Chapter 670 Face to face
"Klaus, I..." Emma murmured, her voice almost a whisper, moving slightly away from Klaus, but at that moment Klaus grabbed the back of her head, making her turn and face him again.
Their eyes met in the soft moonlight coming through the windows and windshield of the car. A shy smile appeared on Klaus' lips, as if they were irresistibly attracted by a magnetic force, and he moved forward gently, bringing his lips close to hers. Emma, caught up in the moment, closed her eyes instinctively, anticipating the imminent kiss. Their lips were millimeters apart.
Suddenly, however, the blaring sound of a car horn ripped through the air, making them both jump out of their seats.
A large pick-up truck sped past them, almost hitting them, and the young people in the car shouted:
"Viva la vida!"
"Uhuuu!" One girl shouted, with almost half her body sticking out of the car through the window.
That almost magical moment of closeness between Klaus and Emma was abruptly shattered, and they suddenly pulled apart, but instead of being angry or shocked, they looked at each other and started laughing.
"That... that was a near miss." Emma said, laughing.
Klaus nodded, his heart still pounding. "Yes, it looks like the universe is conspiring against us. Hahaha!"
Their laughter created a moment of relief, and the romantic tension that had built up between them was now tempered with a dash of humor.
"Anyway," said Klaus, taking a step back, "perhaps it would be better to end this conversation somewhere less prone to car accidents."
Emma agreed, thanking Klaus for taking the initiative to continue the conversation in a more private place too. At that point, they pulled away, returning to their seats, and Emma drove off in front of Klaus' house.
However, the almost-kiss remained as an unforgettable moment of tension and unresolved attraction between them, something they have yet to resolve.
Then, as Emma's sports car pulled out in front of the Park's house, Ard, Klaus' younger brother, who was looking out of the living room window, shouted to Chun:
"Hey, Mom! There was a nice car parked out front!" Ard exclaimed, his eyes shining with excitement.
Chun, who was busy with her work tasks, looked at her son with a smile. "Is that right, Ard? Did you see who it was?
"I don't know if I saw it right, but I think it was someone with Klaus!" Ard replied excitedly.
Chun arched an eyebrow in surprise. "Klaus? Are you sure?"
Ard nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, Mom! They were talking in front of the house!"
Chun exchanged a meaningful glance with her husband, who was also in the room. Then they smiled, remembering Klaus' teenage years, when this sort of thing was very common.
"If it was him, he should be back soon," said Chun with a smile. "But, Ard, thanks for telling us. Keep an eye out and let us know when he arrives."
Meanwhile, in Emma's car, she was driving with mixed feelings. The almost-kiss with Klaus still lingered in her mind, the feeling, and she wondered what would come next, for since that moment Klaus had been a little quieter.
Would they finally resolve their differences and get closer in the way she had hoped?
Despite this, Emma and Klaus continued their journey in silence for a few minutes. They were both immersed in thoughts about what had happened and what it meant for their future. Finally, Klaus broke the silence.
Klaus, who was sitting in the passenger seat, finally broke the silence. "I really didn't expect things to turn out this way when I left home..."
Emma looked away from the road for a moment to look at him. Her blue eyes met his, full of curiosity. "I'm glad we had that talk."
Klaus looked at her and smiled.
They continued driving, but this time in a more comfortable silence, as they returned to the city. Little by little, the tense atmosphere in the air began to dissipate, replaced by a sense of anticipation.
It was then that Emma had an idea. She knew they needed somewhere to continue the conversation, somewhere they could be more comfortable, away from distractions, a café wasn't exactly a place for that and going to a hotel would be too daring. Then she remembered a place she used to go to with her friends after the exhausting dinners at the agency.
"Klaus, I know a place we can go," she said with a smile. "A place that used to be a refuge for me and my friends. A place where we can relax and continue our conversation."
Klaus looked at her curiously. "Where is it?"
Emma giggled. "It's karaoke, Klaus. One of those places where you can sing your favorite songs and forget about the world outside for a while."
Klaus seemed intrigued by the idea. "Karaoke, huh? I've never been very good at singing, but why not? It could be fun, if it's with you."
She blushed a little and smiled shyly.
They headed towards the karaoke bar and soon found the place. It was a modest-looking building, not that far from the city center, but the colored lights emanating from the windows indicated that it was open and in full swing, as expected.
As they entered, they were greeted by a cheerful and festive atmosphere. The karaoke room was decorated with bright lights, and the sound of laughter and music came from inside the place's various private rooms.
"Good evening, we'd like a small room, please." Klaus asked the attendant.
The teenager looked down at Klaus and then up at Emma, and obviously saw how beautiful they were, but he also thought he recognized them from somewhere, he just didn't know where exactly.
"All right, sir. Room four is clear, come with me, please."
