Chapter 27: Physical discomfort
When he woke up in the morning, Bian Yi could already hear Kou Li talking on the phone in the local language, which Bian Yi could only vaguely understand. Kou Li told the person on the other end that he wasn’t feeling well today, and would rest for another day before going to the snow mountain tomorrow. Bian Yi couldn’t hear the other person’s response. He only stared at the bruise on his wrist that Kou Li had pinched yesterday, rolling his eyes fiercely. He now truly believed how reserved Kou Li had been with him before. When this man went crazy, he seemed to want to eat him whole.
But thinking of himself, Bian Yi closed his eyes, feeling a warm feeling spreading across his face, somewhat annoyed. He didn’t seem to be much different from Kou Li. Now that he was sober, Bian Yi could hardly believe that he was the person from yesterday.
Kou Li hung up the phone, and Bian Yi felt him get up. The soft bed shook slightly and then returned to calmness. Then Kou Li’s footsteps echoed in the room, slowly getting farther away. But soon, the footsteps returned.
Bian Yi opened his eyes and saw Kou Li’s clothes corner in the corner of his eye. Kou Li walked to the side of the bed where Bian Yi was sleeping, squatted down, and silently placed the medicine box in his hand on the floor. Then he took out a bottle of medicine, dipped a cotton swab in the liquid, and pulled Bian Yi’s hand with the bruise out from under the pillow.
The icy medicine was applied to his skin, but after three seconds, it started to feel warm. Bian Yi watched him quietly without pulling his hand away. He didn’t need to be coy or dramatic in front of him. Besides, Kou Li had already applied medicine on him once last night.
It got dark very early here, and it was not even six o’clock when it turned dark yesterday. Both of them were very tired, and they didn’t even have dinner. In the middle of the night, when Bian Yi was half asleep, he felt Kou Li messing with him again. He wanted to give him a kick, but then the cold sensation of the ointment made him realize what Kou Li was doing. At that time, Bian Yi’s body stiffened for a moment before letting Kou Li do whatever he wanted.
There was nothing to be ashamed of. Was there any part of his body that Kou Li hadn’t touched?
It’s not like they were still in the early stages of love where a touch feels like an electric shock and the heart stays warm for a while. After getting married for a year or two, when Kou Li held his hand, it felt no different than holding his own right hand.
But perhaps it was because they were separated for too long, now when Kou Li touches him, the sensation is just as clear as it was in the early stages of love.
Kou Li finished applying medicine to one hand and then reached out for Bian Yi’s other hand. As Kou Li’s fingers touched Bian Yi’s arm, it felt different from yesterday on the plane. Now Kou Li’s fingertips and palms were warm, probably because of the heated floor in the room.
Bian Yi sat up and looked down as Kou Li applied medicine to his hand. He wanted to say something but remained silent for a while before asking, “Was that the guide from earlier?”
Upon hearing Bian Yi’s voice, Kou Li looked up at him and replied, “Yes, I told them we won’t go today.”
Kou Li had bite marks on his face, close to his left ear, from when Bian Yi had bitten him the day before. Because he had bitten too hard, the marks were now red, and small injuries like these are the most painful when they turn red. A touch would send a sharp pain to the heart.
Bian Yi stared at the mark and momentarily forgot what to say.
Then, Kou Li released Bian Yi’s left hand and said, “Stretch out your leg.”
As Bian Yi regained his senses, he had already lifted the blanket and put one foot on the leg where Kou Li had crouched down. Through the thin fabric of his clothes, he could feel Kou Li’s muscles tense up when he bent down.
Bian Yi gritted his teeth and suppressed the desire to curl his toes.
Kou Li pulled up the blanket around Bian Yi’s waist, exposing his skin to the air. Unable to resist, Bian Yi curled his toes again.
As Kou Li applied another type of medicine to the inside of his thigh, Bian Yi trembled uncontrollably. Then, he heard Kou Li’s laughter.
He was laughing at him.
Bian Yi half-squinted his eyes and then scoffed.
He waited for Kou Li to finish applying the medicine and then, as Kou Li stood up, Bian Yi grabbed his arm and pulled him to sit down next to him. He took the medicine from Kou Li’s hand and said, “It’s my turn. Where’s your injury? Let me help you.”
Bian Yi straddled Kou Li’s lap, holding the medicine close to him. His lips curved into a smile as he looked into Kou Li’s face. As he dabbed the cotton swab with medicine on Kou Li’s face, Bian Yi could feel Kou Li’s body tense up.
“Heh,” Bian Yi laughed lightly in response to Kou Li’s reaction.
After treating their injuries back and forth, half an hour had already passed. When Kou Li took the first aid kit and said he was going to cook, Bian Yi only realized afterward that everything they had just gone through was just the aftermath of a couple’s argument.
Bian Yi’s brow furrowed heavily and he cursed.
Kou Li went to the kitchen, where the ingredients he had ordered from the hotel had already been delivered. He couldn’t suppress the smile on his face, a genuine one that was different from the gentle smile he usually faked.
It had been a long, long time since he had been this happy, so long that he thought he would never be able to feel this kind of joy again.
