"Take the oath first. Then you will go to your home and inform your parents or guardians that you will move to the Cao Mansion in the future for the purpose of training. You must also go to the auction house to resign from your position as the Cao Guards do not run errands for anyone else than the Cao Family."
Cao Haolong was speaking slowly but strongly. The words were powerful, and hit the young boy's heart with an energy that made him feel proud.
He did never consider if the man in front of him was not sincere in adding him to the Cao Guards. To Cao Haolong, it did not matter if one more person joined their guards, as he had to recruit them all the time anyway, but due to the personality he displayed, this young boy would never become a confidant or important figure in his faction.
However, with the oath, he would still be able to control him, and he would not go back on his promise to help him cultivate and provide him with resources.
"I swear that I will be loyal to the Cao Family from this day forward. I will do my utmost to protect and honor the Cao Family as a guard."
The oath was simple and powerful. Cao Haolong almost smirked when he heard how honest the young boy was, as most would add a bit of trickery to their oath in an attempt to have a way to back out.
However, while this boy thought he was very smart, he was still too young, and he was too eager for success. He did not consider the consequences of the oath he made today.
Cao Haolong nodded his head approvingly before he leaned forward.
"Now, tell me about your information."
In fact, most would have to be given a great benefit or reward to make an oath like this, however, the boy had willingly made such a solemn and unretractable oath, and he was still providing the Cao family with information.
He was basically selling himself while still helping Cao Haolong to count the money.
The young boy eagerly told all the information he had learned. He looked at Cao Haolong with eager eyes while speaking happily.
The information was what he had expected previously, but there was no proof to show that what he said was true.
Cao Haolong allowed the boy to finish speaking before he nodded his head, seemingly thinking of his words.
"Well, this is indeed useful information. Go back and inform your guardians about the decision, and then retire from the auction house. Then you will come back here and someone will give you a place to live, and instruct you on what is expected from a Cao Family Guard."
The boy was eager and nodded his head happily. He was eager to rush out of the study, but he dared not look too hurried. Instead he waited for the Cao Family Patriarch to stand up and leave first.
Cao Haolong left at the same time as the young boy, but the two of them headed in different directions.
The young boy was rushing home to do what he had been told, but Cao Haolong went towards the palace belonging to the Seventh Demon Prince.
He was well aware that his visit would be noticed by both the Cao family and the forces behind the Fourth Demon Prince, but he had decided to show his sincerity towards Jiang Yao.
If he directly went to this palace and showed his favor, then it was obvious that he would be stuck in a dangerous position, but to show how serious he was about this matter, he felt it was the most suitable way.
As he arrived at the palace, the guards were stumped for words. As a subordinate of Jiang Yao, they knew well that this young man was the new Patriarch of the Cao Family, and that he was a supporter of the Fourth Demon Prince. This was exactly why they were so shocked.
"Please inform your master that I have something important to discuss with him."
Cao Haolong was honest and polite. He was not humble, but he did not show any arrogance either.
The attitude was a surprise for the subordinates, and they nodded their heads. Jiang Yao had returned just a few moments before, so he was soon informed of the arrival of this unexpected guest.
"Do you want me to come with you?" Luo Xiao looked at the peculiar expression on Jiang Yao's face, but the demon quickly shook his head. He had not forgotten that it seemed as if the two other men had a favorable impression of one another, so he would like to limit their chances to better know each other.
Luo Xiao did not press on when he noticed the rejection of Jiang Yao and just nodded his head. "Then I will return to the room and cultivate."
He stepped closer to Jiang Yao, tiptoed and pressed his lips to the other man's cheek, leaving a fleeting and soft kiss before he left.
The action was natural and soft, making the rumored ruthless Seventh Demon Prince break into a smile that made him feel as if he had won the entire world.
His mood was much better due to the kiss as he made his way to a pavilion in the gardens and asked the guard to lead Cao Haolong there. Even the annoying Cao Patriarch did not seem that unlikeable right now.
