Xing Mei and Mu Qingqing rushed forward to block He Yuan's attack at the same time. He Yuan added extra pressure on Xiatian and both women leaped away swiftly.
"Mo Sheng, what are you trying to do?!" Xing Mei shouted with her sword pointed at him.
He Yuan remained silent and sent his weapon glare towards Mo Jiu. Seeing that Mo Jiu had jumped away from the attack, hence creating distance between him and the inheritance, His shoulders relaxed a little.
"Mo Sheng!" Mo Jiu pulled out Huoyan and pointed it at He Yuan. "I got here first, so the inheritance should belong to me, why are you doing this?"
He Yuan scoffed. "You always spout bullshit about this world being one where the strong ruled and now you want me to wait my turn? No!" And then he shot forward like an arrow with Xiatian pointed right at Mo Jiu's throat.
CLASH!
Mo Jiu held Huoyan vertically to block He Yuan's attack. "Mo Sheng!" He grit his teeth with eyes full of fury. Just why was this man everywhere?!
He Yuan remained silent. He was covered in wounds and might not last long but he refused to give up. He opted instead for stepping backwards and attacking again at a different angle.
CLASH!
CLANG!
CLASH!
The two of them exchanged three more moves before separating at the same time and leaping several steps backwards.
He Yuan's eyes trailed to Mo Jiu's lower half and then his lips lifted in a mocking smile. It seems his little acupuncture has been working just fine. "Tsk, tsk, shidi. Just what sick fantasies are you cooking up in that head of yours for you to be able to get it up at a time like this, hm?"
Mo Jiu finally realized why his lovers had gone silent. They were all staring right at the tent in his robes with equal looks of bewilderment.
He had been ignoring the pain but now that his attention had been brought to it, it hurt a lot more and he couldn't help but gasp in pain as a wet patch formed on his robes.
Chu Leng's eyes widened in shock. What the... heck?
Mo Jiu's face reddened from embarrassment. "WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT?!" He directed at his lovers. "KILL HIM!"
The four cultivators were all shocked out of stupor and immediately began to attack He Yuan. They wondered what was up with Mo Jiu's reaction but now was not the time. They needed to get rid of the pest first.
"CLANG, CLASH, CRASH, BANG.
He Yuan popped a bunch of revival pills in his mouth and fended off their attacks as Mo Jiu walked back to the the inheritance. Seeing no progress, he quickly changed into his demon form and his fighting power increased.
Xing Mei scoffed and also changed into her demon form. Unlike He Yuan, she was a full blooded demonic cultivator so her form directly increased her cultivation level. She was now in pseudo Spirit severing level.
He Yuan groaned inwardly as cold sweat broke out on his skin. He would have been able to fend them off fairly easily but he had been injured due to all the fighting he'd done to get to this room. With Xing Mei's demon form, the opposition had gained the upper hand. He was only holding on based on sheer will.
As soon as Mo Jiu laid a hand on the inheritance, a bright light shone, directly broke through the top of the room and shot straight to the sky.
Ten miles away from their location, two cultivators were huddled together, splitting the spoils they'd gotten from teaming up and killing a high level spirit beast.
"Haha. Good, good!" The first one said. "We-" He suddenly paused and his eyes widened as he pointed at a long stream of light reaching the sky. He might be faraway but the light was so powerful he could see it clearly. "What is that?!"
The other one turned around. "Wow. There's been no record of such a thing happening in the secret realm before. Let's go check it out!"
The two quickly packed up and rode in the direction of the light.
In a different location, a cultivator's eyes widened. It couldn't possibly the Dao ancestor's inheritance calling out to him right? He must check it out!
At different locations, the seventy cultivators left all began rushing towards the light at top speed.
Back at the sacred room, He Yuan quickly took out all the hidden weapons he owned and began throwing them everywhere.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BANG!
"AAAHHH!"
Two medium grade daggers pierced Chu Feng's stomach. Chu Leng's eyes widened and he quickly turned away from He Yuan to aid his wounded twin with an insane amount of pills.
Xing Mei and Mu Qingqing did not relent as they took out their own hidden weapons and launched them at He Yuan even as they dodged his.
Mo Jiu now had both hands placed on the core with a barrier around him and eyebrows furrowed in intense focus.
