While a certain someone was guzzling down a tonne of vinegar eyeing the groom with murderous eyes, the wedding customary proceedings were finally completed with half-hearted meaningless vows. It was at this moment that the wedding banquet officially began with the guests indulging in the finest food and wine in the entire empire.
Wen Qinxi didn't move around too much observing his surroundings while conversing with Zhao Lazhie and Zhao Tiazhi who had somehow developed a habit of following him around. He had a gut feeling that something big was going to go down and so he remained vigilant sitted at the high table whilst waiting for dinner to be served.
"Xie-dage, why didn't the Qie Family come to the wedding? Wasn't Madam Qie in favour of Huan-jie before?" asked Prince Lazhie who was already on his third glass of wine making him half-blind to the point of disregarding Emperor Zhao's disapproving look. He didn't want neither of his sons and daughter to interact with Zhao Xieshu which they had obeyed all along but now his sons were publicly disobeying him. What made it worse was that he couldn't reprimand them in public and could only use a menacing stare which proved ineffective.
"Lan-ge, how can they appear after sister humiliated the Marshal in front of the entire universe. Though those images were taken down, the memory of it is still fresh in my mind. Good riddens.....to freedom," said Zhao Tiazhi the last born of the Zhao family who barely spoke but today got the courage after a few sips of wine.
The two brothers clinked their glasses together drinking to their hearts content. "You two can't keep drinking on an empty stomach," said Wen Qinxi feeling envious. These two where drinking so leisurely in front of him flaunting alcohol in his face. This was just a game and he could drink with no real consequences but the Marshal would chew his head off as this baby was as real to him as day.
"Ai...you two go drink elsewhere," he finally said his line of sight falling on Zhao Huangzhi whose face was covered in a veil obediently sitting on a high chair accepting people's congratulations.
"Xie-dage, why aren't you drinking with us? I have been itching to know who between us can last the longest," said Zhao Lazhie his face pinkish red from all the drinking, "Don't tell me you decided to sober up at a time like this when we should be celebrating Huan-jie's long awaited departure."
"That's none of your concern," he said as the servant placed some dishes in front of them, "Wait, isn't Zhao Huangzhi a little too obedient. I thought she would put up a fight or something?"
"You did think so but let me tell you a secret," said Zhao Lazhie leaning in closer, "father drugged her so she can only behave like a timid blushing bride for the entire evening....haha," he chuckled but couldn't laugh for long when he felt an icy chill traveling up his spine like someone was deliberately sending sharp ice shards in his direction.
He was absolutely right, a few meters away, the Marshal was watching him like hawk his eyes as dark as a black hole in space ready to devour him at any moment. Wen Qinxi didn't have time to react to Zhao Lazhie's statement because he had bigger things to worry about. "What the fuck is this?" he asked glaring at the bowl of millet congee placed in front of him while Zhao Lazhie and Zhao Tiazhi had all sorts of delicious meat in front of them.
"Haha, must be the handiwork of Zhao Huangzhi. Don't eye my food with those pitiful eyes," said Zhao Lazhie placing a tantalizing piece of spicy braised beef in his bowl.
No, this had to be the work of a much more overbearing entity that was partially infected with an incurable disease known as 'control freak'. 'Fuck! Qie Ranzhe is screwing with me,' he thought his eyes coincidentally turning towards the Marshal's direction.
Wen Qinxi gave him a 'what the fuck' expression to which he responded with a tender smile as though saying it's good for the baby. "Shit!" swore Wen Qinxi shoving his pathetic bowl to the side, "Xiao di di," he said to Prince Lazhie in an overly affectionate way like an older brother coaxing his younger brother to cheat him out of his pocket money. Both Zhao Lazhie and Zhao Tiazhi paused their actions staring at this alien of a creature that actually called out little brother in an affectionate way which was surprisingly pleasant to the ear. Being stared at this Wen Qinxi changed strategy,
"Ah, Fuck it. Give me your bowl, now," resorting to robbing him instead. He hurriedly took away the untouched bowl of rice and dragged the bowls of meat in front of him deliberately bullying his half brothers.
"Xie-dage, you can call me that any day I will even give you my mecha for free," said Zhao Lazhie feeling so warm inside being addressed this way. With all the past conflicts completely forgotten.
Wen Qinxi tsked while shaking his head thinking, 'So fuckin naive.'
Under the scornful gaze of the Marshal, Wen Qinxi ate everything on the table apart from the bowl of millet congee that remained untouched. And when he was done eating he even dared throw a cold smile at the Marshal rubbing his full belly. Qie Ranzhe initially wanted to stop him but he couldn't as his omega was sitted with the royal family. As of now he couldn't casually approach and could only silently endure that is until Crown Prince Yao made his move walking towards Zhao Xieshu with a flirtatious smile that could only have one meaning.
Wen Qinxi on the other hand, had just gotten rid of the drunk half brothers after much convincing when this adulterous slag alpha suddenly appeared in front of him disregarding his surrounding. Though carefully observing his son, Emperor Ling didn't try to stop him as he hadn't done anything excessive.....yet.
With his hands behind his back and an enchanting yet domineering smile he said, "You must be XieXie the infamous party freak. It's truly an honor to finally meet you," stretching out a hand towards him but Wen Qinxi was not fooled. This could only be the beginning of that showdown his been looking forward to.
