Chapter 1349 Visiting Old Friends
Ning and Hadden teleported to another location after they were done talking to Sophie. Their next destination was a bright room in the Blackhawk Academy where the headmaster was sitting with a bunch of documents on his table.
Ning's sudden arrival scared the headmaster and he was ready to attack. However, when he saw Ning's face, he stopped.
"Am I seeing things right?" he asked.
"How have you been headmaster?" Ning asked the old man.
"How did you get in here?" the old man asked.
"I have my ways," Ning said. "I came to see how you've been doing headmaster. And if possible, can you call for teacher Hayan too?
Sometime later, Hayan was in the room as well, and he too was surprised to see Ning there. While Ning had been a small part of their lives, the impact he had left was big enough that they would likely never forget about him.
Ning talked to them for a while before leaving.
His next destination was Kaleb, who spent most of his time now in Greendove city, helping his family's various businesses.
In the past many years, he had grown strong and capable to the point that he could barely leave his house without anyone looking at him. So, he liked to spend most of his free time in private, away from other's eyes.
In the past many years, he had grown strong and capable to the point that he could barely leave his house without anyone looking at him. So, he liked to spend most of his free time in private, away from other's eyes.
As such, finding him without anyone was no difficult task.
Ning's arrival caught him off guard. Immediately, he had prepared his Wind core, ready to attack. He shot out a technique that caught one's enemies in the wind. However before it could touch Ning, Hadden moved forward and waved his hands, pouring out Void Essence through it. Immediately, the attack that came for them fell apart.
Kaleb was surprised.
"Is this how you greet old friends?" Ning asked.
It was only then that Kaleb recognized Ning.
"Huh? You bastard!" he said with a small smile. "I thought you had gone off and died somewhere. Where have you been all this time? I've been meaning to thank you for the techniques and crystals you gave me."
A woman appeared from the side and quickly met up with them. Alena, the Emperor's twin sister, and now the leader of the elite guards.
Ning sat down with the two of them and talked for a while with the soldiers constantly on guard. These two knew Ning hadn't killed their grandfather, but his involvement alone had made them hate him.
The resentment was still there even after 20 years, but it seemed to have mellowed a lot. The Emperor and the princess talked to him as though they were acquaintances. At the very least, they were grateful for what Ning had given them before leaving.
They talked for a while and in the end, Ning was allowed to leave without anyone trying to capture him. He had arrived in the palace without anyone's notice. If he wanted to leave, he could, so there was no point.
The Emperor then gave an order that would put Ning's name out of the list of people to look out for, but Ning would never know about it. "Where to next?" Hadden asked.
"I have two more friends to meet," Ning said. "And then we can return."
His next destination was Grayhorn City in the Whiteowl region. It was where the Foreman family had left after their family head's demise 20 years back.
The one who led it now was the young man who was so friendly with Ning back then. Tenn Foreman.
When Ning last met Tenn, he had been told to simply leave by Tenn. However, this time around, the young man welcomed him with open arms.
"Brother Ning!" the grown Tenn came out and hugged Ning. "How have you been? I've been hoping you would return for such a long time."
"I'm doing fine, Tenn," Ning said. "And I see you've been doing great as well. I can't believe you married Yorsha."
Tenn's eyes went wide. "How did you know?" he asked, turning around to look at his red-haired wife. "I just do," Ning said.
"Let's not stay out here. Come one! My greatest friend has returned to me, we must have a feast."
"I can't stay for long, Tenn. I must return soon," Ning said.
"Ah, then no feast," Tenn said. "But you must accept some drinks with me. Come on."
Ning sighed and accepted in the end. Tenn didn't let Ning go for hours when they did start drinking, and he even made the servants prepare a small feast in the end.
They talked about the past all the time, with Tenn telling Ning how incredible the gift he had left him with had been.
By the time Ning was ready to leave, it was dark outside, and Hadden was drunk out of his mind.
