Chapter 30

“That person will be justly punished for what she has done.”

Peter’s complexion darkened at the word “punishment”. Peter frowned, then carefully opened his mouth.

“I, too, deceived the lord, shouldn’t I be punished too?”

“Yeah, what you’ve done so far is not commendable.”

Cesare placed a hand on Peter’s head. Peter shrugged and looked at Cesare with wide eyes.

“But I know it was inevitable. So I’m not punishing you. But can you promise that you will live without deceiving others in the future?”

“Yes I will. I promise. In the future, I will never deceive others,”

At Peter’s words, Cesare smiled softly and stroked the child’s head. He put on his clothes and stared blankly at Cesare’s smile. He was someone who could make a smile like this.

Peter took the money and left the room. Cesare sighed softly and brushed his hair.

“”I should have taken more care of them.”

“Yes?”

“I didn’t know at all. I never thought that something like that was happening.”

“However, as soon as you found out, you solved it quickly. The Lord is a good person.”

Cesare smiled bitterly at my words. Alon saw the child go out and came into this room.

“Can I bring in the next petitioner?”

“I made them wait for a long time. Is there still a lot of people waiting?”

“No, this is the last one.”

“What’s going on?”

“He is here to report a person’s disappearance.”

“Let him in three minutes.”

“All right.”

As Alon closed the door, Cesare came up to me and picked up the poor screen. The screen board, made of thick paper, was torn to shreds by Isabelle’s hand.

“Though I couldn’t even fix it, but let the work be overwritten.”

“Yes I will.”

“Have you ever sinned and ran away? Why are you covering your face?”

“What do you mean sin. I am more confident than anyone else that I have lived a life of clarity and transparency.”

He looked at me and sneered at me as if he couldn’t believe a single word I said.

“You just look like a criminal to me.”

I was upset that Cesare couldn’t refute the words. Wearing Cesare’s black cloak, I must have been a typical criminal.

“I’ll ask you later, so keep using it for now.”

“.Yes, thank you.”

When the time came, the last complainant came in. I’m wearing the black cloak as I work.
