The loud chants began to make the audience in the hall very uncomfortable and a lot of them turned their sights on He Yuan.
A reporter couldn't hold back anymore. He looked towards the mandron behind the force field and raised his voice above the chants of the protesters to say, "Mr. Yang, what do you have to say about the current state of things?"
He Yuan merely folded his arms across his chest and shrugged disinterestedly. This was the best the Dings could come up with? Well... He relaxed back on his chair and poked the inside of his cheek with his tongue... Since they all wanted to sleep here, he'd see how long they could last.
Seeing that Yang Xue wasn't even taking them seriously, the anger of the protesters rose to a new height and they all increased the tempo of their chants. Some of them directly gave up and settled on shouting out the cruelest insults they could think of at He Yuan.
A couple more reporters slipped out of their seats and rushed over to the Ding parents. They had been waiting for this moment since Yang Xue's stance at the Spaceship dock but no one had gotten the chance to speak to the Dings yet. How could they miss this opportunity now?
Jin Qi discreetly distanced herself from the Ding parents but paid acute attention because she also wanted to know more details.
One of the reporters finally spoke up, "Mrs Xia, Mr. Ding. Mr. Yang had stated a few contradictory facts at the dock a few days ago. Were his words true? Was there really no form of alliance between him and your family?
-Did the both of you really make up the lie about the General recovering on his own the first time in order to make the Ding family appear more imposing?"
Before the Xia Yueyu and Ding Wang could say a word, another reporter chimed in. "Now that your actions are affecting the chances of the General recovering safely, how do you both feel about that? How do the both of you plan on compensating Mr. Yang and coaxing him into cooperating with you?"
Yet another reporter chimed in. "Is all Mr Yang asking for truly an apology or is there something else? If it isn't something else then why hasn't the Dings offered up an apology yet? Could it be that Mr. Yang is, in fact, the one in the wrong here and the Ding family has been silent because you need the mandron's help and have no other choice?"
A few protesters heard the last question and thinking that there was a possibility that the Dings were not even at fault in the first place, their insults on He Yuan increased in vulgarity and soon words like slut, whore and mentally disabled were being thrown out.
"ENOUGH!"
The loud command reverberated throughout the hall and the reporters and protesters slowed to a stop beforing looking to the stage with wide eyes.
On the sixth sit high up on the podium sat the Sixth Marshal. A scholarly looking andronian woman who was rumoured to be horridly cruel on the battlefield. The wrinkles on her forehead was prominent but did nothing to diminish her overall good looks.
Looking around the hall, the Sixth Marshal's gaze settled on the back of He Yuan's head before moving on to the protesters. The current situation was one big inconvenience for her. At the moment, none of the Twelve army base Planets had their Marshals on seat due to this press conference.
She came here to see results about the future of her army and not to watch a couple of civilians cry like babies because they felt other people were obligated to make a decision that would please them!
Either way... She turned sideways in the direction of the Third Marshal. "Since things have come to this, why not have General Ding be brought here? We were about to see a demonstration of the mandron's ability to absorb the magnetic energy anyways so why not use a living specimen directly?"
She did not want to hear the protesters whine and she also wanted to get the results she was here for so why not just use one stone to kill two birds and let everyone leave here in satisfaction?
He Yuan watched as the eyes of the everyone turned to the Third Marshal behind him but he remained silent. Having Ding Weimin here was not a bad idea. In fact, it was for the best as everything could be swiftly dealt with.
Meanwhile, the Third Marshal remained silent for a couple of seconds as he weighed the pros and cons in his mind. A reinforced section could be set up on the stage and his grandson could be hidden behind a curtain as the process took place. His eyes trailed to He Yuan.
The mandron agreed so easily? He couldn't even stand this little bit of pressure and yet he wanted the merits back? The Third Marshal shook his head. He'd given the mandron too much credit. He turned to nod at the Sixteenth Marshal. "It shall be arranged." And then he began clicking away on his bracelet.
Cheers rang out the hall as the protesters celebrated their 'victory.' Even Ding Wang and Xia Yueyu were pleasantly surprised. They'd just been planning on admitting the truth and using the force of the protesters to pressure Yang Xue but it seemed like they had overthought things after all.
It was a good thing the P.R Institute suddenly set up this press conference and it was even better that they'd been able to grasp this opportunity within a few hours.
