Chapter 106: Chapter 106 – The Countesses

Many decorated carriages rolled into the Duke Pavlov’s mansion and elaborately dressed men and women disembarked.

He too was dressed for the occasion, but the only problem.....he was not invited.

After his explosive proposal, lady Hiliana completely lost trust. She not only revoked his position as the twins’ tutor, but also set a barrier from entering the mansion.

With his powers, no barrier stood a chance. He simply just walked past it into the mansion. Right now, he was waiting for Feng and the others to finally leave the room.

Standing out on the balcony, Yubiri watched the door through a frosted mirror.

His hands were cold from waiting out in the frosty snow.

Finally, when he was about to freeze, a sight of warmth entered his vision. Feng walked out of her room in a sparkly red dress. The rubies in her clothes shone brightly under the magic lamps.

Every step she took, her red ruby shoes glistened light.

Young Feng Mei was beautiful... but that was not what made his heart pound. In fact, it was her smile that caught his heart. She was laughing in glee as she talked to the twins.

They both seem to be arguing about something as they walked on either side of her.

Feng just hugged them close and kissed their cheeks.

Yubiri closed his eyes tightly. ‘I really really don’t like them.....’

Suddenly he felt a small glare directing his way. With his eyes narrowed, he challenged that gaze.

The green eyes of the little boy shone brightly and the colder wind turned frosty.

Yubiri’s hands froze over completely. He instantly used a fire spell to warm them up. Even at a young age, the two boys had an immense amount of powers. But that was not enough to defeat him.

Ethan just smiled and mouthed. “Stalker,”

“I’m not stalking....” he pouted, watching the three enter the ballroom.

He was very, very tempted to just blow apart the doors of the balcony and rush inside. but that will only increase lady Hiliana’s ire.

“I’ll come back... soon... they might forgive me...” in hopes of that happening, he sent one of his envoys to give a huge present to Feng and her family.

With one lasting look at the ballroom, he flew away.

Inside the room, Ethan let out a breath. “At last,”

Elle jumped out from the side and punched his arm playfully. “At last what?”

“An annoyance just left,”

“Who?” Feng curiously looked at him.

“No one.” Ethan moved closer and held her hand. “You will dance with me first, right?”

“No, she will be dancing with me,” Aiden whispered, adjusting his tie.

Feng Mei grimaced. ‘this problem again? Ah, last time I danced with one and the other got upset. It’s better to avoid it at most.’

“Hmmmm I promised lady Hiliana I will be dancing with her,”

“Why are you dancing with a lady?” Alvin kindly bowed, holding out his hand. He kissed her gently. “as per family tradition, you have to dance with the men of Rofles family first. Since my father and grandfather are not here with us, I will be dancing with you today. Is that okay?”

“That’s great,” she enthusiastically accepted.

“I will take you to grandma; the two of you, why don’t you go meet the duke,”

The twins looked at each other with a small frown.

“Don’t delay, he must be waiting,” Feng urged them.

But the two seemed sour at that idea.

“Come on, guys, I will dance with you after that,”

“Me next then,” Aiden beat the others to it.

“I will choose in random, no fighting,”

Alvin led her to where lady Hiliana and lady Perlin were greeting the guests. They were talking to two other women with bright smiles on their faces.

“Grandma, I have brought her,”

“Oh, here she is,” lady Hiliana lovingly pulled her close. “You look spectacular dear. Oh Elle, you look so pretty in pale green. I am happy you chose to wear a dress unlike last time,”

“Grandma~” she pouted softly. “I want to look cute like Feng,”

“You are cute my darling,” lady Hiliana pinched her soft cheeks. “Young ladies, these two are my sweet sweet girls. This is Feng Mei Rofles, my daughter and you have already met Elle and Alvin Rofles.”

The older of the ladies smiled kindly. “I remember Elle. She was just a wiggling baby when I last saw you. Now, look at you, a blooming lady. I even heard you have awakened your powers? Isn’t that amazing?”

Elle hid behind Feng’s skirt.

“Elle, Feng, give your greeting to Countess Lady Beatrice Cogne And countess lady Talia Flemings,”

“Greetings,” Elle shyly whispered.

Feng Mei bowed gracefully as she was taught. “Greetings,”

“Oh lovely child, that was graceful as a flower,” countess Beatrice held her hand and gently pulled her close. “Let me take a good look at my goddaughter,”

“You are already stealing her. She is my goddaughter. Both of them are.” countess Talia hugged Elle and kissed her cheeks gently. “Oh Hiliana, you must be having a wonderful time having so many kids running around. I just so wish my William was more at home. He rarely returns from his academy,”

“So does my Claus,” Countess Beatrice sighed. “Alvin, this year you will join the class right. You skipped a lot of last year,” she patted his back.

Alvin kindly smiled. “I will be rejoining along with my sister now that she has manifested.”

“That’s great child, Claus has been bugging me to ask when you will return. He missed your bouts,”

“So does William,”

The two countesses happily chatted with each other.

Feng moved a little closer to lady Hiliana and Perlin, who remained silent. “Lady Perlin, are you okay?”

“I-I’m fine dearest,” Her eyes looked to her right at the balcony where the twins stood with the young duke with a sad smile. “I’m really fine...”

Feng Mei knew exactly what she craved for.

She wanted children of her own.

She must have felt so left out when the other ladies were talking about their kids and grandkids.

“Don’t worry, they will come around,” she whispered ever so softly and hugged her waist.

“I hope so.. I really hope so....”
