SWISH
Naturally, light moves faster than sound, and that seemed true here as well.
The Cloaked Man's pupil widened completely, reflecting a sword pointed at it, glimmering with an amber aura, blazing in the hands of the young man whose words resonated inside the room:
"I choose Drishti herself."
Standing there, the sword, instead of moving any closer than a finger's distance, remained static. Yet, the aura seemed eager to devour both men instantly.
"What do you mean?" one of the men, with a narrowed gaze, inquired.
Due to their orders not to harm the young man in front of them, both men kept their calm even in the face of death, merely standing while a sword was this close to their eyes.
Observing both cloaked figures, the subtle movements of their bodies clearly demonstrated their lack of fear of death, which was expected from someone of their ranks. Ryuk slowly loosened his grip on his sword.
He had already achieved what he wanted from all this, which was to understand three things: these people's loyalty, their true value, and finally, Drishti's opinion of him.
It was clear that even after facing death so closely, both men didn't respond at all, unlike imperfect ones. Ryuk knew that even with his speed, there should have been small movements, like pupils contracting, but there was nothing.
Clearly signifying about their instructions regarding not harming him in any way— indirectly confirming these people's loyalty.
Even after emiting killing intent and going for these people's head, noone arrived to the help them, more especially Drishti herself.
Of course, he understood that from last night that sacrificing some life's to achieve her goal was something which could Drishti easily afford but still, it was necessary to know more about her singal weakness.
A weakness which she herself was not aware.
And third, after saying those words which will directly trigger the woman's mind, her reaction from these words of him will make him finally reach to conclusions about all the speculation he thought until now.
Their senses were rejecting to believe his existence in front of their eyes; it felt like he was just an illusion, nothing else.
"You see, I was beaten pretty badly yesterday. Can't I get compensation?" While pondering other things, he continued to play word games, understanding the importance of this whole conversation in achieving satisfactory results in the future. With a final push, he said, "Can't Lady Drishti let me pour out my frustration on both of you?"
'!?'
The man's eyes widened before relaxing, due to a sudden telepathic message he received from his Master, forming a small smile under his black cover.
WHOOSH
"...My Lady has allowed me to have a small spar with you." The cloaked man's body began to emit intense pressure, not letting his guard down after receiving permission from his Master to engage in a small fight session with this young man.
"But what if, in anger, Lady Drishti, upon seeing her subject beaten, tried to kill me?" Ryuk stated with a soft smile, looking at the men, who seemed confused, but these words were not for them but for someone else observing them.
Of course, Ryuk wanted Drishti Devereaux to withdraw her surveillance from this room, but wasn't it easy for someone of her caliber to easily see through his intentions?
After all, she read him like an open book just yesterday within mere seconds while fighting.
So, Ryuk was one hundred percent sure that right now, Drishti knew that he wanted her to not observe this fight, but he still said those words, confident that she would withdraw her gaze.
Reason?
Her own strength and personality.
Drishti Devereaux was smart enough to create a situation where, without sustaining any damage initially, she measured the level of her enemy beforehand by sacrificing some pawns and then involved herself.
A smart, strong person bound by a natural desire for something maybe very dangerous but when that same desire is turned against them, then?
In conclusion, her search for something interesting will lead her to go in the direction he wanted her to go.
