1790 Battle traces

Sam didn’t know what Kumar has planned.

At least not for the next thirty minutes. Because within the next thirty minutes, Sam saw with his shadows and ghosts that the whole city is in chaos.

A lot of people are running around. Every inn and bar has been raided by the Magman clan members.

And after another thirty minutes, the magman clan members were given something. A token with some inscriptions. As soon as they injected some energy into it. An energy radar appeared.

The token is used to discover death energy, dark elemental energy, and shadow energy. All three energies that are needed to drive Sam’s soul are ghosts, specters, shadow undead and even the puppets.

The men of the Magman clan were asked to inject their energy into the tokens constantly.

In fact, a couple of Sam’s souls were caught because of this method in the first few minutes.

Sam was stunned and finally got a hold of what the situation is.

Kumar is currently searching high and low for Sam and he is using all kinds of tricks and techniques to stop Sam from gaining any information. He basically cut off all of Sam’s usual techniques which are usually focused on following people and eavesdropping on the conversations.

While Sam tried to recall all of his shadow undead and ghosts, more and more of them were discovered and caught of destroyed.

The head of Magman clan already heard of the news and the preparation his son is making up on the advice of Kumar.

When he heard that some people really did manage to come across some of the ghosts and had to gang up just to kill a couple of them, he became vigilant. He also became more accepting of Kumar and his words.

This is kind of bad news for Sam.

If Kumar has some friction with the Magman clan, then things would be easier. But now that they are getting along and the Magman clan are not stupid enough to ignore Kumar’s advice, things are going to be extremely difficult.

But Sam felt like he still has the upper hand.

The other party doesn’t know exactly if Sam is here or not. They also don’t know how much information Sam has about them.

Meanwhile, Sam knew exactly how they found out about him, because he is the one that gave them that information.

Now, he knows exactly what they are doing and why they are doing it.

It is basically him making his opponent reveal all of their moves even before the actual game has started. He already visualized everything the opponent is going to do and now he can think of ways to counter it.

And the first thing on that list of tasks is to find a way to gain information from the Magman clan. His usual methods are gone.

But there is still one channel open.

As Sam is thinking, the channel itself has walked into the room.

The target. The target subordinate of Baryn arrived in front of him.

“Hello, friend. I hope you are doing well here.”

The target asked Sam.

Sam nodded and asked.

“What is happening outside? I have seen that many guards are moving around as if they are searching for someone.”

“Yeah, the guy who threatened to kill you is a wanted person of highest level. We are looking for his whereabouts. You gave us some huge help. If we hadn’t known that he is hiding, we wouldn’t know what he could have done.”

“That guy is such a big deal? What is the enmity between Magman and them?”

“I don’t know the details, but the Clan head issued the orders himself. So, he is a pretty big deal. This also means, we need to delay our partnership a bit.

Also, the city is on a curfew, so you won’t be able to leave the city anytime soon. I suggest you make yourself comfortable here. I will be working on this case for some time.”

“Maybe, I can help you somehow?”

“Hahaha, thanks for saying it. But it is fine. Our Magman clan is no pushover. I think we will be able to find him ourselves in no time.”

“Well, if you are okay with it then fine. But from what I saw, he is eating a very particular kind of snake meat with his wine. And I saw the snake in the woods east of the city. It seems like he has cooked the snake in the forest itself.

Maybe you might find some clues there.”

The target thought for a moment and nodded.

“Thank you. I don’t know how valuable this information is, but I will relay it to my superior.”

The target ran out of his residence and made his way to the young master. He wanted to relay this information as well, but he is unable to think of a way to do so without revealing the information about his new business partner.

After some thought, he didn’t bother thinking too much and decided to just send a team directly. Anyway, there are plans going on to do some scouting in the forests, and he decided to just replace some of the scouts with his own team members.

He didn’t overthink after this idea and let it run.

And to his surprise, just after half an hour of sending his team, he already got some results. His team brought back some clues and information.

When he got the info, he immediately ran back to Baryn.

“Sir, we found some traces in the forest.”

Kumar and Baryn learned the info and immediately went to the forest. There they saw what looked like a battlefield.

It seemed like two powerful people were fighting there. There are some traces of blood, and some aftermath of fire-based and lightning-based attacks.

There are some trees that fell down and seemed to have got cut with precise wind blades. Moreover, there is some beastly aura there that attracted Kumar the most.

“I think he is here. The blood and the attacks all seem like his own doing and the beastly aura. It is definitely him who did this. But who is he fighting with? And how did we miss if he is fighting this close to the city?”
