“I hear that a lot.”
“How are you doing?”
“Well, I see why the predecessor ran away, I guess.”
Cesare flinched at my words. It looked like he had been stabbed.
“It’s a lot of work. Still, you shouldn’t do it lightly. I’m drafting a report for the Emperor.”
Actually, it was a lot of work.
My job was to organize the harvest for all the grains, fruits and vegetables I had on Raymond’s estate this fall.
There were more than five kinds of grain alone, such as wheat, beans, and millet, but when the fruits and vegetables were combined, it felt like my head would explode. I was wondering if it would be over in a week.
“What if I can’t finish the work in a week?”
“The other one will take over.”
You’re just temporary anyway.. Cesare seemed to say that to me. If that’s the case, don’t make me eat lunch. I pouted my mouth a little.
With that or not, Cesare elegantly cut a lemon fritter and shoved it into his mouth. And Cesare’s expression was wrinkled in an elegant way. The lemon was more sour than he thought. If you don’t like lemons like that, you shouldn’t eat them, but Cesare put a lemon fritter in his mouth.
If you hate it so much, why don’t you stop eating it? If you leave food behind, you get punished.
like ram…
I found something interesting while observing Cesare with a fork in my mouth. Cesare was grimacing most of the time when he had the lemon fritter in his mouth, but on rare occasions he had a happy expression on his face. Curious as to the reason, I looked at Cesare and found out why.
‘This person can’t eat sour things, but he likes sweet things!’
Most of the lemons are sour, so even though I was wearing an expressionless face, he was making a happy expression when he ate the fried batter sprinkled with sugar. Knowing the answer, I could barely put up with a sad thought that I wanted to giggle. Still, it was inevitable that his expression became strange, so Cesare, who ate the lemon fritter, seemed strange to me.
I looked up.
“Go back when you’ve finished eating.”
“Yes.”
I got up from my seat with a cleanly emptied plate.
…
“Get off work.”
As soon as six o’clock came, he spoke like a knife. I realized later that this was our first conversation after lunch. It was a disaster. He concentrated on his work, even if I tried to seduce him with all my might.
“I’ll be gone in a little while. I have a lot of work.”
“No. Get off work now.”
