Chapter 230 - not again, Not Again, NOT AGAIN!
"Good grief! Ester, Y-You really are… geez!"
"La, Lana-sama. Please forgive me"
"You truly haven't yet realized, Ester! It is never good to defeat your opponent too early no matter how easy they are to handle! You have to have more fun!"
To no one's surprise, Lana puffs her cheeks in anger and scolds Ester right after the boss monster abruptly sank into the sea of effect.
Her angry face was cute to be honest, making me warm and fluffy albeit it wasn't the same for Ester who was having a troubled face facing her. Is this the so-called gap?
The boss battle ended in no time. I think it didn't even take a minute from the beginning of battle to sort it out? Well, that's a normal thing to happen when using <Princess's knight awakening>.
The exhilarating feeling of defeating the boss by outbursting all your mana saved precisely for this moment really feels good. I, too, have
done that many times in the game.
Albeit one has to be careful regarding this and take down the opponent in timeframe of outburst lest the situation devolve into something messy where they have completely used up their MP and opponent with its aggro meter at its finest is then facing you......
While I was thinking of that, I suddenly noticed Lana looking at me with an expectant expression. What, what did I miss? Why is she suddenly looking at me like that?
"Hey-hey Zephyr. Just one more boss battle, please. Let's re-pop, okay?"
The way Lana pleaded completely shot down my heart. I clench my teeth tightly to suppress the urge of almost putting my hand on my chest and stop myself from letting out a groan.
Guh. What a way to do it, Lana. She may think it was rather normal, but it was a one-shot skill move to me and no matter what she has to say, I would fulfill.
It's just that there are also some requests I am unable to fulfill.
"Uh, It's unfortunate but field bosses can't re-pop, Lana."
A groan slipped out of my mouth but I somehow managed to convey it.
Unlike the cases of final bosses, it is not possible to re-pop field bosses artificially. In other words, the <Official Hidden Tactic> is ineffective.
The main reason is that the field boss doesn't have any limitation of how many people can face it, unlike the boss room where only five people are allowed to enter. So field bosses can be subjugated by multiple parties.
Therefore, one will find lots of field bosses gimmicks when they advance to high grade dungeons. They are basically the opponents that are to be handled through raid battle.
And if you move further on hierarchy, the situation becomes even more messy when facing field bosses of top grade dungeons, where they are simply so strong that it would be hard to take them down unless you battle with a large number of people (basically the whole guild). Though that's the explanation for later.
Anyway, because of the possibility that several people can fight it all together, the official tactics performance has been downgraded to the very limit against them. Just imagine, challengers don't need to work hard and they can reap the XP points and item materials easily.
Of course that's unacceptable for developers no matter what, and only tactics for boss room are made possible. Let's also not forget that even the official tactics are no more than the developer's last resort. If possible, they don't even want tactics to "exist". I mean, the developers.
We could have just traveled to the final floor easily if it had been a beginner dungeon but it's difficult to do the same in the Intermediate dungeon. Not that difficulty should be disregarded since it's one of the important points that spice up the game. It strikes up a good balance to say.
The crux is just raising the level by defeating the field bosses on the way and easily capturing the dungeon isn't all that enjoyable.
Nevertheless, I still couldn't stop myself from wishing if there could have been a way to re-pop the field boss by looking at the current situation.
As I sadly explain the situation minus the insider part, Lana received a shock to the point I can even see the illusion of lightning falling behind her.
Ahh. A gloom is hanging over Lana who's usually so cheerful...... This seems to have made her depressed considerably.
"Ha, haa~"
"Ah, Lana-sama... "
Well, Ester response can be said to be the best in regarding exploration but for Lana who had wanted to have a bit more fun by fighting the boss, this was but an act of dampening her enthusiasm.
I hadn't predicted this would come out as such a huge shock for her.
Afterwards, all the members except Ester tried cheering up the depressed Lana but the shadow that had been casting over her didn't clear away and it was now time for us to return.
Since we had already defeated the <Jurra Torutoru>, we started-up the teleportation circle of 20th floor, step on it and ends our exploration for that day.
After we return to the Intermediate dungeon gate, I along with the other two see off Lana and Ester who said they are going back to the aristocratic dormitory for that day.
Hannah also parted there, apparently she has to fulfill alchemy quota or something, which only leaves behind me and Sierra in the end.
"I'm a bit worried. I hope Lana-dono didn't brood over this topic for long"
"Hmm, she is like a child who has been deprived of fun. No wait, she's still child, I forgot"
"Aren't you the same? Can you say you would be able to keep your calm if you're also deprived of fun?"
"Umm, sounds impossible"
"See, you're not any different either"
Alas, I couldn't refute Sierra's words.
I thought Lana was exaggerating with her reaction but it doesn't sound funny anymore imagining if it had happened to me.
Ester isn't the one to blame who gave her best, it's just her timing was bad.
"I hope they reconcile soon. I don't want to see them breaking up"
"I, too, hope so. It should be fine I think, remember, they are also childhood friends"
I was optimistic at this point.
Just like how it was an everyday matter for me to feel depressed and tense at the game. That's why I was thinking they will be depressed for a while and will reconcile soon.
That's what I thought until the night when Ester came to my room.
"Zephyr-dono, please teach me how can I patch up with Lana-sama"
Hey-hey, I'm not omniscient, you know?
