Chapter 134: Last Minutes

Name:Re: Apocalypse Game Author:
Upon his arrival in the room, Alan was met with a harrowing sight. Milo, the boxer, was being mercilessly crushed into the wall by the relentless Mutant. Milo's fists clenched around the creature, showing his unwavering determination even in the face of certain doom.

This gives chance for Merle to desperately stab the mutant with his combat knife, while Daniel swings his axe with all his might.

On the other side of the room, the dire situation was evident. Sharon and Jason lay on the ground, incapacitated and unable to continue the fight. The burden of their survival rested on Marcus, who, in his Wolf form, used his regeneration skill to withstand the Mutant's ferocious assault and tackle it to the ground.

With the Mutants being handled, Alan's attention shifted to the last remaining Nazi in the room. The Nazi scientist seemingly intent on making a desperate escape, found himself face-to-face with Alan, who stood resolutely between him and the exit. Alan aimed his shotgun directly at the Nazi's head, prepared to deliver the fatal blow. Yet, amidst the tension, Alan had another objective in mind.

"Tell me who you are," Alan demanded, hoping to trigger a bonus mission related to the elusive [Experiment Note].

However, just as Alan was about to press further, Vicky's voice rang out, carrying a note of distress. "Alan... Milo... he's gone." Her sorrow was palpable, as she blamed herself for being unable to save the boxer, even though she knew he would revive thanks to his extra survival points.

Distracted by Vicky's words, Alan momentarily let his guard down, allowing the Nazi scientist to make a desperate dash for freedom. However, Marcus, in his wolf form, reacted with lightning speed. He lunged at the scientist, striking his chest with razor-sharp claws, and ended the fleeing man's life with a swift, brutal snap of his neck.

"NOOO!!" Alan shouted in frustration at the missed opportunity for information.

Marcus replied with an annoyed expression. "Why do need you to talk to him?! Finish the mission and go!"

[You successfully kill the Nazi scientist]

[You have completed E level quest]

[You received E rank reward x1]

[You received 1000 survival points, 1000 XP]

As the notification for the mission completion flashed on the screen, Marcus sprang into action, swiftly collecting his two wounded comrades and rushing them out of the danger zone, away from the debilitating radiation level 5. The veterans were all too aware of the dire consequences they would face if they perished in this irradiated environment, suffering a double penalty.

With the mission successfully accomplished, Merle, another veteran, grew anxious about the escalating radiation levels. He urged Alan to leave as well, but Alan remained rooted in place. His body trembled with a mix of excitement and anticipation, for the scientist had inadvertently left behind the item he had been seeking.

[Experiment note #3: The Instruction]

[Here are the detailed instructions on how to proceed in turning our best into the proud supersoldiers of the empire....]

"Alan, what are you doing? Come on, let's go!" Merle implored him once more, but Alan was too engrossed in the discovery of another mission triggered by the note.

[Hidden mission activated]

[Create your own Super soldier]

This new notification propelled him into action, though not toward the exit. Instead, Alan made his way to the bank of computers positioned in front of the tubes. As he accessed the computer terminal, all four tubes connected to the machines emitted a distinct beeping sound, causing the crimson gunner to pause briefly.

"Alan! No! It can't be!" Merle exclaimed with a mixture of excitement and disbelief. Yet, Alan paid him no mind. He was determined to follow the instructions outlined in the note and operate the machine.

As expected, the reward for completing the mission was the creation of super soldiers. With four tubes activated, Alan had the ability to bestow this reward on not one but four players. However, there were five individuals present—Alan himself, Merle, Vicky, Daniel, and Rose. The decision on whom to enhance and how remained to be determined.

"Mr. D, what is going on?!" Daniel and Vicky finally caught up to the conversation, their expressions a mix of curiosity and concern wondering what they were discussing at such a crucial time.

Analyzing the situation swiftly, Merle nominated himself as one of the four recipients of the super soldier enhancement. However, Alan calmly explained, "Unfortunately, Merle, you're a veteran, and this won't work for you." He showed Merle the note, which indicated that the tube wouldn't be effective for anyone above level 40.

Merle's frustration boiled over. "That is freaking bullshit!"

"We don't have much time, Merle. I suggest you leave as well before you're killed by the radiation," Alan urged, emphasizing the limited time available. The experiments required 30 minutes to complete, and with the current time constraints, every second counted.

[34 minutes left until the end of the round]

[Updating current players: 2,452]

[Updating Nazi soldiers: 1,844]

"Y'all tricking me, aren't you? Fuk Fuk Fuk!!" Merle's agitated words echoed in the chamber.

Without further ado, Alan ushered everyone inside the tubes, ensuring their safety, and then entered one himself. In truth, he felt a twinge of guilt for deceiving Merle. He had simply believed that the other three individuals needed the enhancement more than the veteran did. However, he was prepared to carry this secret to his grave.n-(O(-v((e//l)/b--I)-n

As the countdown of the game ticked down, so did the countdown of the tubes, and the fate of the four recipients hung in the balance.

[You successfully create your own super soldier]

[You have successfully pushed the limit of your body]

[Plus one bonus attribute to strength]

[Plus one bonus attribute to agility]

[Plus one bonus attribute to perceptions]

[Plus one bonus attribute to enduranced]

Inside the tubes, Alan and the three underwent a transformative process. It was a much-anticipated enhancement, offering four valuable bonus attributes. Time seemed to blur as the experiment progressed rapidly.

Then, almost as abruptly as it had begun, the process came to an end. The tubes opened, releasing Alan and the others back into the real world.

As they emerged from the tubes, a notification came waiting for them.

[Game concluded]
