Chapter 205: Distribution

After Carmen rested enough, Xu Feng smiled amicably at her and said, "Are you ready to check on our drop loot?"

"Drop loot?" Carmen raised an eyebrow, clearly forgetting about the reward that monsters often dropped when killed.

"Yeah, the Skyrazor Harbinger could be considered an overlord here, so its drop loot should be amazing." Xu Feng calmly explained.

A few seconds later, Carmen, who seemed uninterested earlier, suddenly flashed a cheerful smile.

"What are we waiting for then?" She exclaimed, extending her hand out and holding his arm, dragging him to rush toward the Harbinger's corpse.

Speechless, Xu Feng could only increase his pace to match up with her, avoiding the possibility of tripping over the rocky terrain.

"How's the loot, Jeff?" Carmen released her grip and asked Jeff, who had been safeguarding the loot and the surroundings.

As for the intention of taking the loot for himself, it was impossible.

After all, Jeff was bound by the contract he signed, meaning even if he wanted the loot, it would be impossible for him to get it unless Carmen designated some to him.

Of course, it had to be done willingly and not through coercion or threat.

This was the main reason why mercenaries were popular and in high demand.

Aside from their high success rate of completing a commission, their integrity can also be trusted due to the contract effect.

"There are 5 Common, 3 Superior Common, 6 Uncommon, and 2 Superior Uncommon equipment in total," Jeff reported frankly, almost as if he was disinterested in the loot itself.

"That's amazing!" Carmen, however, was exhilarated to hear the loot drop reward.

"Huh, after all that work and not a single Rare equipment." Xu Feng twitched his brows, clearly displeased by the loot drop.

The Harbinger was slain at the cost of his "sacrifice," so how could he not be displeased by such mediocre rewards.

"Hey, can you not act like that?" Unamused, Carmen turned to him with a fierce expression.

Startled, he turned around and held a dazed expression.

"The loot will be shared but I get to choose who will get what." Xu Feng coolly said.

"Right, of course." Jeff nodded his head and smiled foolishly, clearly not in disagreement with the arrangement.

Just being able to get a share of the loot was good enough.

As Xu Feng waved his hand and told the latter to guard around while he calculated the distribution, Carmen slowly walked toward him.

"Did you have to smack his hand?" Carmen whispered.

"This is to warn him who is still in charge of the team." Xu Feng calmly explained. "Distributing the loot is fine, but when you say it like that, you will create a misconception that he can have a voice in the future arrangement."

"But we're a team."

"Yes, a team with Jeff as a hired mercenary. He's being paid and signed a contract whereas we do not have such a contract."

When Xu Feng saw the ignorant look of Carmen, he sighed softly.

"Don't you know players are hard to trust?" He questioned, reminding her of their first death.

Instantly, Carmen's mood soured, pursed her lips, "Yes, players are despicable, but you're not one of them, right?"

"Oh, trust me, I am beyond despicable." Xu Feng corrected.

"But that also depends on who the person was. Just know that in such a situation, especially when you're in the open field, loot such as this can never be distributed equally. There would always be a big fight."

"Isn't that unethical then?" Carmen was dumbfounded.

As soon as she finished saying that, Xu Feng flicked on her forehead and sneered.

"Ethics are pointless in this world. I'll have you know, that if there's a world boss event happening, even if you are the person or team that made the killing blow or did all the hard work. It's not guaranteed that you can even leave the field alive from the rest of the players."
