“We’re finally here.”
We were gathered outside the dungeons gates.
“We’re finally going to the upper tier dungeons! I’ve been looking forward to this!”
“I’m sorry we were so slow getting here because of my equipment lady Rana.”
“It’s not really Hannah’s fault is it? I wanted to go to the dungeon together with Hannah so I don’t mind.”
“That’s right Hannah don’t worry about it. Besides we had a totally different reason for not going to the dungeon on Saturday and Sunday. Do you notice anything happening around us?”
“Hmm? Now that you mention it…. There are a lot of people huh?”
Even though it was early in the morning there were a lot of people around the gate to the dungeon.
""
“Yeah, it’s the fourth week of the month. There aren’t any classes this week that way everyone has time to go to the dungeon.”
“Its also the last week for the first years to get their jobs.”
“So that’s why there’s so many people here.”
“That’s also why Maria was at her guild even though it was Monday morning.”
“Ah, You’re right!”
Hannah seemed to have finally understood what was going on. But I guess I can’t really blame her for not knowing, when everyday is a holiday one day is not really any different than the other.
“Hmm? But isn’t it mostly first years that are here? All of them have on blue uniforms.”
“Hmm?”
I took a closer look after what Hannah said and realized that roughly half of the people here were in fact first years.
“Shouldn’t they still have classes going on for those trying to get a particular job?”
“Yeah they should? Does that mean that the ones here already have a job?”
“That’s strange. The number of first years gathered here was over a hundred, it would be fine if it was a couple dozen even but it seems abnormal for this many of them to be here.”
""
There are still 10 days left before the deadline, in the real life Dun-life I was told that it was normal for students to wait until the very last minute to choose a job.
“Oh, someone’s here.”
“That’s…”
Ester and Ciara pointed out an old man in a lab coat. When he came forward all the first years gathered around him. Although that explains what’s going on here.
“Hello, you young people are the future of this world. I am the director, Miston. I have invited you here today to participate in an experiment in which you will all hopefully meet the requirements to get high ranking jobs. Starting today I would like you all to dive into the dungeon with one of the staff members from our school. Of course you will be doing this without selecting a job beforehand.”
As the director announced this in a loud voice various members of the staff all came out and lined up behind him. Seeing this most of the first years seemed to be a little overwhelmed as they realized what they had just heard.
“Well, I get the gist of what’s going on.”
“Huh? Really?”
Ester turned around a little surprised, but this most likely had something to do with the information that I leaked.
“We received some information from one of our sources that defeating monsters might be part of the steps to make higher ranking jobs appear.”
See….
Although there is quite a bit of danger involved in facing a monster without a job so it looks like they are sending staff in with everyone to try and eliminate this danger as much as possible. While its true that many jobs require you defeat so many monsters before hand this condition was actually originally intended to be completed another way. However the original way was tedious since you had to get a job, complete the conditions and then change jobs before reaching level 15. But someone invented slimepop and that completely circumvented the entire process and made it much faster as well. In the end, the development team’s idea was completely negated and everyone used the slimepop work around.
There was even originally a silver chest boss drop called a low class job change ticket that was meant for you to use after meeting the conditions for higher level jobs. However this ticket ended up having no use for the majority of players.
Of course, I didn’t mention anything about slimepop to the researchers. Our guild is keeping that information to ourselves. I felt that if I told everyone everything then that would remove the passion and the fun of doing anything for themselves. Part of the fun is searching for a way to do something and finding the most efficient way. Although I’m sure someone will figure it out soon enough on their own. But for now the the dungeon is a good work around.
“Well, it looks like their coming along just fine shall we go ahead then?”
“Should we not watch?”
“Nah it’s fine. Let’s go raise our level in the dungeon.”
I wonder how many of the first years will be able to get high level jobs in the future. Our guild might have more people to select from in the future, I wish you all good luck.
