Since tomorrow was the trip to Hwaseong Fortress, Jinhee had to get her guardian's signature on the paper before she could go. Therefore, she could only reluctantly return home after the classes.
As much as Jinhee was hesitant to meet her father, she knew that she had to do it. Swallowing down the saliva, Jinhee forwarded her hand forward in order to knock on the door, but the words she heard made her unable to do so.
"Before Lee Dowon hands over all the wealth to Jinhee, I have to do something."
Jinhee heard her father's voice, and creases appeared between her eyebrows as she carefully leaned closer to the door to hear further. There was a high chance that her parents were planning something against her grandfather Dowon.
The voice that sounded very much like her mother spoke out, "She is the true heiress. If we try to kill him, won't the wealth naturally be passed down to her?"
"It won't after we kill Jinhee," Her father voiced out, and Jinhee's expression grew ashen.
Even though Jinhee knew that her parents did not like her, she never thought that they could go this far. This was an unbelievable feat! Why could someone who gave birth to her would want to kill her? Was it because she is inferior to Jinkyung?
Jinhee immediately shook her head.
'No, Jinhee, you can't let it affect your emotions.'
Repeating the above sentence to herself wasn't enough, and Jinhee tightly clenched her hand, trying to hold in her tears. This was the greatest blow Jinhee suffered in either of her lives. Despite that, she couldn't fall weak to it.
If they did not successfully attain Moonstone Enterprise after Lee Dowon's death, would they have killed her in her previous life? The thought of that made Jinhee nauseous.
Minjoon continued, "That wouldn't be necessary unless she rebels about it. Moreover, I don't think Lee Dowon had told her about her birth secret."
"But what if he is planning to tell her about it? Everything we put in our effort will get destroyed," Jiyoung voiced out— anxiousness visible in her tone.
"We will simply destroy that sly fox before he can do something," Minjoon voiced out.
Hearing the footsteps, Jinhee knew that someone was coming, and things wouldn't turn out well if they found her eavesdropping. Holding tightly the papers closer to her chest, Jinhee softly but hurriedly rushed towards her room.
Opening the door to her room, Jinhee placed the documents on her table and fell down on her bed with many thoughts spreading through her mind.
Placing her hand horizontally over her eyes, Jinhee tried to calm down her emotions. Nonetheless, tears made way down her eyes, and her chest felt especially suffocated.
She wanted to cry out all the pain she felt deep inside. Although she was granted with a second life, she was worried that things would go downhill in this life too, and she wouldn't be able to protect those close to her.
Moreover, no matter how much alienated she was from her parents, the words from them earlier stabbed her heart multiple times. She wanted to yell out why was it her. Silently lying on the bed, she let the emotions overwhelm her.
Her phone rang that instant, and Jinhee immediately sat up on her bed. Wiping away her tears, she took the phone from the bed and received it.
"Hello," Jinhee spoke out— mistakenly, revealing how downcast she felt with her tone.
