Chapter 60: Noise Complaint
“Liz, hey Liz,” I whispered softly into her ear. “Don’t you think it’s time to wake up?”
“Mnhn, no,” she mumbled, pulling the cover over her head.
“I might have gone a bit overboard,” I pondered. “I didn’t think you would be this tired.”Fiind updated novels at novelhall.com
“A bit overboard?” Liz grumbled from under the cover. “Did you forget that I’m only human again?”
“You make it sound like you weren’t more than eager to join in,” I giggled. “How about we get up and go get something to eat?”
“I don’t know if my legs are working,” she said, a small giggle escaping her lips. “You might have to carry me.”
“Don’t think for a second that I wouldn’t,” I smirked, pulling down the cover to reveal her face.
“Ugh,” Liz squinted at the sudden light hitting her eyes. “What time is it anyway?”
“Hmm, sometime in the afternoon, I think?” I replied, glancing at the window.
“The afternoon?!” She blurted before jolting up, narrowly avoiding headbutting me.
“Does it matter what time it is?” I smirked. “We don’t have any plans today.”
“But still,” Liz groaned, rubbing her eyes. “We are supposed to be adventurers, not sloths.”
“Well, we did stay up until sunrise,” I said with a mischievous smirk. “I think you are allowed to sleep in.”
“I suppose,” she sighed. “So, what do you want to do today?”
“Do we have to do something?” I wondered. “We could have a day to ourselves.”
“I don’t think I can survive that,” Liz replied with a slight blush on her face.
“I never said anything about doing that,” I teased, sticking out my tongue. “Unless you want to, of course?”
“Well, maybe...” she stopped and shook her head. “No, let’s not.”
“It should be illegal to be this cute,” I smirked, kissing her cheek.
“Stop,” Liz giggled, playfully trying to escape my kisses. “You’re not making it any easier.”
“Whatever do you mean?” I asked, batting my eyelashes.
“You know perfectly well what you are doing,” Liz sighed. “I have a question or two.”
“Oh? Ask away,” I whispered as I pushed her back down on the bed.
“It’s about yesterday’s lesson,” she replied, covering my mouth with her hand. “So you can calm down with that.”
“First, you seduce me to get out of the lesson, and then you shoot me down to get back into it,” I muttered, rolling off her. “So, what do you want to know?”
“The rest of it, I guess?” Liz said, turning to look at me.
“I’m not sure if there is anything left,” I pondered. “I covered animals, monsters, humans, and dragons.”
“What about beastkin?”
“I’m not exactly sure since I haven’t seen them in the past,” I replied, tapping my chin. “But if I had to guess, I think they fit the same category as humans since your magic signature is quite similar, and I haven’t felt any magic stones from any of the ones we have met.”
“It would be fun to visit the Beast Nation one day,” Liz said.
“I’m sure we will end up there one day, one way or another,” I smiled. “So, what’s your second question?”
“Remember what you said at the start? That dragons aren’t monsters in the sense that I think?” Liz asked. “What did you mean by that?”
“Most monsters are savage and attack humans and other monsters alike, right?”
“Uhm, yes?” Liz replied. “What about it?”
“But they don’t kill their own species. They also rarely attack animals. While I, on the other hand, wiped out my own race,” I continued. “And then we have humans. You kill animals, monsters, and, most importantly, each other. You wage war, murder, kidnap, torture, and steal from each other. The list goes on. So, who are the real monsters here?”
“Not all humans are like that,” Liz said with a frown. “But I understand where you’re coming from.”
“The world is a cruel place,” I replied with a deep sigh. “But enough about that. The lesson is over.”
“Just so you know,” Liz said as she snuggled up against me. “I don’t think you’re a monster.”
“I’m afraid you might have a biased opinion, but thank you,” I smiled and put my arm around her. “Can we go back to what we did before now?”
“I won’t survive that,” Liz giggled. “You will have to wait.”
“Perhaps, but that would mean holding back,” I chuckled. “And where is the fun in that?”
“I want to sink through the floor,” Liz groaned. “Can we talk about something else?”
“I guess I have bullied you enough,” Mira smirked. “For now, at least.”
“I said I was sorry,” Liz muttered. “Mira, are you free today?”
“I guess so?” Mira pondered. “I haven’t made any plans other than taking a nap.”
“I was wondering if you could cut my hair?”
“Me? Why can’t Luna do it?” Mira asked, looking at me.
“You usually cut my hair,” Liz replied.
“I don’t really know how to do a good job,” I added.
If Liz had asked me to do it, I would probably have messed it up if I had done it myself. I suppose I could have taken her to someplace in the capital.
“Well, I don’t mind,” Mira said, smirking at me. “Do you want me to cut your hair, as well?”
“That won’t be necessary,” I smiled. “I like mine as it is.”
“I see,” Mira replied, glancing at my hair. “When do you want to do it?”
“Uhm, I don’t know,” Liz said, turning to me. “What do you think, Luna?”
“You can do it after we are done eating if you want,” I pondered. “Actually, I was thinking of going out to buy something, so I can do that in the meantime.”
“What are you buying?” Liz asked with a curious expression.
“That’s a secret,” I grinned. “Just something I need.”
Liz squinted at me. “That’s worrisome in itself.”
“Whatever do you mean?” I asked, batting my eyelashes. “I’m just going to the capital to buy some things.”
“You’re going to the capital?” Liz asked with a slightly worried expression. “Try not to get into any trouble.”
“I’m not a child,” I muttered. “How much trouble can I possibly get into from a short trip to the merchant’s district?”
“Maybe I should go with you...” Liz pondered.
“I will be fine, trust me,” I smirked. “You have your own thing to do.”
“Why are you so worried?” Mira wondered. “Did something happen in the capital?”
“Didn’t we tell you about it when we got home?” I replied. “Maybe we left that part out.”
“What part?” Mira asked, leaning over the table.
“Nothing serious,” I chuckled. “A noble threatened to execute me.”
“What did you do?” Mira blurted out, her eyes wide.
“I didn’t do anything,” I shrugged. “He wanted my room, and I said no. He was just a pompous ass.”
“Don’t forget that you also almost killed an S rank adventurer,” Liz added.
“He deserved it,” I muttered. “I still feel like I did nothing wrong. Trouble found me, not the other way around.”
“That just means that it can happen again,” Liz said with a frown. “Are you sure I shouldn’t come with you?”
“You worry too much. Don’t you trust me?” I asked, tilting my head and batting my eyelashes. “It will be fine.”
Liz squinted at me before she shook her head, a deep sigh escaping her lips.
“Don’t you think you’re being unfair, Liz?” Mira wondered. “Luna isn’t a child.”
“Thank you, Mira,” I smirked. “I trust you will take good care of Liz while I’m gone?”
“Of course! Do you have any preference for her haircut?” Mira asked with a grin.
“It’s my hair,” Liz muttered.
“I’m sure Liz knows best,” I chuckled. “She will look cute no matter the haircut.”
After we were done eating, Mira and Liz went up to our room while I teleported to the capital to do my shopping.