It hadn't been easy to instigate the people to this magnitude in a few hours but it was very much worth it in the end.
The security personnels took action then and the protesters were quickly silenced. Even the reporters had to regretfully walk back to their seats. They hadn't gotten any replies to their questions yet!
With the thin thread of peace settling in the hall, calls were made and soon enough, the protesters outside the conference venue had to give way for a couple of technicians to take piles of adamantine glass into the hall to set up the reinforced structure on the podium.
Some reporters used this chance to sneakily get closer to the podium and try to get Yang Xue to give his opinions on things but he remained unresponsive so they just turned to their seats in another wave of disappointment.
The minute the reinforced section was set up, the Head scientist who had moved to the side during the chaos earlier, took the stage once more and decided to while away time by giving out more information on the examination carried out. The anticipation could be heard from his voice as he spoke.
After all, he hadn't been able to examine Yang Xue against a living specimen so his curiosity was peaked. It was the same for his colleagues as they too kept glancing towards the entrance with impatient looks.
Another set of people were impatient and that was of course... Every single person in the hall besides He Yuan. Although all for different reasons.
The protesters were eager to see their General and have him praise them -once he was healed- for fighting for him. Ten out of twelve Marshals, the Government officials, the top figures and the audience just wanted to see the potential of Yang Xue's genes.
The reporters were of course eager for anything news worthy -whether it was the potential of Yang Xue's genes or spicy gossip. Xia Yueyu and Ding Wang were all for their son's well being, Jin Qi was just trying to figure out her next course of action and as for the remaining people...
They were the Second and Third Marshals. The former was looking forward to two things, Ding Weimin's come back and the potential of Yang Xue's genes whilst the latter just wanted his grandson well again so he could think of how to properly deal with the audacious mandron once all was clear.
On the surface, everyone was trying to maintain their composure but under the surface, the hall was riddled with tension and He Yuan watched all of this calmly.
Another thirty minutes later, screams were heard coming from the outside of the hall and the large double doors opened up to reveal ten armoured soldiers all carrying a large metal capsule.
"IT- IT'S THE GENERAL!"
The large shout came from somewhere in the middle of the crowd of two hundred protesters and cheers soon rang out. Although the metal capsule was not transparent, they were all understanding of their General's present situation and still felt fortunate to be in the same room as him!
He Yuan watched as the capsule was brought up to the podium -the force field was taken down earlier when the technicians came in to set up the adamantine glass so nothing impeded the movement of the armoured soldiers.
As soon as the capsule was lowered into the adamantine section from the top and shut close, a dark red curtain covered up the transparent glass and an electronic chime was heard after, signalling the opening of the capsule.
He Yuan looked calmly away.
The head scientist cleared his throat excitedly. Machines had been connected to the adamantine section so even if the General was unable to be seen, his vitals could still be read and they would miss nothing.
"I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING!" A protester couldn't hold herself back from screaming as she shook the fellow protester beside her. How could she not? She was going to witness her hero herocally overcome the magnetic energy in person! What an honour!
The head scientist finally turned to He Yuan once everything was set up. "Mr. Yang, please step into the adjoining tube and begin the process. This was a bit sudden so I'm going to give up the stage for the Ding family reaseachers. Since you've worked with them once before, you should know what to do."
And then he stepped back to allow a two people in lab coats to oversee the situation.
He Yuan recognized them from the original timeline. The same researchers who had been the first to research about Yang Xue's genes and handle the first extraction process back then.
He calmly stood up from his seat and looked over to the reinforced area a few meters away. Ding Weimin was seriously thinking he could just waltz in here and have Yang Xue aid him just like that? Ha.
To the confusion of everyone, He Yuan didn't walk over to the reinforced section but walked a few steps to the metal tube that had been placed besides his chair before the press conference.
The same metal tube containing the swirling blue magnetic energy gotten from the potential major Planet's orbit and then he smiled sweetly at the researchers. "You wanted me to absorb some magnetic energy for all to see?" He placed his hand right into the tiny outlet fitted into the metal tube. "Let's begin."
At the same time, every single person in the hall blinked in sheer bewilderment. Did they miss something?
888, on the other hand, couldn't stop himself from chuckling at his host. [You troll.]
