149 Chapter 149 – Second life

“we’re already surrounded” duke Lineti whispered glaring into the darkness.

Feng felt her heart stop at that moment. She hurriedly untied the sword tied to her hip belt and tossed it into the alleyway hoping that guy would take it and leave them be.

Risking all their lives for a sword was not worth it.

And she only had two lives left.

“it’s too late for that,” the dark figure emerged from the darkness giving her deep chills.

Feng hurriedly jumped down from Haily’s arm.

“uncle you must run! Run please” Elle cried loudly.

Feng ran up to her uncle and held his hand. She had saved up one of her unique props just in case something like this happened. the last time she was not calm enough to think properly. “Guys get close to me.”

Dule Lineti glanced down at her. “You must back away. This guy seems dangerous.”

.....

“It’s okay uncle. I have something with me that can protect us.” She searched through the small pouch hung inside her coat. It was to kept her snacks and to keep the props she had gotten for the game.

The mirror’s handle hit her hand. She moved it aside to take out the small circular rusted medallion.

The duke’s eyes slightly widened looking at it.

The game system’s notification popped up right then, giving her the actual information about the medallion.

Best

{the mystical medallion of Linus ruins (fragment 1/5)

Mage class: unable to calculate

How to use: can be activated with a drop of blood to establish ownership.

Ability: can cast an impenetrable shield when deployed. Since it’s in fragments only ten percent of the power can be used...}

Feng immediately grabbed a hold of her uncle’s sword slicing her palm.

“Feng what are you doing!” the duke panicked and pulled her hand to check on her

She pulled away and hurriedly dipped the blood down to the medallion. The small droplets of blood got sucked into the rusted thing, giving it a red sheen.

a huge red shield was activated right in front of their eyes. the huge dome-like structure covered them from the ground to at least ten feet above. it had many fascinating red waves like swirls swimming around it.

the duke glanced at the medallion in her hand and then at Feng. “it’s not ideal to use magical told like these ones. you don’t even know what kind of side effects it might have on your body!” he seemed to have disregarded the opponent and was looking down at her worriedly.

“I know what it is, though. this is the medallion from Linus ruins.”

the duke’s face became even weirder after hearing this. “When did you go to such a place?”

“I didn’t go there. but I bought it in some market when we were traveling here. Yubiri was the one who said it was a shield. don’t worry he personally assured me that it was harmless.”

“Still.” the duke groaned loudly. “we’ll talk about this later,”

The shield suddenly distorted. The red bloody looking swirls all concentrated at a spot and formed into a beautiful wave-like shape.

it was obvious that it was being attacked from outside.

all the clones of that masked man started to attack the shield. the more the guy attacked the lesser the red swirls became.

the shield was getting weaker. she knew she had to do something.

looking around, Feng spotted the huge ten-foot walls of the alleyway.

‘Maybe we can climb up and subtly leave while this guy was distracted with the shield...’ she tugged at her uncle’s sleep. “Can we climb up?”

“We can but aerial fighting is not that ideal.”

“But we can try.”

duke Lineti glanced up at the wall behind them. “it might be the only way out. he seemed to be manipulating the alleyways around here. he is multiplying them as well, making it into a maze. even if run around it we won’t be able to find a way out. we are always firmly in this trap. I hope the higher we go, the weaker his illusion gets.”

saying this, the duke immediately lifted her and gestured for the guards to follow along.

feng held up the medallion to the part of the shield covering the wall. it slowly moved to the side a bit of space. taking this small opening the duke and everyone else jumped out and started to climb up the dingy walls.

One of that masked man’s clones found them and they all started to rush toward them.

duke and the others hurried up and stood on the rooftop.

feng tugged at her uncle’s collar. “Run! run now!”

the duke gritted his teeth and gestured for everyone to flee. “I have never fled a fight before,” he said with resignation.

“But sometimes fleeing gives you the maximum chance of survival... that guy is not to be trifled with uncle. don’t risk your life. you have a wonderful wife waiting at home....” all of a sudden Feng glanced ahead.

The six clones of his had turned into twenty or so. They all stood ahead of them laughing loudly.

That scratchy laugh gave her the chills. he tightly clung to her uncle. ‘Fucking hell what is this guy Naruto or something? how can he clone himself so many times!’

“Everyone, on guard!” her uncle shouted. with one hand he kept a firm hand on her and with another hand, he unsheathed his sword.

the fight was about to begin.

feng could foresee what could happen. her uncle will send them off again and once again they would all die.

she did not want that ending.

she hurriedly pulled out the truth mirror. “Can change the future?”

the mirror only gave a small answer. {‘nothing is stable}

“How can defeat a guy who can multiply himself.”

her uncle gave her a weird look.

but Feng did not bother her eyes were peeled on the mirror’s reflective surface. “Time is the essence.” was written on it.

‘What does that mean? time is the essence. we must act on time? how? when?’

frustrated she shook the mirror. “What does that mean? I don’t understand your jargon, mirror!”

{‘time is the essence’} it repeated again.

feng grabbed her uncle tightly. “Uncle, time is essence does it ring a bell.”

“I don’t have the time to think of these riddles, dear Feng,” he said focusing solely on those twenty or so men.

feng gritted her teeth. ‘I knew that game will not give me something useful.’

“Charge!” her uncle shouted and he rushed towards the many enemies.

the masked man laughed eerily and started to have a very spirited fight with him.

feng who was clinging to her uncle was thrown off guard by the speed. Her uncle was super-fast and it made her so fucking nauseous. she clung to him tightly hoping that she wouldn’t puke.

“Are you okay Feng?” Duke Lineti gently patted her back.

“I’m not sure....” she swallowed down the disgusting bile that was rising up her throat.

her uncle paused only for a second and after that he started to battle with ten of those masked men. it is so intense.

After a while, her uncle’s steps slowed down. he seemed to be distracted by something

Feng looked around to see one of the guards was already taken out. Aiden was left unguarded. hat masked man was chasing him. “No!!!! Aiden!!!!!”

right before her eyes, she watched the man stab him right through his heart. the masked man glanced back eerily and giggled.

feng couldn’t breathe. everything seemed like a nightmare. shaking her head, she closed her eyes. “no... no...”

“no!!!! Ethan’s scream came right beside her.”

Feng was still dazed. looking to her right she saw one of the masked men stab the guard carrying Ethan in the heart Ethan hurriedly used his power to summon a thunderbolt, but just like last time, it did not work. the masked man giggled and....

he sliced through Ethan’s throat.

Feng stare to hyperventilate. the Duke’s body went stiff under her. he was panting softly. without even looking back she knew he was sobbing.

The next second a sword stabbed them both piercing through her body and into the duke’s heart.

They both collapsed to the ground.

The masked man giggled oddly with the broken sword in his hand. “Thank you for the sword.... I wouldn’t have been able to create so many copies with this. asura’s blood. Hehehe.... It works just as I desired....”

Feng’s blank eyes peered at him. This time she had given the weapon of mass murder with her own hands....

She closed her eyes with difficulty.

The next second she woke up with a start. She was once again in Haily’s arms. They were walking around the crowded alleyway.

Feng instantly jumped off her and ran to her uncle. She did not know what to do. She did not know how to Save her loved ones from that guy. he was too strong. he was too unpredictable.

‘What must I do... what must I do to save them? Oh god... please. Please help me.’

.....

Sobbing, she looked around. The whole world lit up with tiny golden particles flying around. Unintentionally she had used the technique her master had taught her.

‘Time is or essence... time.... If I can freeze time, we can take him out... but how do I do it......’
