198 Abomination
The earth trembled beneath the players stationed atop the Roman walls as a deafening roar filled the air. Their gazes were drawn to the monstrous Abomination that had emerged from the darkness. This immense, hulking blob creature stood at a staggering 10 meters in height.
As the colossal creature drew closer, panic and urgency gripped the defenders. They knew all too well the devastation it could unleash upon the walls and the consequences of its advance.
"Shoot that thing down! Do not let it get any closer!" The order resounded across the Roman walls as players scrambled to respond.
The Abomination presented a daunting challenge to the players. It possessed low agility, making it slow and cumbersome, but its strength was immense, and it boasted a staggering 10,000 HP. These creatures were engineered for the sole purpose of dismantling fortifications, and there were multiple Abominations deployed along the wall defenses.
"Fire!!!" The command was followed by a furious onslaught of bullets and arrows, a relentless hailstorm aimed at the colossal foe. Yet, despite the barrage, the Abomination pressed forward, its massive frame undeterred.
With a deafening roar, the creature unleashed its unique ability—a reckless charge. It thundered toward the walls with relentless determination, its wooden mace raised high, ready to shatter the fortifications and create a breach.
"The wall is breached! We need more men on the walls!" The desperate cry echoed across the Roman walls.
####
The scene on the Roman walls mirrored the catastrophic breach that had occurred at Fort Sterling. The defenders faced a relentless onslaught from the Abomination, a massive, 10-meter-tall monstrosity that threatened to crush everything in its path. While a few burning buildings separated the giant from the fort entrance, the defenders knew that it was only a matter of minutes before the lumbering creature would reach them.
Seeing Daniel's stunned reaction to the approaching giant, Sergeant Dylan reacted swiftly, slapping him on the back to refocus his attention. "Focus on the entrance! We'll be lucky if we can hold it before that giant arrives!" The sergeant swiftly reloaded his fearsome Gatling Gun and aimed it at the encroaching undead horde. "Get back to hell, you motherfuckers!"
Dylan, along with Vicky, Percival, Daganot, and Guinevere, had been effectively holding their ground at the barricaded entrances. Now, with no more tricks up their sleeves, the entire horde of undead rushed toward them, forcing the other defender; Merle, and his gang of rednecks to gather at the 6-meter-wide entrance and join the fight, determined to prevent any undead from entering the main hall.
Within the hall, the air was thick with the sounds of combat—raining bullets, clashing steel, and the groans and roars of the undead. Every player fought with unwavering determination, knowing that the survival of Britannia Land depended on their efforts.
The hall resounded with the cacophony of bullets and the clash of steel as the players fought with all their might to hold off the undead horde. In the midst of this dire situation, the beautiful brunette shouted with excitement, "100!"
Vicky had finally completed her quest, and the rewards poured in:

[Are you willing to upgrade? Knight > Round Table Knight]
"Yes!!' Vicky enthusiastically accepts.
The class upgrade from the basic knight to the prestigious Round Table Knight didn't occupy a second job class slot, allowing Vicky to retain her original class attributes while upgrading her knight's unique skill, which could now be shared with other players.
With haste, Vicky employed the skill, bestowing it upon Percival and Daganot, the two NPC companions with high defense and over 500 HP. While there was a slight penalty for applying the upgrade to an NPC, it still yielded substantial benefits. She then extended the enhancement to Daniel, a melee fighter among them. As she pondered who should receive the last upgrade, a familiar voice resounded in everyone's ears.
"I am sorry for the delay!"
Alan, armed with a sword in one hand and a shotgun in the other, leaped into the fray, dispatching an undead with a single burst from his shotgun. His arrival injected renewed vigor into the battle as he joined the group's defense of the fort entrance.
Despite his late arrival, Alan had another request for the group: to hold the line for a few more minutes. The tension in the air was palpable, but the determined looks on everyone's faces showed their readiness to face the oncoming horde.
In response to Alan's request, Daniel let out a resounding warcry that seemed to invigorate the entire group. His voice echoed through the dimly lit hall, bolstering their resolve. On teh other hand, Alan was startled to receive a buff.
[You received the Round Table Knight Spirit]
[HP and Defense increase 20%]
The enhancement was significant, granting Alan an additional 70 HP and approximately 10 defense points. It was a welcome boost for their defensive mission. In return for the added buff, Alan handed his trusted [Shield of White Knight] to Vicky, with one word "Congrats"
With the newfound resilience, the group fought valiantly, holding their ground against the relentless undead horde. Their weapons clashed with the skeletal warriors and bullets cut through the advancing foes. Every second counted as they awaited the signal to retreat.
Just as the massive Abomination loomed dangerously close to their position, Johnny, the engineer member of the special unit, shouted with urgency, "Alan, it's ready!"
Alan's raised his voice above the cacophony of battle, his words carrying through the hall. "Everyone, retreat on my mark! Three... two... one!"
With a coordinated effort, the group broke through the undead's ranks, their hearts pounding with terror as they retreated to the very back of the room. The relentless horde of zombies and skeletons continued to pursue them, their relentless advance filling the room with a cacophony of guttural moans and bone-chilling shrieks. The Abomination, a monstrous ten-meter-tall behemoth, barreled through the entrance, its immense form shattering the stone structure and creating a much wider gate in the process.
Amidst the chaos and the deafening clamor of the undead, Alan remained at the rear to ensure that everyone entered the secret tunnel. "Let's go!! Let's go!!"
He watched as Rose, the last one to descend from the high ceiling, joined him in the back room. As they all entered the back tunnel at breakneck speed, Alan held the entrance with his sword, striking down a few more of the relentless undead. Each second felt like an eternity, but he knew that every moment counted, allowing his companions more time to escape further down the tunnel.
With the belief that the critical moment had arrived, Alan retrieved his trusty [Lighter] and ignited a carefully prepared fuse attached to the walls. This was what he and the special units had been diligently preparing—a final trap for the relentless undead horde.
Casting a quick glance back at the oncoming tide of undead, Alan dashed into the tunnel just as the fuses ignited, leading to multiple locations within the fort. These fuses were strategically placed to connect with large boxes positioned on the main pillars of the fort.
Within moments, the underground tunnel was rocked by the thunderous cacophony of multiple explosions, a deafening symphony of destruction that echoed through the passageway.
KABOOM! KABOOMM! KABOOOMM!
The explosion was only the beginning. Seconds after the detonation, as the main supporting pillars were destroyed, the entire fort began to crumble and collapse, crushing the undead within its walls. The catastrophe didn't stop there. The massive tremors from the fort's destruction shook the mountain behind, triggering multiple rockfalls that cascaded into the forts and their yards.
Alan and the others sprinted as far as they could, narrowly avoiding the falling rocks. However, the thrill of their escape was quickly followed by a resounding cheer as they realized their plan had been successful. The fort was in ruins, and the undead horde that had threatened them was buried beneath the rubble.
The task came with a continuous barrage of notifications, each ping on Alan's game link signaling the massive influx of XP and survival points that boosted his level three times. To his surprise, the game extended its rewards to the entire group, acknowledging their collective achievement with a generous bonus.
[Bonus Quest completed: Utterly destroyed an incoming horde]
[You received D rank reward x1]
[You received 10,000 XP and 5,000 survival points]
[Level Up]
With the task of significantly reducing the undead numbers accomplished, the group quickly made their way to the forest where they had hidden the horses. They mounted up and rode back to the walls, eager to rejoin the defense and bolster the efforts to protect the Roman walls.
I changed the job from Templar to Round Table Knight. I read a few more historical references on the Templar and found it not really suitable. Hope you enjoy the chapter, thank you
