"Dawn? That's the Dawn that was betrayed and died?" Ning thought with a surprised look.
From what he had learned of the late Blackspire emperor's past, he had realized that his wife, the current empress had actually betrayed him to get her hands on the oathstone, which was what had made the late Emperor so strong.
Ning didn't know much more than that. The only reason he even knew that was because the knowledge about Halios had also included that part.
"How did he become so strong so fast," Ning wondered. "That strength doesn't feel normal at all."
Ning watched the man fight all his might in the air and checked something. When he got the answer, he couldn't help but be surprised.
"A system?" Ning was surprised. "He really found a system huh? And somehow remembered his past life as well. That's… quite lucky of him."
Marcus swung his sword, sending out a sword slash that bent space and cut reality. The empress pulled out a lantern that glowed with a light that healed space and reality at the same time.
An invisible barrier appeared around her at the same time, blocking the sword slash.
"I see you've made good usage of the Divine Flame I brought back from the secret realm, bitch. Now, I'll be taking back that as well, along with everything else you own," Marcus said.
"How are you alive? You aren't supposed to be alive," the Empress cried out. Her emotions were in shambles as she didn't know what to think.
Until now, she had let everyone believe that Dawn's death had been a complete accident and had taken over what he had owned. However, if they somehow were let know that it was her that had killed him, there were people that were loyal to Dawn that would certainly come after her.
She was grateful all of them were unconscious at the moment. For now, there was still time.
"Halios, come help me," she shouted. "You don't have to attack, just protect me."
Halios quickly flew into the air and stood in front of the Empress to protect her.
"You… are you really going to defend that bitch? After what she fucking did to me?" Marcus was getting emotional himself. "I thought of you as my friend."
"I follow the will of whoever holds my stone," Halios said.
"Damn you! You fucking betrayed me too," Marcus shouted and started swinging attacks at Halios, but he was simply too weak to be able to hurt an Immortal God realm being.
"Protect me while I prepare," the Empress said and started preparing for an attack.
"Mistress, the person from this morning has reappeared again," Halios said suddenly.
"What?" the Empress looked surprised. "That wasn't him?"
"No, he is standing down there," Halios pointed towards Ning who was on the ground.
The Empress turned around to look and saw Ning who was watching everything that was happening in the air with a relaxed look on his face.
"Who are you?" the Empress asked.
"Oh, don't mind me, just keep on fighting. I'm just here for the Oathstone," Ning said with a genuine-looking smile from the ground.
"You!" the Empress got angry. "You actually told someone else about the Oathstone. Is that how much you want to kill me?"
Marcus looked confused. "He's not with me, bitch. If someone told him about the Oathstone, then it's you," he said. He then turned towards Ning and looked at him with a worried look on his face. "How are you still standing?"
"Huh? What do you mean?" Ning asked.
"How are you still conscious inside the formation, bastard? Stop acting like you don't know fucking shit," Marcus shouted.
pan,d a-n0vel,c-o-m "Geez, stop cussing so much. Do you have a cussing system or what?" Ning asked as he looked around. "I didn't even realize there was a formation working around here. It was too weak for me to notice."
He looked up after saying as much and was confronted with a look from Marcus that looked like he had just killed his mother.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" Ning asked.
"How… how the fuck do you know about my fucking system?!" Marcus asked with a terrified look.
Ning's eyes went wide as well. "No way! Is that your system? Really?" he asked. "A cussing system? How does it work? Do you get strong by cussing or what?"
"How the fuck do you know so much?" Marcus shouted even more.
"Goddamn, you sure like making use of your system," Ning said after listening to Marcus' shouting. "Well, at least it makes sense why there is no one out to watch the fight. You made everyone fall asleep huh?"
He looked back at Marcus. "Stop looking at me so intently, she might just kill you," he said as he pointed back towards the Empress who was just done preparing her attack.
A fire billowed in front of her, turning into a sun three times her size. The glow from the solar attack was so bright that an unsuspecting person would believe it was day already.
Ning looked at the attack in the sky and saw Marcus prepare to block it. His sword glowed a weird silver as he readied his attack.
Sword domain appeared around him, attacking everything with the Sword Qi, while he prepared to launch his own attack.
"Die, bitch!" he shouted as he slashed in front of him. The world distorted once again as the attack flew towards the Empress. However, before it could reach her, Halios appeared in front of her and put his hands forward.
The attack disappeared like mist in sunlight. So much power was gone just like that.
"No! My attack," Marcus was shocked. He still had a hard time understanding that Halios was going to actively stop him now.
The woman saw the look on his face and smiled crazily. "Hahaha! That's what you get for trying to kill me. This would've been so much easier had you stayed dead," she shouted at him.
"Never mind it though," she said. "I will do it for you."
And then she launched her attack.
