two disciples.
The sect leader also expressed his dissatisfaction but he couldn't do anything as he was the one who had proposed the betrothal in the first place and canceling it would provoke enmity between the two sects.
Elder Mo was a master at the middle stage Immortal ascension. Although others had achieved that stage after elder Mo, he did not have an Immortal ascension powerhouse in his own sect so angering elder Mo was basically asking for his entire sect to be wiped off.
Shen Mianmian had no choice but to drop the matter with a heart full of grievance.
The older Mo Jiu grew, the more handsome he became and at age seventeen, he was already beginning to gather his harem starting from the female master of the alchemy peak in the Duoluo sect.
Shen Mianmian also made it her mission to always visit the Duoluo sect but instead of meeting up with her betrothed, she spent all her time with her betrothed's shidi, Mo Jiu.
Mo Sheng was a bit hurt by this fact but he didn't let it get to him. After all, it wasn't a crime for Shen Mianmian to hang around Mo Jiu. He was so talented after all and she might even achieve enlightenment from one or two of his lectures.
That was until he walked in on them one time, with Mo Jiu enlightening Shen Mianmian's olive garden inbetween her legs with the sword inbetween his legs.
