Chapter 1770: Not a godSam is currently sitting with his legs crossed in the middle of hell.
On the current floor, he is on, there is only one creature left. It is actually a creature formed in the shape of a human being. The Emperor of Orion. One of the first key people Sam defeated in Desolate.
The person that became the first stepping stone in creating Sam's legacy as a ruling authority in Desolate. The one defeat that gave him a chance to put his current base of operations.
Sam sat there as he waited to get out. He is playing around with wind elemental energy from the place that he is currently in.
Only his fingers are moving right now.
The wind around the king is moved in a very particular motion. It is just a single concentrated wind that is moving like a live snake. Various areas of that single current is hitting the king from different sides as it moved around.
Sam is controlling it in a way that as the king is trying to reach Sam to kill him, the current is blocking his motions. No matter what the king is trying to do, he is standing with a circle that Sam has drawn around him.
There is a single token made of stone with some runes placed on the King. Whenever he tried to use his lightning energy, it is being absorbed by that stone token.
Sam just moved his fingers as if he is drumming his fingers for a tune. The wind current is like a living snake which gave him an idea.
The wind slowly condensed much more before the image of snake appered. The wind snake is now controlling the king.
In a way, this is not actually something new. Any person with good enough control would be able to do that. But what any person will miss at a first glance is that Sam is not just controlling wind elemental energy to create this snake.
Infact, at this exact moment, the energy in his body is not being consumed. Except for the part of the energy that he used to make the snake appear, he is at full capacity. He is able to control that energy directly without any change in his energy capacity.
This is not usually possible with him. It is impossible to keep the energy intact after it comes out of the body for a long time. It is a norm that when people use their energy to attack someone, they need to feed energy to it constantly to keep it intact.
But not only is Sam keeping it intact, the snake is now gradually getting bigger.
He activated his energy vision as he looked at the snake while doing that. He could see the energy particles that are around the snake and in the surroundings the snake is moving, the energy is slowly being gathered.
The snake is getting bigger and even at that moment, the energy in his body is completely stable. Not a single grain of it is being consumed.
He smiled as he controlled the king and when he suddenly felt that suction energy on his body, he snapped his fingers.
He disappeared from the spot, but from that snap, a small golden spark was created. A flame propagated. The golden flame burned through the air in a snake like pattern, before it actually lit up the wind snake that was still move.
The wind snake turned into snake of golden flames.
It burned down the King in an instant.
And even for this, Sam didn't have to spend any energy.
He converted the atmosphere spiritual energy at his fingers into fire elemental energy using his spiritual core. And that conversion is of a very small amount.
But with that as a leverage and his new technique he gained from the formation of the previous competition, he managed to convert everything into this golden flame.
While the king's body was burned to ashes, Sam appeared in the grey space.
Hel as usually stood there. She looked at Sam with a frown. And this time she is not doing it because of all the shit he usually stirs up. She already knew all the things that the dusk is doing.
Even when Sam is here isolated from the rest of the world Dusk is not stopping at all. The momentum is so widespread to the point, even as gods they are scared.
They have never seen an organization that can rise up like the Dusk did. And all it took was just one visit from Sam.
She couldn't even imagine what Sam would have done if he is the one leading the Dusk.
The casualties that are occurring right now, regimes that are changing everyday, systems that are being collapsed overnight, if all these people, literally millions of people, heard that all of this happened because of one man's will.
One man's malice towards a god. She couldn't even digest that fact.
But that is not what is making her frown at the moment.
She is frowning because of what Sam did just now back in the tower. The technique that he used to kill the king.
She kind of felt that Sam is doing something that he shouldn't be able to at his current state. She just couldn't put her finger on it.
She felt like Sam is tapping on a territory that should have been unchartered by so many people.
She could only shake that feeling off and let the competition continue.
"This time, the person that is coming to conduct your competition is not exactly accepted as god. In fact, the faith group of his is so niche to the point the faith energy is negligible.
He is one of the strongest creatures I have ever encountered and now I am announcing him like this is because he fucking vain.
Introducing Lucifer the Devil.
As soon as she spoke. A young man appeared beside her in black smoke. He is handsome. It is to the point that handsome word appeared to be a little understatement when describing him. He had that regal presence.
The one befitting of a ruler. But there is this wildness added to it.
The one befitting a rebel.
"I am not going to be involved in the competition until this guy is done with you. If this guy offers you anything, be careful before you accept it. Your lives are not enough repay some of his favors. One thing he doesn't do is lie, but you would be surprised to know how many fell victim to him even with that noble honesty.
Be careful."
Hel disappeared immediately.
"Well, that's bummer. She could have stayed and enjoyed the party. I am not beneath sharing my joy."
The young man spoke with a smile.
He looked at all seven players with that smile.
"How do you do kids? I heard a lot about you. I must say your presence deserves the boasts in your reputation. Stunning really.
I am looking forward to our time well spent together. And I once again regret not trying hard enough to be accepted by these snobbish gods that forbade from playing in this game.
Can you image that? These self-proclaimed noble beings are not even broad hearted enough to include me, the best game player in a game as exciting as this.
But I hope to get as much in this short time frame as possible.
So, going right to the point, for this round, I will not just assign you a common collective task. Instead, I have two deals for each and every one of you. Every individual has two tailor made choices. So, you will decide your challenge based on your pure luck.
And you can thrive in that challenge based on your competence and some morality here and there.
So, let's start with discussing these. I will begin with Noah. Meanwhile the rest of you can wait."
Lucifer's voice sounded in that empty space. It felt so harmonic, pure and attractive.
Sam shook his head out of the slight daze he was in.
He doesn't know if he is impressed, but throwing someone into such deep daze with just a few words is actually a hard task.
Lucifer disappeared along with Noah within a few minutes he came back. But Noah disappeared. He did the same with the rest of the players one by one.
Sam was called last. But he wasn't taken away, since no one is here, he just stood there without any players.
Sam felt that the fair games might have been over by now as he looked Lucifer.
"Sam, the player hand picked by the Gamble himself impressive. I am awaiting your performance. Because it was praised too much by too many people at this point.
I am glad I got a chance now.
By the way, I was told to clarity to you that I am going to be fair to you. You don't have to worry about any cheating. In fact, I am going to leave you a choice between two very bad options. So, pick one."
Lucifer extended his hand with two envelopes.