He Yuan's heart shook and the hand holding Xiatian trembled. He didn't have any time left! He had planned to kill them all and destroy the inheritance but his current state was not ideal. Furthermore, that beacon that the inheritance had sent out had probably alerted the other cultivators to this spot.
Even if he managed to keep Mo Jiu from absorbing it, he could not afford to have someone else claim it. The inheritance was the major cause of the power imbalance that caused a rift in this task realm.
The result would still be the same no matter who absorbed it. He Yuan couldn't go about killing every cultivator that arrived for the inheritance. At present, he was already straining himself to hold these ones off and he could feel himself losing.
He had to quickly think up a new plan.
Mo Jiu tried with all his might to draw the inheritance into his dantian but his state was not helping.
Focus.
Focus was the number one thing every cultivator was taught.
Focus was the one thing he did not have now.
"Shit!" The pain from his groin was just too much, Mo Jiu couldn't focus. He'd given up on cleansing spells so the wet patch on his robes was much bigger and a musky smell was wafting up to his nose.
Mo Jiu shook his head repeatedly. The barrier he'd put around himself was getting repeatedly weaker. The annoying part was that it was taking up too much of his attention.
He took one quick look around and, even if he found that Mo Sheng was having difficulty fighting off his lovers, he did not to let down the barrier surrounding him. What if something went wrong? He wasn't stupid. He knew they were tons of others coming this way at this point.
Mo Jiu turned his focus back to the core. He needed to try harder. He never let obstacles stop him before, he wasn't about to start now. This was his only way out if he wanted to live a life free of worry and threats!
CLASH!
He Yuan continued to exchange moves with the three -including Chu Leng who had left his now unconscious twin to face him once more. He had been closely observing Mo Jiu's barrier as that was the only thing holding him back from making his move.
As soon as he noticed the barrier flicker because Mo Jiu turned all his focus to the inheritance core, He Yuan struck. He quickly took out seven metal balls, sending three Mo Jiu's way before blowing all of them up at the same time.
BOOM!
The function of the metal ball was to cause a disorientation with a cultivator's spiritual power for 10 seconds. Mu Qingqing and Chu Leng lagged immediately whilst Xing Mei resisted for a few seconds. One of the balls deactivated Mo Jiu's barrier and the other two struck the man.
Mo Jiu only paused for two seconds but that was all He Yuan needed from all of them.
He took out his silver needles and flicked it straight at each of them, sending five of them Mo Jiu's way at lightening speed. Next,
He Yuan suddenly collapsed in front of everyone.
Everyone froze in confusion before Mo Jiu grit his teeth and went back to absorbing the inheritance. Mu Qingqing and Chu Leng were still disoriented whilst Xing Mei shook her to clear her mind head and stalked over to He Yuan.
She all had no idea why Mo Sheng had suddenly fainted but this was perfect. Xing Mei raised her sword up in the air and struck down.
CLATTER!
Before he sword could hit He Yuan, the weapon suddenly fell from her fingers and every single person in the room collapsed at the same time -with Mu Qingqing falling at Mo Jiu's feet, right in front of the raised platform.
He Yuan opened his eyes, stood up and walked over to Mo Jiu -taking heavy breaths as he did. He felt so tired. He had mock fainted before everyone else in order to keep up appearances for his new plan. If it was discovered that he destroyed the inheritance, the the entire cultivation realm would come after Mo Sheng.
The secret dimension was something that was collectively owned by all sects, cultivation clans and the Bureau -a treaty had been signed over it. The reason Mo Jiu had been able to shut everyone up in the storyline was because he had already absorbed the inheritance and was all powerful.
He Yuan took out a teleportation talisman, picked Mo Jiu up and teleported two miles away. Once he set Mo Jiu down, he called back his needles, searched around until he found the cloaking talisman on Mo Jiu and tore it to pieces before teleporting back with another talisman.
He had no idea how long it would take to destroy the inheritance so he couldn't waste time.
Once He Yuan arrived, in the sacred room, he walked over to the inheritance and nudged Mu Qingqing away with his foot. Although he was destroying the inheritance, he wasn't going to destroy the realm. After all, they were precious life forms within.
