Chapter 839: Nothing Big

Chapter 839: Nothing Big

"Take care!" The tall, muscular slime yelled out while waving his hand. After following Kana and listening to her interact with those around her, he felt kind of bad that she could not step foot into his town but sadly, this was the rule that had been passed down since ancient times. Even if it was the first time, such rules were being implemented.

"Ako, how long until we reach the actual city you are from?" Kana asked.

"Mmm, if we are walking, a few days." Ako said with a small frown. She did not wish to wait a second longer. But she did not want to rush her Master either.

"Hmmm… Then why don't I…." Kana stopped speaking when she sensed the space near her warping.

""Mama!"" Rain and Angelica both jumped through the tear in space and landed in front of Kana.

"Rain, Angelica? What's wrong?" Kana could see the panic in their eyes. She had been keeping an eye on them but not to the point that she knew what was going on on their side so she could keep their findings a surprise. She really wanted to show her true reactions and not fake ones when her daughters spoke to her.

"Mama, we need to hurry and finish what we came here for. There is some kind of monster in this domain. This place was not created for slimes. It was a place to contain the thing that rests deep within the realm." Angelica explained.

"Hmmm?" Kana's eyes glowed with a black light as if she could see through all. When she saw the abomination that was formed deep under the realm itself, she was quite shocked.

"I see… That is a big mass of souls. But I do not see it being a threat, so it's fine. Was this what was beyond the fog?"

"Well, that and a statue graveyard of living beings being absorbed by this thing. Mama, are you sure this thing is no issue?" Angelica asked. She felt a strong pressure from it, and that was what made her worry the most.

"Mmm… it's just a small matter. Where is your Handsome Papa?" Kana looked left and right but did not see Creige. Only when he saw him standing by the opening, her girls made in the fog as if guarding it, did she relax a bit.

"He is guarding the entrance." Rain replied, but from the look on her Mama's face, she already knew that her mother knew about it.

"Alright. Go back and get rid of the gate unless you wish to investigate more. Otherwise, don't worry about it too much. I will keep an eye on things, and if anything gets out of hand, I will take care of it." Kana did not find the strange monster to be a threat at all, so she was fine with her babies continuing their little exploration.

"I still wish to try to figure out if there is a reason for the living statues. " Angelica answered. Rain nodded as she said: "Then I will go with Angelica since she will need me to make a path. We will let Mama know if we find anything new."

"Okay! Have fun." Kana watched as Rain and Angelica stepped back through the tear in space and disappeared. She then stretched her arms and looked at Yana and Ako: "Shall we continue? To give the girls more time, we will walk. I did plan to teleport there, but I decided to wait for now."

"Mama, what was the thing that Angelica was talking about?" Yana asked.

"Here, take a look." Kana waved her hand, causing an orb to appear in the air. On it showed a massive glowing bluish object that was almost completely round. It had a strange outer shell that looked like transparent skin and breathed in and out. "It is just a collection of souls. Angelica probably saw it as something strange about it. But basically, it is fusing with a bunch of souls and will probably form into a giant ghoul. That transparent outer layer is its body forming. It has yet to amass enough energy to actually form a proper body."

"How do you know what it is, Mama?" Yana was confused. Her Mama seemed to have more knowledge of the monster than Angelica, who knew almost everything.

"That is a good question. How do I know?" Kana tilted her head to the side. It just seemed to appear in her mind when she saw it. "Well, maybe it has something to do with my last evolution."

"Then, as long as it will not harm us, I guess it is okay. But from the sounds of it, it will not be able to actually form a solid body for a long time. So Angelica was overreacting?" Yana asked.

"Not really. While yes, it will probably take another thousand years or so for it to form a proper body, it can still reach others with its ghostly tentacles inside it to reap the lives of others. This is probably because it grew so big. Most of those souls probably all belong to slimes. And slimes can easily reproduce, right Ako?" Kana looked over at Ako, who seemed to be lost in deep thought.

"Huh? Ah yes, as long as there is enough spiritual qi in the air, we can create more of ourselves. It's just that we are kind of like a hive as the original slime, the ancestor of all slimes, had to reproduce thousands of times to make copies of itself, and at some point, their personalities began to split. From there, as we evolved, we stopped having the hive mind personally. And now, only our offspring act as the hive but on a smaller scale. It's kind of difficult to explain as I have never tried it myself and probably can not do so any more after my change." Ako explained.

"Well I'm sure every year thousands of slimes disappear from this place. It's like you all are here to be food for the giant thing down below. If that is the case then even more of a reason to get back at these people and leave her once and for all."
