128 Chapter 128 – The third test

Days went by and the final day for the last test came about. This round only involved meeting the approved teachers they had chosen and if the teacher chose them, they get to stay in the school.

If the teacher they chose rejected them they had the option to have an open pool where every student will be put together and the teachers who want to choose an apprentice will get to choose one.

In this round, they had nothing to do.

Only fate can tell if they got the place or not.

Feng was slightly a bit more nervous than usual. Her time abilities were considered a rarity and not many teachers specialize in that. And also, the teacher she chose was enigmatic. There was a high chance she would get rejected by that said man.

Elle suddenly held her hand. “Don’t worry, we’ll make it.”

“I hope so,”

The carriage was ready for them. And this time duke and lady Hiliana also tagged along. They feared that the last time’s incident will repeat itself.

To their surprise, Claudius’s carriage waited out the gates of the mansion.

Lady Perlin looked at the golden shimmering carriage with apprehension. “I don’t know what the kid is aiming at. Why is he trying to get all chummy with us,”

“I believe he has taken a liking to our boys,” the duke assured her.

But a lady’s eyes were much more detail oriented. She had seen the way Claudius looked at Feng. It was curiosity mixed with something else. It was not love though for sure.

‘we’ll see what this kid is aiming at sooner. He will reveal himself just as Yubiri did.’ She leaned back on the cushions.

The carriage rode to the school without a hitch. They all climbed down and walked through a massive crowd of parents.

This test as well as the parents were not allowed in.

So, lady Hiliana had asked for Alvin to help them out.

Feng looked at her cousin with a slight sigh. He looked tired to be honest. “it’s okay mum we can go in on our own. Elle knows the way.”

Lady Hiliana did not relent though. “Elle mentioned that you got lost and was chased by a man. It’s too risky for me to leave you alone like that. Alvin, take good care of the girls,”

Lady Perlin was also giving words of confidence to the boys. Since they had already been chosen by the principal, this round of testing was just for show.

Both Ethan and Aiden nodded and ran over to Feng. They held both her hands on either side. “Shall we go in?”

“Yep,”

They walked in as a group. Even Claudius followed after them.

So many followed them as usual but Feng was used to it by now.

The kind teacher who took her second test was waiting at the entrance of the second building with other teachers to guide the one who had chosen the teachers themselves to meet their mentor.

Feng and everyone had to go their separate ways.

The kind lady led her to a secluded part of the building. Here the hallways were not that extravagant... some parts were even covered in cobwebs.

‘Where does this teacher live? This place looks so unkept,”

The teacher paused by a door with an award smile. “You will have other chances as well,”

Feng just gaped at her. ‘She is so sure that this guy will reject me. Oh, my god... this is so bad... my school life is going to be ruined because of this choice I made. Will I even be picked in the open draw? I don’t think so... bye-bye Ethan and Aiden, bye-bye Elle I guess I’m going to a different school. , maybe somewhere far will accept me’

The door was drawn open from inside and a family funky-looking device faced her.

Feng paused for a second. ‘This seems awfully familiar. I think I’m getting a bad premonition about this”

The device was moved away from the doorway and the unkempt man looked at the teacher “I told you not to bother me. I don’t want any untalented students. I have my research and that’s all I need...”

Feng rolled her eyes. ‘Okay I wouldn’t have chosen him myself. To be honest he is kind of creepy,”

The kind etcher smiled softly. “But you can test her aptitude. She has time ability.”

The man’s eyes finally fell on her.

But Feng instantly moved behind the teacher’s skirt. ‘no no no no.. I’m not picking him as my teacher. Even if I have to study elsewhere I’m not letting him be my mentor,’

“don’t be shy dear come introduce yourself,” the kind teacher pulled her from behind and made her stand up straight.

the unkempt man froze. “it’s you! Oh my god it’s you! I was searching for you for so long! Come in. I’ll accept you!”

Feng looked up at the kind teacher. “Can I change my decision?”

“Why is it so dear? He is the one you requested for,”

“He is creepy,” she openly admitted the truth. the man seemed unbothered by this. “I have so much to do. now that you are here, it’s going to be so easy. Remember this device. It’s the newer version. With you here, we can test it easily,”

Feng moved back, hiding behind her skirt again. “I don’t wish to be a testing rat. Please let me leave teacher,”

The man leaned down. “it can’t be. I’m not so scary. don’t worry dear. It’s all going to be safe,”

“Nope! Nah ah!” she walked away.

The kind teacher awkwardly smiled at and followed after her. “The open round is at the third building. I’ll take you there,”

“Thank you... and I’m sorry for putting you through that,”

“it’s okay dear. If you don’t want him as your mentor its well understood. But it is quite rare for him to actually accept any students,”

“He wanted to do testing with me? I don’t think I accept that,”

Feng was led to a big hall where almost three hundred students waited. Looking at the sheer number, she panicked. ‘What the hell am I going to do if I fail? They will talk about how much disgrace I’ve brought to my family... Lady Hiliana will have to face the brunt of that attack.’

She lowered her head and waited.

Almost twenty teachers came about and stood in front of them,.

They looked at each of them first. A few teachers seriously looked disinterested. They didn’t even bother to choose a student and left the hall.

Feng’s hands started to sweat.

“The students who are called please come up front,” another teacher started to call out the names.

The students called all went up front with cheerful smiles on their faces.

Feng waited and waited and waited but her name was not called.

Finally, fifty students were chosen the rest... they failed.

She had failed.

Feng sighed out of exhaustion.

‘Shit....’

“As for the others, you guys can come back next year after improving your abilities. Best of luck,” the one who recited the names left along with the teachers. As they were about to reach the door it was thrown open.

the crazy man walked in panting. “I still haven’t chosen yet!!”

Feng froze. ‘Should I accept his offer.... Maybe I should.. I have no other go,’

The man pointed to her. “I want her as my student,”

The teachers there all looked at him shocked.

“What is your name girl?”

Feng stepped up. “Feng Mei Rofles,”

“oh, the Rofles kid. Good, good. Come with me.”

Feng silently followed after him. “Do I get a chance to reject your offer?”

“Nope,” the man smirked. “In an open choosing is like this you don’t get to reject or change your mind. Because you all get to stay in the school thanks to the teacher’s kindest heart,”

Feng sighed. “Fine but I don’t completely agree with these testing you talk of. I get to choose which I participate in and which ones I don’t. You have to guide me in my training every day without fail,”

“Girl, I said you don’t have a choice in this,” he raised a brow.

“I do have a choice. I can just leave this school and join another one. You seem desperate teacher. All you can do is accept my offer or else I will leave. My family is rich and influential I can get into another school. even though mediocre I can study well at any place I want to,’

The crazy man froze. “you’re really gusty.”

“I’m not gutsy. I’m just a girl who knows what she wants. Now if you want me to be your student you have to follow my rules. Let’s sign a contract before that. In case you go back on your words,”

The man gulped. “Gods the Rofles have raised you into a cougar at such a young age,”

Feng chuckled. “Are you ready to sign the contract or not?”

“Fine I’ll sign it.”
