Chapter 800: Kiliffia’s Training Part 3
Two weeks passed, and after many more battles, Kiliffia found herself at the edge of a plateau area. While this place was very picturesque, it was the sight further away that caught her attraction. It was the golden stairs ascending into the sky. Seeing such a place, the Goddess of Fluff's tail and ears flickered. "Is that the place the old man was talking about?"
Unsure of what awaited her, Kiliffia decided that was going to be her next destination. No matter how she looked at it, that one place stuck out like a sore thumb. She had no idea how long it would take for her to get there, but she did not care.
"I will need to make another hideaway. Hopefully, I can get lucky and find a decently safe spot near some water somewhere." Pursing her lips, Kiliffia wiped the blood on her cheek with her hand, causing it to smudge as she began her journey forward.
Luckily the area she was in had very few trees, so she could always see the golden stairs and could keep a very good eye on her surroundings. However, she did make sure to watch for any signs of strange anomalies with the ground. After the horrifying sight of what she now calls the ground eater, she hoped to never run into one or end up in one's stomach.
She kept to the side near the plateau cliff side just in case. This also helped reduce her monster encounters but still gave her good practice against the new kinds of monsters she was finding in this place.
Although there was one kind of monster that had camouflage abilities that almost took one of her legs. If she had not sensed danger, she was sure she would have been seriously injured. A lost limb would end her journey, especially since she had no way of actually restoring it quickly. Her healing magic was not the best, so it would take her quite some time to heal it fully.
But this was helping her hone her danger senses and allowing her to use her beastkin traits to their fullest. Between her danger senses, eye sight, and ability to sniff out anything strange, she was honing each one at a quick pace.
Each one of these skills was also essential since she had always been a front line fighter. And since she was alone, she would need to adapt to the surroundings quickly and retreat or advance when she needed to.
The only thing she really had trouble fighting was a kind of monster that looked similar to a dragon but was much smaller and had disproportionate limbs. Its front limbs were very short and could only be used at short range to hold on to their prey. But they did come with two razor sharp claws about two feet long on each front limb. The hind legs were much larger and were made for running at fast speeds.
But the one thing that really annoyed her about this monster was its ability to blow a purple flame that not only burnt things it touched but melted the things around it instantly. Its mouth also leaked a purple fluid that would drip down and, like its flame, melt everything it touched. Fighting one for the first time almost made her lose an arm. But when she noticed her fluff got signed, her anger flared, and it was as if she had turned into a whole new person with a power level of over nine thousand!
What was amazing was how quickly she was adapting and learning how to fight each monster. Her combat sense had grown by leaps and bounds to the point that even Yana, who was a master at the sword, would probably praise her on her ability to quickly progress in her swordsmanship during battle.
After many weeks that turned into months, Kiliffia was now standing on a small plateau that had a strange stone structure with a large set of stone steps that led up to a platform where the golden stairs started.
She stood there in a freshly made monster hide tunic with her hair fluttering in the breeze and her hand on the hilt of her sword. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly to try to calm her nerves. "Let's see where this leads….."
Kiliffia climbed up the stone steps. Each step seemed like it took ages because there was some kind of strange pressure weighing done on her, and with each step, it only grew stronger and stronger. By the time she finally put her foot on the platform where the golden steps were, she had beads of sweat forming on her brow.
Turning around, she looked down the stairs, which were only about one hundred steps in total, and wondered if this was some kind of trial. Shaking her head she turned back around and looked up at the golden steps. She did not move to climb them just yet. She was waiting until she got used to this new pressure on her body. It was not too bad, but she still wished to get used to it before moving on.
In the end, she camped out for two days before her body got fully used to it, and she could move around like normal again. Only then did she go to take a step forward towards the golden stairs. But before she could even reach the steps, a strange figure clad in golden suddenly appeared in front of her.
The gold figure looked human but was not. Its skin was pure gold in color, and it had a third eye in the middle of its forehead that was a blazing red, while her other eyes were a solid white. "To think after so long I would see a living being capable of taking my people's inheritance test…."
Kiliffia was stunned when she heard the gold figure's words. She could easily understand them but that was not what surprised her, it was the fact that the gold figure seemed to be actually talking to her in real time!
