Chapter 102: Safe House
Dumbledore looked at Coven with a very gentle gaze at this time. He wanted to say a few words of thanks or praise, but he felt that it was inappropriate to say anything.
For a moment, Dumbledore felt that it was difficult for him to continue to evaluate Coven's actions.
"Oh, right." Coven didn't know what Dumbledore was thinking about. He thought of something and said, "And the patent bonus you mentioned, I also don't intend to take it. Just donate it to Hogwarts."
"Why"
When Dumbledore heard this, he almost cried out, and his eyes widened in shock.
"I once asked Professor McGonagall about Hogwart's business." Coven smiled and explained.
"So I feel that instead of accepting the sponsorship of the school directors and being held back by them because of this, it would be better for us to use a steady stream of patent fees to operate House in the future."
Coven obviously had not finished speaking, but even so, Dumbledore was completely stunned there.
After a long time, Dumbledore returned to his senses and took a deep breath. He was a little tired because of the shock. "Hogwarts can't accept your money, and even if he does, the money will be divided by the directors. After all, Hogwarts belongs to them in principle."
Coven thought about it and realized that if he donated the patent money to Hogwarts, it was really those directors who could get the money.
Dumbledore was just a Headmaster, after all. The real people in Hogwarts were actually those directors.
However, Coven still tried to ask, "Then, Mr. Headmaster, is it possible to spend money to buy the school board?"
"It's impossible." Dumbledore shook his head and explained softly, "The identity of the school board is a symbol of status, and all the school directors come from ancient families."
"What if the funds are huge?" Coven continued to ask.
Dumbledore chuckled when he heard that. He was delighted that Coven had such good intentions toward Hogwarts, so Dumbledore patiently explained, "If you publish the thesis and patent, you will indeed get a huge amount of gold."
"And..." Dumbledore added, "The cost of the patent belongs to the long stream. The first fee you can get is probably not as much as you think."
Coven did not flinch after hearing that. Instead, he raised his hand to rub his chin and thought.
Dumbledore did not choose to be Coven's secret keeper, nor did he choose the four deans. Instead, he asked Coven to go to the kitchen to find a house-elf and let the elf be the secret keeper of the house.
In Dumbledore's view, the house-elf was the most suitable candidate to be a secret protector. After all, the house-elf basically had a high magic level.
Moreover, the elf's character was absolutely loyal to its master. Even if he died, he would not reveal any master's secrets.
With the safe house and the 'light door key', the combination of the two would make Coven very safe outside the school.
If he was in danger, Coven only needed to touch the key, and he could instantly return to the safe house so that the enemy could not find him at all.
After listening to Dumbledore's arrangements, Coven could not help but be very happy. He did not expect that before he saw the patent fee, he first got a house that belonged to him alone, and it was such a safe house.
"Mr. Headmaster!" Coven couldn't wait to ask, "When can we go to see the house?"
"Anytime." Dumbledore smiled kindly.
"Then..." Coven suggested hopefully, "Now?"
Perhaps Dumbledore had already expected this, so he did not feel surprised. He smiled and said, "Of course, we can go to my fireplace."
As he spoke, Dumbledore got up from behind his desk and walked to the fireplace in the office. He turned and smiled at Coven.
Coven immediately stepped forward and looked at the contract in his hand. He remembered the address and avoided being teleported to other places because he read the wrong name.
The two of them each grabbed a handful of Floo powder, "When the secret protector is confirmed in the future if you want to take someone to your house, remember to hold the other person's hand. Otherwise, you can only use the fireplace to teleport back."
"Yes! I will remember it!" Coven stared at the fireplace expectantly and nodded.
Seeing this, Dumbledore smiled and walked into the fireplace. He said softly, "Then I'll go first."
When he finished, Dumbledore waved his hand and sprinkled the 'floo powder'. He recited the name of the land and disappeared in a flash of green light.
When the fire disappeared, Coven immediately stepped into the fireplace in a hurry.
