Chapter 348 The Hunt [1]

"W-Who are you?"

"…" The mighty existence directed a nonchalant glance at him.

Legolas necessarily didn't toy with him but his nonchalance and his silence left this smart warrior feel that he was being toyed with. As his frozen brain slowly regained vitality and started processing thoughts, something happened.

"…!" Edgar's eyes widened.

The Enchanted dagger that he held in his hand was erased from existence.

Mobilizing the powers of the gray world, to drive home a point that he stood no chance in the gray world, Legolas erased the dagger away from existence.

He didn't exactly erase it from existence, through the obscuring powers of the gray world, he simply took it from it's owner and kept it in his junkyard.

This may seem like nothing but to a smart warrior like Edgar, this meant everything.

"…!" Edgar could no longer keep his composure; he shook in horror!

'D-did he just erase my dagger out of existence?'

'I didn't even feel any fluctuation of power!'

'Achieving something like this without me feeling anything, who is this guy?'

'What did I fall into?'

'This is not funny, did Edge plan this?!'

"No".

The mysterious existence finally spoke for the first time and to Edgar, this was the worst time possible for him to have spoken.

'No! He said no?!'

'Oh my God!' This hunter was losing his sanity.

'He can read thoughts? Can he read my mind?!'

As a Grade C Psychic who had indebt knowledge about the mind, this hunter knew exactly the difficulty that was required to read the thoughts of a normal human, but now this was the thoughts of a Psychic of his caliber.

This was beyond anything that Edgar ever suspected, his mind was blown away.

'Ahh…!' His mind was a bomb as he suddenly came to a frightening realization.

'Master Hunter Huron's book about the god-like existences!'

'The mythical powerhouses who already exceeded the realm of mortals!'

'The mythical Beyond Grade A's!'

'According to the book, Beyond Grade A's have exceeded the limits of mortals so much that they develop their own domain which is a manifestation of their power. In their domain, they control the rules and laws of reality'.

'In their domains, they are literal gods'.

This hunter's eyes widened to the limits like lanterns.

'This guy…, is he a Beyond Grade A?!'

'Is he a God?!!!'

"Edgar". The mighty existence's voice reverberated again.

'He knows my name?!'

'F*ck fool!' Edgar felt like bonking his head against a pole. 'An existence of his level knows everything about me already, I'm so foolish!'

The thoughts flowing through this hunter's mind told Legolas that his job was already more or less down, he secretly smirked to celebrate his victory.

Legolas acted like he didn't pay attention to the stupid thoughts of a mortal like him. Using Edgar's train of thought as his template, he already formulated how to lead the conversation to get to his ultimate goal.

"One of my favorite talented servants has discovered something in your planet that caught his interest, this is why you caught my interest".

'I said it! I'm definitely not talented enough to attract a god like him!' Edgar listened attentively like he was back to Psychic bootcamp training.

"My servant is interested in the Warpsnare".

"Join the mission and pave the way for my servant to also be a part of it. Help him secure the Warpsnare, and you will gain the rare opportunity to become a member of my galactic gray world gathering".

Edgar's thought processes flowed fast as his brain entered overdrive.

Unlike John who came from a developed planet like Konot IV, Planet Austere where Edgar lived was much more backward. After being ravaged by the apocalypse, the galactic progress of this planet was still rudimentary.

Only the strongest of their planet had the opportunity to ride through their limited spaceships outside the planet to see the outside world of space.

A Grade D Psychic like Edgar never came close to getting the opportunity of leaving his planet. Despite his knowledge and despite how smart he was, Edgar's fascination for the term 'galactic' override his natural wariness and suspicion.

To him, this was a once in a lifetime opportunity not only to develop a connection to a god, but also to the galactic universe outside Planet Austere.

This Psychic was hyped beyond measure.

Another reason why he didn't let his natural suspicion prevail today was the fact that he also recognized that refusing probably meant death.

Instead of dying, he would rather jump into this crazy boat.

"What is your answer?" The mighty existence's voice boomed.

"Your servant accepts your offer".

Thud!

Edgar dropped to his knees and bowed respectfully.

The mighty existence didn't exhibit any obvious reaction to this but the next moment, the gray mist in this world shifted as another existence appeared.

'A human?' Edgar detected it immediately as Legolas slightly loosened the restrictions of the gray world, letting his senses see.

The sight of the white-haired human made Edgar heave a deep sigh of relief. 'At least I'm not dealing with an enemy god monster'.

Legolas turned to face the mighty existence and bowed respectfully. "Thank you Almighty Hermit for this opportunity, I'll forever cherish it".

With that, Legolas turned to face Edgar. "Are you ready?"

"Yes…" Edgar slightly hesitated as he turned to face the hazy figure of the mighty existence. "Please Great One, what do I call you?"

"Call me…, the Hermit".

Bzzz!

Both humans disappeared through the gray mist ball.

The ability to go to the different locations of the members of his gathering through their gray mist balls was another capability that Legolas unlocked in the gray world after becoming a Grade C Summoner.

Bzzz!

Legolas and Edgar arrived behind the bar, at a dark alley where no one saw them. As soon as he returned, the still shocked Psychic checked himself up.

"Holy Sh*t!"

"I was not hallucinating; it was all real!"

After checking himself thoroughly to confirm that nothing was amiss, Edgar finally turned to look at the newcomer. "And you are?"

"Legolas, nice to meet you Edgar". He extended his hand for a handshake.

Edgar took the handshake. "Nice to meet you too Legolas".

"So, you really want the Warpsnare?" He hesitated. "I must warn you…"

"Do not worry". Legolas interrupted him. "I know exactly how dangerous a Warpsnare is, I only have the confidence to go after it because of my connection to his Almighty the Hermit".

On hearing that term, Edgar's fears faded a bit.

'Yes, I almost forgot, we have a god on our side'.

That pretty much simplified everything for Edgar. To join the Hermit's galactic gathering, he was ready to do everything so long he didn't have to give up his life in exchange for it.

He became troubled the next moment though. "I already rejected Edge".

"You can still meet him again". Legolas smiled. "You're the best in the business, that's why he came for you in the first place".

"Don't worry about me, just introduce me, I'll do the rest".

Legolas was already doing a good job at portraying himself as a warrior who was capable of taking care of himself, Edgar heaved a sigh of relief. The last thing he wanted was to babysit a warrior in such a potentially dangerous hunt.

Before leading the way, he asked one last question. "Can you tell me more about Him? You know, Him, and the gathering".

Legolas smiled. "I'm not supposed to tell you until you become a member".

"But considering you'll soon become one, I suppose I can tell you somethings".

Of course, Legolas wanted to tell him things. What better way to elevate the status, authority, and power of the Hermit than to hype him up personally.

As he slowly told Edgar about the gigantic power that the Hermit possessed, including details about Planet Darvis, Edgar was completely amazed.

'So this is what it feels like outside Austere'.

To Legolas, only one sentence rang in his head.

'The hunt is on'.
