Chapter 835: The Slime Domain
They traveled for almost an hour when they came to a spot in the middle of the Dreaded Grounds that had a high waterfall that crashed down into a sparkling blue lake below. Ako landed on the lake's surface and looked at the large waterfall in front of her. "Master, the entrance is beyond this waterfall. We will need to break open the dimensional wall that is sealed at this moment."
"Hmmm?" Kana looked at the waterfall. She blinked her eyes, and that was all it took. The waterfall suddenly stopped flowing and parted to reveal a big gap in time and space. "Okay, it's open!"
"Master is stronger than ever…." Ako did not know what to say. The defenses of her clan that goes back to ancient times when the first slime became aware was so easily broken with a single blink from her Master.
"Hehe…" Kana giggled as she flew into the hole. She wanted to be the first to enter in case someone attacked.
She passed through the tear and into the slime domain where the slimes lived. She found a vast open meadow with what looked like a town not too far away. "Hmmm…. Not really what I was expecting."
"That town is the frontier town. It sits at the edge of the domain. See the fog over there." Ako pointed to the dense fog off in the distance. You could not see beyond the fog no matter how hard you tried.
"That is the barrier?" Kana asked.
"Yes, it is the place where slimes who have committed crimes are forced to go. They will be forced to venture into the fog. Their crimes will be washed away if they are able to return from the fog within a week. But as you may have guessed, no one has ever returned from the fog. No one knows what is beyond the fog either." Ako explained.
"Aunty Ako, does this mean that there might be another space on the other side of the fog?" Rain asked. She was very curious about this fog stuff.
"I am not sure…." Ako replied. She had noticed that her Master's daughters kept calling her Aunty. But since she liked the sound of it, she was not going to correct them anytime soon. It made her feel more like family.
Kana tapped her chin as she fell into thought before turning towards Rain and asking: "Rain, do you wish to investigate?"
"Can I?" Rain asked, her voice filled with excitement.
"Can I go with her!?" Angelica asked. She also wanted to take this chance to check out something that was mysterious.
"Yes, but don't go too far into the fog. We don't know what is out there. I will be keeping an eye on the two of you the entire time. If I see you in trouble at all, I will come help." Kana answered with a nob.
"Thanks, Mama!" Rain grabbed Angelica's hand and began running towards the fog. Angelica smiled and gave a wave as she let Rain pull her along.
"They are very energetic," Creige said with a chuckle.
"Creige, can you go watch over them for me, please?" Kana asked as she stood on her tiptoes and kissed his lips.
"I was just about to suggest that." Creige kissed Kana back before hugging her tightly. He then left to follow after the girls.
"You have a very lovely family." Ako felt kind of envious she never would get to have her own little slime family.
"They are all very dear to me, and you are also part of that family, Ako. Why else do you think the girls call you Aunty?" Kana asked as she hugged Ako. "Remember, you will never be alone in this world. I am sure one day you will find someone who will love you for you. When that day comes, you will build your own family and have many little slimes."
"I am not so sure. We slimes reproduce much differently. Although I think my body has changed quite a bit since merging with chaos." Ako looked at her midnight blue body with pursed lips.
Kana made her wear robes as soon as she came out of her space. It seemed she had become anatomically correct.
"Mmm… Your body now looks more humanism, I guess I could say. Anyway, I still think you will meet someone you will truly love one day." Kana patted Ako on the head before floating up into the air. "Let's go to the town."
On the other side, Creige quickly caught up to the girls. "I told you Handsome Papa would come." Angelica said while pinching Rain's waist.
"I guess Mama will always be Mama. In her eyes, we will always be her little babies. But you know what, I will always love that side of her. Because she will always be our Mama that we can act spoiled around just like little kids." Rain spoke with a warm smile on her face. She loved the way her Mama was. She hoped her Mama would never change.
"You girls sound like you do not want me here." Creige chuckled as he landed next to the girls.
"We never said that!" Angelica yelled out. "Handsome Papa will always be welcome."
"Well, I won't be getting in the way anyway. I will just be there in case something happens. But what is strange is that no matter how much I try to probe the fog I can't see much of anything." Creige couldn't figure it out. He had probed the fog multiple times and yet he couldn't get more than a few meters in before it felt like it would be blocked.
"Well I am sure Mama did not try to probe the fog at all since she has other things to deal with. So for now we will just analyze it and see if we can figure anything out." Angelica said as she pulled out a strange device. It was something she made a long time ago to try to detect things that were hidden.
