"Ow, that really hurts. I feel like my bones are about to snap!"
While Rakshasa was bursting with excitement, Yaeger was not having the best time. It felt like she had been caught in a vise.
Embarrassed, Rakshasa quickly released her grip, making frantic hand gestures to apologize. Her hands flew as if saying she didn’t mean to—she was just too overjoyed.
"It’s okay, I get it," Yaeger reassured, waving her hand dismissively. But inwardly, Yaeger was taken aback. ‘How is Rakshasa this strong?’
It wasn’t easy for anyone to make Yaeger feel actual pain. Yet, Rakshasa’s bear hug had done just that—almost breaking her bones.
‘That kind of strength isn’t normal. Those energy clumps must be influencing her... but whether for good or bad, I can’t tell yet.'
What concerned her more was the possibility of those energy clumps waking up too early.
‘If they awaken after feeding off my life energy, her power will be unimaginable. But so will the damage—especially to her vocal nerves.'
Yaeger could feel the weight of the situation pressing down on her.
Buzz!
Her phone suddenly vibrated. She checked it to find a new message.
Rakshasa: Princess, you’re amazing! I thought I’d never hear again for the rest of my life! This feels like when I first entered the game... no, even more exciting!
Yaeger could feel Rakshasa’s excitement through her words. When she looked up, Rakshasa’s face was glowing, her smile radiant like a blooming flower.
"Alright, that’s enough celebrating. You can be happy, but hurry up and get dressed—the night’s cold." Yaeger gently reminded her.
The girl standing before her was like a newborn, her almost flawless body fully exposed.
Hearing this, Rakshasa blushed lightly, but she kept calm and composed. Unlike most girls, she had already accepted that the dazzling Princess was her one and only, so there was no hesitation in revealing herself. In fact, she wouldn’t mind even if they shared a bed that night.
The sound of rustling filled the room. Soon, Rakshasa was dressed in her underwear and light pajamas.
"By the way, don’t tell anyone your hearing is back, at least for now," Yaeger reminded her.
Rakshasa nodded obediently. She would do anything Princess asked.
‘She’s so obedient now... Such a far cry from how she was in my past life.'
Even now, Yaeger remembered the Rakshasa who had once fought like a fierce goddess of war. Compared to the obedient girl standing in front of her now, the difference was like night and day.
But Yaeger definitely preferred the sweet, compliant version of Rakshasa she saw before her now.
"I don’t need to explain this, but it would be problematic if anyone found out about this... unscientific event." Yaeger stroked her head as she spoke.
Rakshasa immediately displayed a delighted expression. It was clear she was enjoying it.
‘Princess used to pat my head like this in the game... but now it's real! This feels amazing! Double the happiness! I’m melting!’
If there was a "Favorability" meter in real life, Rakshasa’s toward Yaeger would be off the charts. But, happy moments never last long. Yaeger pulled back her hand and checked the time before speaking.
"I have some other things to take care of. I can’t stay too long."
She was already exhausted after healing both Little Fairy and Rakshasa. With business at the auction house waiting early tomorrow, she needed rest.
Rakshasa froze at those words. The happiness in her heart faded quickly, replaced by an overwhelming sense of loneliness and emptiness.
"I’ll come by when I can," Yaeger said with a bitter smile, noticing the change in Rakshasa's expression.
"Aren't you hot?" Yaeger asked with a soft, bitter smile as she felt Rakshasa's warmth pressed against her.
Rakshasa shook her head, her gaze fixed intently on Yaeger. It was as though she could never tire of looking at her. If she could speak, she would have talked to her all night, until they both drifted off naturally.
"It's late now. Time to sleep." Yaeger stroked her hair gently, urging her.
With a small hesitation, Rakshasa finally closed her eyes, complying. Before long, as the minutes passed, she fell into a deep sleep.
"She’s just like a child," Yaeger whispered with a soft smile, watching her peaceful expression.
Yaeger thought briefly about showing this gentle, adorable side of Rakshasa to all those who worshiped her in their past lives. But on second thought, she decided against it.
‘This side of her is just for me to see... why would I share it with anyone else?'
If there was something she could have all to herself, she would savor it. Yaeger had always been possessive.
‘Now that she's asleep, I should go. It'll be harder to leave in the morning.'
From their earlier interactions, Yaeger had already learned how clingy Rakshasa could be.
As she moved to rise, Rakshasa, in her sleep, suddenly latched onto her. She wrapped herself around Yaeger, locking her in place with all four limbs.
‘Was she a vice grip in her past life?'
At this point, it was clear there was no escaping Rakshasa's hold. Not unless she wanted to wake her up.
"Forget it. I'll just sleep," Yaeger relented.
Whether here or back in the [City of Chaos], she would be sleeping either way. It made no difference. Resigned, Yaeger closed her eyes and gave in to sleep.
Meanwhile, in the game, outside the northern fortress...
The two legendary powerhouses clashed violently, shaking the very earth as thunderous crashes echoed all around. Officers and soldiers on both sides stood in awe, watching the spectacle unfold before them.
Such battles between legends were rare and awe-inspiring, a sight few were ever lucky enough to witness. These powerhouses rarely clashed. For when they did, it was often a fight to the death.
For them, this battle could determine the fate of entire nations. Victory would bring enormous rewards to the triumphant nation. But, at the moment, they were thinking too far ahead.
"What do you really want, you old fool?" Richard demanded, though neither he nor Beta were fighting at their full strength.
"What do I want? I have no idea what you mean," Beta replied casually, effortlessly countering Richard's attacks.
"Quit pretending!" Richard roared, his punch creating a shockwave that sent gravel flying in all directions.
"Heh, youngsters are so impatient," Beta chuckled, calmly extending his palm to catch Richard’s massive fist as it hurtled toward him.
The collision of their immense powers sent shockwaves rippling outward, shaking the very air around them.
"What are you really after?" Richard growled, holding his stance, eyes grim.
"Nothing much. I just want you to lower your tariffs, say by... fifteen percent," Beta said calmly, as if discussing the weather.
"Lower tariffs by fifteen percent? Are you insane?" Richard exclaimed, stunned by the absurd demand.
The economic disparity between the Jade Empire and the Sky Empire was already vast. Lowering tariffs by 15% would devastate local industries!
"Heh, I hear your sister's preparing to rebel. Maybe I should keep you here a little longer," Beta smirked.
Richard’s face drained of color the moment he heard those words.
‘There's a spy in the palace!' Richard realized with dread.
