Vol. 10 - Chapter 503 - Advanced Job Trial Run - Lana’s Might and Ester Equipment '«*Greater* Divine Protection»!”

Lana invoked the spell, raising the overall defence. It was the upward version of her previous magic «Divine Protection», identifiable with the term ‘Great,’ and truly, its effect was nothing to scoff at. When it comes to power up, buff spells were the fundamentals. That said, it wasn’t something she had learned anew, instead it was the same old ‘Divine Protection,’ just that it had been enhanced following the effect from passive skill «Blessing for Ever Growing Protection».

Any skills labelled as ‘protection’ would transform into ‘Greater Protection’ when the said skill is equal to below level of passive skill «Blessing for Ever Growing Protection». Here, Lana’s ‘Divine Protection’ was at LV1, and since «Blessing for Ever Growing Protection» had been at LV1 as well, the skill had changed into its upward version.

But on the flip side, the effect would be reverted if ‘protection’ skills ever surpassed passive skill in level. So that was one point to be careful about.

Anyway, such passive skills capable of transforming basic job’s ‘spell’ or ‘skill’ were called ‘Evolutionary Skill’ by the player base. And this type of skill wasn’t exclusive only for «Seraphic Saintess». A bunch of advanced jobs come in pairs with them.

They’re the type of ‘the more, the merrier’ type of skills. Typical, basic skills like ‘Divine Protection’ weren’t that great at LV1, but the passive effect cranked the performance up by twice. Also, rather than squandering SP on raising the levels of ‘Divine Protection’ category skills, a one-for-all type of passive like «Blessing for Ever Growing Protection» would be most favourable.

Speaking of skill level, this passive skill displays a monstrous effect when you have all other ‘protection’ skills at level 10. But that required SP as much as 60, which didn’t come by dime a dozen, so its usually glossed over. This setup was most suitable for other advanced jobs of Saintess. «Sanctified Shield Princess» had a plethora of other magic to focus on.

Sierra took the front, her defence fortified with the enhanced skill «Greater Diviner Protection». Lana was taking the role of attacker this time.

“Then I am shifting their target here. —«Shield Force»!”

«Shield Force» was also a fourth order skill tree’s skill—a strong crowd control skill that put enemies into taunt status. As a blazing aura quietly surrounded the four small shields, «Archer Bull-Orc» turned their attention to Sierra.

“Oiiinkkk!”

Immediately. Sierra was set as target for the skill ‘Twin Non-Elemental Arrows,’ and she reacted by forwarding the small shields in front of her, activating no skill.

Two of the small shields managed to intercept the attack, and though it threw the struck shields out from the formation, they soon returned back in front of Sierra again. The autonomous shield could intercept mild attacks in this way.

Also, while SIerra did get feedback, it was trivial. The shields had proven themselves of the calibre to uphold in events like this.

Noticing Archer Bull-Orc’s attention had shifted from us, Lana then swiftly moved to take her action.

“«Sacred Demon’s Greater Protection»! ...Or I guess that was no one’s call. —Time to show the prestige of «Seraphic Saintess»! «The Four Great Sacred Shining Sabre»!”

Lana had just finished her chant when four huge swords, constructs of light, appeared in the mid-air. Each sword was as big as thrice the height of Lana. Taking the shape of a cross, they radiate a sacred shine, reminiscent of holiness.

Until now, she either had AoE skill or single-target attack, but not the multi-hit one. But her wait was now over, and although there was the element of randomness, she was striding forward.

The tip of light swords turned in the direction of Archer Bull-Orc.

“—Goooo!!

“Really!? Hurray!”

Alright, it seemed Hannah was settled for the time being.

“And so, let’s begin with you then, Ester!”

“Understood, please guide the way!”

I turned around and called out Ester.

The «Azure Cogwheel» she had been equipped with had two disk shaped wheels near the ankle spot. They kinda looked like roller-skates for outdoor purposes, and frankly, she looked no less cool than others. I mean, most of the «Leg Equipment - Two-wheel Chariot» were hella cool.

Speaking of, I had tried my hand on roller skating, though most of the memories were more about me crashing here and there more often than not. But perhaps she had been receiving the blessing of her job, «Chariot Princess», the earlier wobbliness of her leg had unknowingly disappeared. The difference was even more so apparent that she was moving in the unlevelled rode as if it was nothing.

Man, was I so awestruck. No, wait. Recalling back, even Sierra had somehow known how to operate her shield and all of the new job. So I guess it was indeed a correction from her job.

Anyway, the azure cogwheel was actually capable of automatic movement as well, kind of similar to a segway. Except, the former was equipment, and later was an item. Well, otherwise wasn’t it kinda a fantasy breaker if she were to kick the ground like in roller skating while fighting? That would have been lame. It’s because they could move automatically that they were the dream of adventure seekers! All hail the automatic movement!

And with no further ado, Ester, I choose you!

“Ester, can you move while holding a weapon?”

“Yes. Or well, mysteriously enough, I feel no problem. It’s honestly strange, I had found myself struggling with them a while back, but I can somehow tell what’s the best way to move.”

“No? But it’s that mysterious aspect that makes jobs interesting to explore.”

I saw Ester swinging the two handed spear, which was as tall as her when equipped with azure cogwheel, with ease, her balance ever so stable.

I guess, it should be fine to have her do a trial combat test then. If anything happen, I was playing as the tank.

Confirming the plan, I then turned to Karua.

“Karua, enemy search. Focus on single enemies, or at best two.”

“Hn. «So-nya»! —Ah, there’s one over there.”

“Nice, thank you. It’s not far, so let’s move on!”

And so, we started running in the direction Karua had pointed out.
