Chapter 203: The Assault on the Akarios Island Part 2
The battle raged on, the beach now a chaotic scene of smoke, fire, and relentless combat. Vincent's forces held the line, but the demon horde continued pressing forward, their numbers and tenacity creating a seemingly endless wave of enemies.
Princess Elara and Queen Velara joined the fray without hesitation. Elara raised her hands, calling upon her powers over nature. In response, thick, thorny vines erupted from the ground, twisting and writhing toward the demons. The vines shot forward like spears, their needle-sharp tips easily piercing through even the hardened demonic armor, skewering the demons and binding their movements.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
The vines wrapped around the enemy soldiers, squeezing tight until they could no longer move. Some demons attempted to hack through the vines, but more vines grew in their place, reinforcing the barriers and creating an unbreakable wall of thorns that held the demons in place. Elara guided the vines with precision, ensuring they attacked only the demons, sparing Vincent's forces from harm.
"Impressive work, Elara!" Vincent shouted over the noise, nodding in approval as her vines turned the tide on the left flank.
Meanwhile, Queen Velara wielded her hammer, Stormbreaker, with deadly force. Each swing of the massive weapon sent shockwaves through the air, knocking back clusters of demons as if they were nothing. Her strength seemed boundless, and every strike hit with enough force to plow through multiple foes at once, creating pockets of space in the densely packed horde. Stormbreaker glowed with energy, a faint hum accompanying each swing as it connected with demons, pulverizing them into dust.
Velara moved through the battlefield with precision, advancing step by step as she crushed each demon that dared to approach. Her hammer swung in wide arcs, taking out groups of demons with each blow. The ground cracked beneath her strikes, and the demons around her fell back, unable to stand against her raw strength.
"Vincent," Velara called out, her eyes sharp and focused, "we're pushing them back, but they keep coming. Do you have anything else in reserve?"
Vincent nodded, relaying orders over his comms. "Spectre One, keep firing on the rear. Don't give them room to regroup. Artillery, maintain the pressure. All ground units, hold formation and keep advancing."
The AC-130, still circling above, unleashed another barrage from its 40mm cannons, shredding the rear lines of the demon forces and preventing reinforcements from closing in. The artillery teams along the high ground continued their relentless bombardment, shells detonating among the demon ranks and scattering their formations.
"Vincent," Elara called out, her voice steady despite the strain of battle. "We can hold them off, but the two Demon King Generals won't stop unless they are settled with." Elara's words hung in the air as Vincent turned his gaze toward Valeria and Garruk, their towering forms unmoved by the devastation around them. The two Demon King Generals stood resolute, their eyes fixed on the battlefield with a fierce determination, making it clear they wouldn't retreat until Akarios Island was nothing but ruin.
Vincent took a deep breath, calculating his next move. "Elara, Velara, we're going to need to focus on taking those two down. They're coordinating the attack-take them out, and the demon horde will fall apart."
Elara nodded, her face set in determination. "Understood. I'll keep Valeria occupied. Her dark magic won't respond well to nature's force."
Velara gripped Stormbreaker, her eyes narrowing as she focused on Garruk. "And I'll take the brute. He's eager for a fight-I'll make sure he regrets it."
Vincent gave a curt nod. "Good. I'll keep the rest of the forces supported and maintain air cover. Let's end this."
The battlefield grew tense as Elara and Velara moved forward, their steps purposeful as they closed in on their targets. Vincent relayed instructions to his units, repositioning the tanks to form a defensive line that would provide cover fire if necessary. He ordered the Apache helicopters to focus on demon stragglers to prevent reinforcements from aiding their leaders. The sound of explosions and the steady hum of chopper blades filled the air as Vincent's forces maintained the relentless assault. From above, the AC-130 continued to unleash rounds on demon clusters trying to regroup. But the focus shifted as Elara and Velara approached Valeria and Garruk.
Elara extended her arms, and a massive wave of vines erupted from the ground, surging toward Valeria. The Demon King General met the attack with a sneer, raising her hands to summon a dark barrier. But the vines, sharpened and strengthened by Elara's power, pierced through the shadowy shield, snapping at Valeria with unrelenting force. Dark energy crackled around Valeria as she poured more power into reinforcing her shield, yet the vines continued to claw their way through, breaking down her defenses bit by bit. "Your magic may be powerful, but it won't withstand nature's wrath."
Valeria's eyes flashed with anger, and she retaliated, sending a blast of dark energy toward
Elara. Elara dodged, twisting her vines to deflect the attack, though some of the dark tendrils scorched her barriers. Unfazed, she summoned more vines, each one thicker and more barbed than the last, pushing Valeria back inch by inch.
Meanwhile, Velara charged at Garruk, her grip firm on Stormbreaker as she swung it in a wide arc. Garruk met her attack head-on, blocking the hammer's strike with his armored gauntlets. The force of the impact sent shockwaves through the sand, and even the closest demon soldiers were thrown off balance.
Garruk grinned, baring his fangs as he pushed back against Velara. "Is that all you've got, little queen?"
