“Now then, starting today we will begin our after-school boot camp!”
“Yes! Thank you!”
Leticia-sama responded with a cheerful voice to me and Brother Will who was standing beside me. She clenched both of her fists tightly to show her motivation.
Laurier-sama and the aides group also asked, “Boot-camp…?” With a question mark on their faces, and continued to voice their regards.
The current location was a study room in the school library.
There are several small rooms in the library, and if you put in a request to the librarian, you can rent them out for a while for a fee.
This school library was located in the newly built part of the school, different from the detached palace section. The school library was built because the palace library was too small to hold all of the books.
The library was quite large. It seems that it was built with a lot of room to spare so as not to run out of space, and the unused rooms were now being rented out to make use of the space as self-study rooms.
Of course, there were also free study spaces, but I chose to pay for these ones this time because they were quieter and more private.
By the way, I had gotten a reservation as soon as this irregular exam was announced, because I had heard from Brother Will that the rooms would fill up quickly before the exam. Even so, it was a close call as only two more rooms were left to be booked before the exam date.
“It’s a good thing we got a room. In the big cafeteria and classrooms, there is a lot of noise around, and men and women have to be separated in our personal rooms.”
“Yes, I’m really glad! Thank you for the information, Brother Will.”
Laurier-sama and Letitia-sama were also there, so Brother Will was in his formal aide mode.
Honestly, I was getting excited because it was starting to feel like club activities.
It’s nice, isn’t it? After school in the club room. There’s something so youthful about getting together with a group of volunteers to work towards something!
Ruminating, I explained the goals and scheduled for the future.
“First of all, we need to reaffirm our objectives. Our goal at the moment is for all of us to pass the test before winter break. We only have about a month and a half to go, so it’s urgent.”
Everyone nodded gravely.
Originally, it was just a matter of getting together after school to study in order to support Letitia-sama, but with an eye on the future, we switched to the goal of all of us passing the pre-winter break test.
Once the research activities begin, there would naturally be more and more differences in academic ability. In that case, it was decided that Leticia-sama and Laurier-sama would work together from the start to exempt themselves from classes with the intention of doing research.
For the time being, I would continue to explain.
“The scope of the exam covers all five major subjects studied in the first year. If you can’t answer more than 80% of the questions correctly, then you won’t be able to get the exemption from classes in the spring…But I’m not too worried about this.”
“Is that so?”
Laurier-sama and especially Letitia-sama were looking anxious. They were slightly teary-eyed.
However, I, who had been preparing well, answered confidently.
“Assuming that the scope and level of the pre-winter break test is the same as the entrance test, Brother Will and I can answer them perfectly, Laurier-sama can answer around 80% correctly, and the aides group has been studying with me before entering the school, so they are also doing well. If you study the essentials, you will probably be able to make it in time…”
It was a little hard to say, but I cleared my throat and continued.
“Well, Letitia-sama had a complicated situation, so her prep work wasn’t done in time, and the percentage of correct answers wasn’t very high. So the key to all of us passing is Letitia-sama…But I will be teaching Letitia-sama all the time. In the name of Archelaus, I will make sure you pass, no matter what.”
“Oh, Lady Alice!”
Letitia-sama let out a cry and clasped her hands tightly in front of her chest, and her eyes welled up with emotion.
I wasn’t going to leave a little girl alone. Just leave it to this adult woman. I nodded vigorously in return.
Then, for some reason, Johann and Laurier-sama let out a shout and posed to protect their eyes from the dazzling sight. Was it the glare from the window? (***T/N: They’re too dazzled by Alice’s angelic presence…)
“Letitia-sama and I will always work closely with you one-on-one. Laurier-sama has already done it to some extent, so please review and ask me if you have any questions. And then the aides will be divided up to learn from Brother Will.”
I look around at the faces of everyone listening intently and touch on the content.
“As for the scope of study, I’m trying to predict what’s going to be covered based on the trends on the admissions test, so I’m going to limit it to a certain extent. The reason…is because there are things I want to spend the most time on other than those studies.”
“More time than those…?”
Johann made an anxious sound. Matilda and Yulena also looked at each other and with an ‘Oh!’ look since they had already talked to Brother Will, Laurier-sama and Leticia-sama.
Thinking that this was a bit worrying, I slowly speak out.
“It’s the practical use of magic and music.”
“What?” he said.
“Yes, the difference between it and the entrance test.”
It was a practical skill.
The entrance test was only for the purpose of seeing the difference in basic knowledge and academic ability. But this test would be different.
I was exempted from classes from spring to fall. There was no way they wouldn’t do a practical skills test.
However, there was no explanation for this. Not even the word ‘practical skills’ was mentioned. From the reactions of the aides, it was probably the same in the Moonlight and Venus Dorm classes.
I thought back to the time when the test had been announced and what I had learned from Ray-sensei today…

T/N: Nooooo another cliffhanger. But don’t worry–I’ll have the next chapter out tomorrow because I want to know what happened too, hahaha.
On another note, I wanted to give special thanks to Rcbolan, Gogo, and Anonymous who all donated to me in the last few months. It is much appreciated and gives me more encouragement to translate after I finish work! I’m planning to buy an updated japanese-english dictionary for some of the confusing phrases, so I’m looking forward to that. I hope my translations will get even better for you guys in the future ♡!