He had discovered that after he had destroyed the ten-thousand-year old beast core years ago, the energy contained within had spread throughout the Spirit beast forest as nourishment.
He was going to do the same thing here. Once the inheritance was broken, the rift that connected this realm to his task realm would be destroyed and both realms would be independent of each other. It was just his theory though, he had no way to know for sure but he was going to try anyways.
Slowly, He Yuan began to input his spiritual energy into the inheritance core. He could sense cultivators getting close so he adjusted his position and put more spiritual energy into the inheritance. There was no time left. To absorb the inheritance, the force within was meant to be drawn into a cultivator's dantian. He was doing the total opposite. Hopefully, it would work out.
Thirty out of the seventy cultivators arrived at the desert at the same time. They eyed each other warily as they got closer and closer to the source of the light.
When they were close enough, they noticed a gaping hole in the ground. At the end of that hole, all they could see were hands clutching a bright core and some parts of a cultivator wearing the orange robes of the Tianmo sect unconscious on the ground. They all rushed forward at the same time but before they could go down,
BOOM!
A loud blast shot straight at the sky, blowing them miles away. They all lost consciousness.
He Yuan grit his teeth and continued to pour his spiritual power into the core. He felt weak. So weak. His head and heart was pounding so hard but he continued. The full brunt of the blast shot straight at the sky so he was safe.
The core dwindled as more light shot out until all that was left was a tiny pebble. With no other option, He Yuan stored the pebble in his storage ring and collapsed on the ground. He gasped and bit his lips to keep himself awake as he slowly crawled to his earlier position.
He really wanted to handle Mo Jiu's unconscious minions but he was too tired and all his strength was pooled into keeping himself awake. He called back his needles and slowly absorbed the surrounding qi as he laid weakly on the cold, hard floor.
Outside, the bright light spread and spread until it encompassed the entire secret dimension. Next, the cultivators that remained were forcefully ejected from the realm, appearing at different parts of the town close to Linyun Canyon and some in the arena itself.
The new batch of cultivators that arrived in front of the hole were ejected into the same spot as Mo Jiu's unconscious lovers and, of course, the 'unconscious' He Yuan.
It was underneath a large spirit tree in the forest close to the portal location. The cultivators stood up and rushed over to the five people lying unconscious on the forest ground.
"Do you think they know something about it?" A cultivator said.
"Who knows, they might have arrived at the same time as us and couldn't handle the force of ejection."
"I think I recognize that one. She was unconscious next to the unknown person that had held that bright core!"
Some of the cultivators eyed the the precious robes the five were wearing and itched to grab them but other cultivators were present and they couldn't afford to disgrace their sects.
Xing Mei was the first to regain consciousness. She looked around the unfamiliar surrounding and the cultivators present before frowning and pushing herself off the ground whilst eyeing the cultivators wearily. "Where's brother Jiu?"
Before anyone could speak, Mu Qingqing woke up and looked around. "Jiu-gege?"
He Yuan barely contained his smile as he also 'woke up' and glared straight at Xing Mei and Mu Qingqing.
The females clutched their swords and glared back at him. "Mo Sheng!"
He Yuan slowly stood up. He was aching all over but made sure to keep his expression stone cold as he glared at the females. "You're happy aren't you. Mo Jiu had absorbed the inheritance!"
Some of the surrounding cultivators froze in shock. Mo Jiu had absorbed the inheritance? Which Mo Jiu? How did he get in, talk less of absorbing the inheritance?!
"What do you mean? The inheritance is not meant to belong to just one person alone!" A cultivator called out. If he had the chance, he would also want the inheritance for himself but now that someone else had gotten it first, he couldn't stand it!
"That is the reason we were forcefully ejected right? What has this so called Mo Jiu done?!" A female cultivator said in pure rage.
Xing Mei sneered at the female cultivator who had spoken. "So what if he absorbed the inheritance? There is no one more deserving of it!" She was feeling so happy, she sent He Yuan a gloating look. Brother Jiu had successfully absorbed the inheritance!
It didn't matter if these small fries were aware or not, brother Jiu was already undefeatable. Although... Where did he go? She wondered once more as she looked around.
He Yuan smiled as he took in the constipated faces of the cultivators all around.
His task was complete.
