Chapter 185 Preparation
As the morning light arrived, shining through the walls, the players cheered for surviving another night. The status updates for the servers showed the numbers of surviving players:
[New York Server: 2,858 (2,711)]
[Paris Server: 1,118 (1,031)]
[Cairo Server: 752 (724)]
[Bangkok Server: 741 (689)]
[You have completed E-rank quest: Guard the Gate]
[You have received 1000 XP and 1000 Survival points, 1x E-rank Reward]
Despite the battle supposedly being relatively easy, the approximate number of undead they fought reached a total of 30,000, and they had lost over 300 players that night. These results made Alan anxious, as he knew that each night would only get more difficult.
Alan had managed to accumulate a whopping 28,000-plus XP from that night, killing more than 100 undead and a few revenants. This impressive feat had not only bolstered his survival points but had also raised his level by two.
[Alan D Angello, Male, 27 years]
[Level 34: 161,150/180,000]
[HP: 340/340]
[Survival Points: 28,180]
[one attribute points to distribute]
He also received one rare box that gave him another superior item.
[Bone Axe]
[Rarity: Superior]
[Attributes: Damage 42-56]n-)OVelB1n
[Effects: Speed increase by 20%, Stamina 20%]
[Able to Bring Outside the Game: No]
[Remarks: Made by actual bone]
Even though axes were not Alan's preferred weapons, he recognized the value of the one he had acquired. It wasn't for his use, but rather a valuable tool that would greatly benefit his student, Daniel. The hefty and formidable axe would find its true purpose in Daniel's capable hands.
During the brief respite in the morning, Alan quickly organized the players into different tasks and shifts. The Wolverines were given a well-deserved rest, while Charlie's company was tasked with cleaning up the aftermath of the battle.
The battlefield was a mess, with scattered undead remains, damaged walls, and trenches in need of repair. While most of the undead corpses had been automatically removed from the game, there was still loot to collect, and the walls and trenches required immediate attention to ensure they were fortified for the next night's attack.
Alan then called upon the support team to resume their crafting and gathering duties. This group of 80 players had specialized skills in woodworking, harvesting, and mining, making them essential for gathering the necessary materials.
The woodworkers headed into the forest to collect wood, while the miners ventured up the nearby mountain to mine sulfur. The harvesters, on the other hand, entered a designated cave to collect bat excrement, a crucial ingredient for their plans.
This fortress had been strategically chosen because it provided access to the specific resources needed for their preparations.
The engineering team utilized these materials to produce [black powder], a critical component in the creation of their highly effective [homemade bombs], which had played a significant role in the previous night's battle. These explosives had proven their worth in dealing with hordes of undead.
Meanwhile, the crafters were hard at work, diligently converting the loot collected from fallen enemies, into usable weapons, armor, and bandages. Their efforts were crucial in ensuring that the players were well-equipped for the battles that awaited them.
With everyone assigned their tasks, Alan finally allowed himself a brief four-hour rest. He needed to regain his full buff status and be prepared for the challenges that lay ahead as they faced another night of relentless undead attacks.
As noon approached, the Wolverines awoke from their well-deserved rest, and everyone gathered for lunch, thanks to the efforts of Luis, the Mexican member of the group.
"Today's menu is boar meat!" Luis announced with enthusiasm, showing off the game they had caught earlier that morning. The boar had been expertly prepared and transformed into a delicious meal.
[Pork Skewers]
[Type: Foods]
[Rarity: Common]
[Attributes: Recover 10 HP and 20% Stamina regeneration within one hour]
[Effects: Prevent hunger]
[Able To Bring Outside The Game: Yes]
[Remarks: Good for hard-working players]
The aroma of the food was enticing, and the players eagerly dug in. The skewers not only provided a satisfying meal but also had beneficial attributes within the game.
After lunch, Charlie's team took their well-deserved rest, allowing the Wolverines to continue their work efficiently. When Alan finally woke from his rest, he found dozens of sets of weapons and armor ready to be crafted. However, he had something more important on his mind.
Alan needed to focus on his bonus quest, [The Legendary Sword of Light], which involved finding the fey village. To embark on this quest, he realized he needed to assemble a new team. Given the location of the fey village, Alan understood that he might not return in time to participate in the fifth night's battle against the undead hordes. He would likely be engaged in his battle elsewhere, and for that, he needed the right team by his side.
"Let me join you Alan!" said Milo the boxer.
He, with his convict team, eagerly volunteered to join Alan on his quest. Daniel and Rose quickly expressed their desire to join as well. Kenny and Izzie, also decided to participate, largely enticed by the promise of a substantial XP bonus. With the addition of his two NPC champion knights, Alan felt that he had a suitable team assembled.
However, Vicky expressed her disappointment that she wouldn't be joining them. Alan explained that her leadership was crucial for guarding the gate. He also asked Merle to stay behind and help protect the fortress.
Seeing Vicky's annoyed expression, Alan remembered something that had nearly slipped his mind. In an attempt to cheer her up, he handed her the quest item [Knight Sword]. Though hesitant at first, Vicky accepted the rusty sword, and as soon as she held it, she received a new quest.
Alan handed Vicky the quest item [Knight Sword], and as she accepted it, a new quest appeared for her:
[Bonus Quest - Brittania Knight]
[You have picked up the sword of a chivalrous knight, follow in his path, and prove yourself as a worthy Knight of the Round Table]
[Kill: 100 undead]
[Duration: 3 days]
This quest was an upgrade for her job class, something Alan had promised Vicky when she chose the knight as her job class. It was an exciting quest, but the requirement to kill 100 undead in just 3 days meant that she couldn't join Alan on his quest.
"Be careful," she said, watching as Alan led a group of 30 players on horseback out of the fort and toward the north to find the mysterious village.
