“I’m starting then. Skill activate—«Quad Aegis of Virtue»!”Sierra started the trial by activating what was the foundation, yet ultimate technique of «Sanctified Shield Princess», said to be unique-class.
—«Quad Aegis of Virtue».
The instant Sierra activated her skill, the four small white shields—her new equipment—she had been equipped with lit up in a pale glow and removed themselves from her, floating in the air.
They were the shield of servitude, moving according to the intention of Sierra. With Sierra in the epicentre, they hovered in the air covering all four direction, showing to stance to block any possible attack.
Seemingly satisfied with the trial, Sierra then moved to next skill.
“——«Art of War - The Four Armament Shield»!”
This skill put the autonomous shield into offensive formation, converting their defense attribute into attack, and increasing the damage of subsequent offensive skill.
“And, «Impact Bash»!”
The four shields once again lit up when Sierra activated her next skill, and they flew forward with a blazing speed, ramming into their target. Each shield counted for their independent ‘Impact Bash’ skill effect.
“!! Eee! Ooinkkk!?”
The «Sword Bull-Orc» HP dropped to zero as the four consecutive attacks landed on it, and vanished into particles of effect.
“So strong……”
Sierra murmured, seemingly astonished by the power of her skill she had activated.
Hehe, I nodded profoundly. Of course it was. So strong, so cool!
We’re in one of the Int-high dungeons—«The Mountain of Fierce Demons Dungeon».
In the scale of difficulty, it was around ‘Rank 8,’ the monsters here were quite strong. Yet, the power of these small shields were so grand that even tank by job Sierra decimated them so easily.
Plus, that strength didn’t come from her defence, but from the attack parameter alone.
This was the might of an advanced job, of one of a kind «Sanctified Shield Princess»!
Ahem, let’s turn back the time, and return back to the guild room.
After completing our job advancement, and having set up our statuses, we decided to go out for a hunt, and that’s how we came to be here.
Hmm? Did it cut the ‘long story short’ too short? I was just saving the trivial boring details.
As I had said, building status was no different than before. Along with 10 SP skills that were awarded as bonus for acquiring advanced jobs, plus the points we had been saving since basic jobs, we unlocked the fourth order skill tree.
The fourth order skill tree was nothing to scoff at. The skills and spells here were the foundation of advanced jobs. I made sure everyone knows this as well. Sᴇaʀch* Thᴇ NøᴠᴇlFire.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of nøvels early and in the highest quality.
Or well, I explained to them the might of newfound abilities so enthusiastically that Lana couldn’t contain her excitement and urged for a trial run in the dungeon, which received others' votes as well.
Then, we had a dilemma where to visit. Someone said ‘since we’re going to try advanced jobs, let’s choose the high ranking dungeon’ and that’s how we came to this ‘Rank 8’ dungeon. Also, other dungeons had seemed to be in the midst of being explored by other A-rank or S-rank guilds. So, this dungeon, with no one to drop by, was the perfect for unbothered practice. The experience points from Int-high dungeons could also fill the level gauge of advanced jobs, so it was a good decision overall.
Nonetheless, I never had expected to dive into our first Int-high dungeon—something that should have been a memorable event—so whimsically. In fact, the upperclassmen we had passed by when heading for dungeon gate - Intermediate-high had frozen on their spot, their eyes peeled back.
Yeah, I guess we were a bit too high on our mood.
“Oh my god, that was so amazing, Sierra! I have never seen a flying shield like that! You looked so cool!”
“Thank you for the kind words, Your Highness Lana. These skills are still new to me, so I had let the skill uplift most of the work, but I am sure they would be able to follow even more tricky patterns once I have enough experience.”
“Honestly, I am so jealous of you, Sierra. They’re already so cool with the flying aspect, then they can also move free on their own, can attack, and can even support in defence, why is it so cool!? —Hey, Zephyr. Doesn't my job, «Seraphic Saintess», have anything cool like that?”
Lana asked with a envious gaze, not that I couldn’t see where she was coming from. Alas, as my answer wasn’t something she had been seeking for.
“Your «Seraphic Saintess» has its own merit.”
“What’s with that half-baked answer!”
Come now, if it could be somehow possible, even I had wanted the ability to control shields and use them to defeat the enemy! It’s just that amazing after all. But, this was the speciality of «Sanctified Shield Princess» however. What a pity.
Kuh, just why!? Who wouldn’t love the idea of manipulating shield luke hero and saving comrades from the jaw of danger! It was every man’s dream, just why do you have to lock that feature, oh dear developers!!
Anyway, adding more explanation for Lana—
“But let’s see…your healing are more potent now, and when used, it even showed a pretty effect. The attacks are more flashy and cool, and give off a sanctity vibe. In general, it’s like small-time fireworks have been changed into more gorgeous ones. The effects were in the league of «Sanctified Shield Princess».”
Well, despite all the magnificent effects, it could still not surpass «Sanctified Shield Princess» though, but I kept that part buried within my heart.
«Seraphic Saintess» was one of the strongest job, and no ‘Top of the Job Ranking’ list had ever been completed without it being mentioned.
One could tell from a glance just how much effort developers must have put in this job. It particularly holds true for the spells unlocked in the later part of the job, their effects were otherworldly.
Basking into the radiance of dazzling visuals, you would never be able to keep your eyes away! It had the approval of the playerbase after all. So, rest assured, Lana!
But, I guess it hadn’t been the thing she was seeking out. If I put a name on it—she was chasing the same thrill, the excitement those shields give.
“Really?! I can also do amazing stuff like that?!”
Lana asked, brimming with excitement, while pointing out at the four shields Sierra was currently trying to get the hang of in manipulating them. Phew, what a beauty that sight was.
Needless to say, though, the answer was clear if she was capable of doing that or not……
But it was so painful to answer that I glossed over the reality with a smile.
“Yipee, I want to try it right away then! Karua, where are the practice targets!?”
I had no idea how she interpreted my quiet smile, but it was visible the smouldering excitement within her had been thrown some more fuel. She showed a wide smile and raised her hand diagonally; the kind of pose some leaders take. Alright, I guess, there was no need to fuss over it if she's happy. Yeah.
But was it my imagination, or did the enemies just receive a new definition in Lana’s word?
“Hn. «So-nya»! Hnn, there are two.”
“I will take them down altogether! It’s my turn this time!”
“Sure, then let’s head there!”
“Let’s go!”
After appreciating Karua for her skill, we darted in the direction she pointed out.
Our gait was too leisure for the first Int-high that this dungeon was for us, even occasionally stopping by for Hannah to collect materials—who had been here with us, equipped with «Guest Bracelet». The excitement of acquiring an advanced job had temporarily pushed everything aside to care about other aspects.
And soon, we were looking at our opponent; it was two «Archer Bull-Orc». Sierra hoisted her shield, and placed the four shields around her as she took the front.
On other hand, Lana had begun her preparation to launch magic.
It was safe to say, the trial run of our new advanced job had just started.