Kou Li put down the ingredients and looked at the kitchen that came with the suite, letting out a silent sigh.
It had been a long time since he had cooked, and he didn’t know if he would be able to do it successfully.
Kou Li opened the bag of ingredients and immediately saw the Chinese yam inside.
The smile on Kou Li’s face disappeared instantly. He pulled the bag open as wide as he could and threw the yam into the trash can.
It didn’t matter, there were other things.
One by one, things kept falling into the trash can, making a loud noise.
Kou Li saw the empty bag he had just thrown away and felt a little anxious.
What else did A-Yi like that Guan Xi had never tried?
He forgot, he had forgotten, how could he forget?!
“Bang–“
There were continuous sounds coming from the kitchen. With a room separating them, it was not very clear, but the last sound was very much like something being knocked over.
“Damn it!” Bian Yi hurriedly grabbed something to put on and rushed toward the kitchen.
Bian Yi opened the kitchen door and saw a mess all over the floor. Ingredients, chopping boards, and kitchenware were all scattered on the ground.
Kou Li was pressing the function key on the kitchen counter. Bian Yi took a glance and saw it was the simple self-cooking mode, which did not require kitchenware, temperature, or pose any danger.
Kou Li did not have any dangerous knives in his hand either.
Bian Yi breathed a sigh of relief, stepped over the scattered items, and walked over to pull down Kou Li’s other hand, which he was using to knock his own head.
“Weren’t you supposed to be cooking? What are you doing?” Bian Yi’s words trembled lightly, even he did not realize it.
Kou Li heard the familiar voice and slowly looked up at Bian Yi. After a while, he recognized him and looked at him with some distress. “Ah-Yi, what do you want to eat?”
Kou Li was used to restraint in front of Bian Yi, and many emotions were not expressed strongly, just like the distress he was showing now, which seemed only a little bit. It seemed like the problem could be solved as long as Bian Yi answered.
However seeing Kou Li’s true emotions yesterday, Bian Yi knew that his distress was not just a little bit.
Bian Yi caught a glimpse of the yams in the trash can and felt like something had stabbed his heart.
On the night he was kidnapped, Kou Li made him pork ribs with yams at home, but in the end, the dish was eaten by Guan Xi.
Bian Yi understood why Kou Li suddenly fell ill again.
Bian Yi took a deep breath, forced a smile at Kou Li, and suppressed the bitterness in his throat. He said casually, “It’s okay, just cook some porridge. I don’t want to eat vegetables.”
Kou Li breathed a sigh of relief and smiled tenderly at Bian Yi. “Wait for me, it’ll be ready in a bit.”
Bian Yi watched him start cleaning up the kitchen in an orderly manner, biting his finger joints to prevent his throat from being blocked.
Bian Yi’s finger joints had a few marks from where he bit them, which he quickly let go of.
He took another deep breath and stood at the kitchen door, taking out his phone and finding the simple phone number.
Jian Yi was drinking tea with his old classmates. After receiving Bian Yi’s call, he smiled apologetically at his friend, stood up, and went to answer the phone outside.
At this time, a person had just arrived at the clinic, a child wearing a hoodie and black-framed glasses, and a woman in a red dress and high heels.
Jian Yi politely nodded to them and walked a few steps away before answering Bian Yi’s call.
Jian Yi had a warm smile on his face, but his words were vague. “It’s you who called me. Is Kou Li in trouble?”
Bian Yi asked him directly, “How does he take his medicine?”
Jian Yi lazily replied as if he didn’t understand Bian Yi’s urgency, “You should ask your husband. He knows it himself.”
Bian Yi became a little angry, “I’m not in the mood to joke with you. How exactly should he take it? How much should he take every day? What does the medicine look like?”
Jian Yi calmed down a bit, but still did not answer the question, “Mr. Bian, a heart disease needs heart medicine. Medicine is only an aid. Do you know that? The medicine that Kou Li needs is you.”
There was silence on the phone for a long time. Jian Yi didn’t hear a reply, but he wasn’t in a hurry. He then told Bian Yi one by one about the medicine Kou Li needed and how to take it.
Finally, at the end of the call, he provided Bian Yi with a powerful supplementary medicine, “If you want him to recover quickly, you can also mention your Xiao Shu at home.”
“Okay, I have something else to do. Have a pleasant trip.”
Listening to Jian Yi’s words, Bian Yi couldn’t help but say, “Talking to you, Dr. Jian, is really unpleasant.”
On the other end, Jian Yi smiled and didn’t care at all.
Bian Yi hung up the phone, and Kou Li had already cleaned up the kitchen.
A pot of white porridge was simmering on the stove, and the water had just boiled.
At this moment, Kou Li caught sight of Bian Yi standing at the door and said helplessly to him, “Are you already hungry? Why don’t you have something else to eat first?”
Bian Yi looked at Kou Li seriously, and he seemed to be fine.
Bian Yi looked at him and shook his head, “It’s okay, I’ll wait for you.”
Jian Yi finished the call with Bian Yi and came back from the other room.
This was a dental clinic, opened by one of his university classmates.
Pushing the door open, the dentist was treating a youth who had just arrived.
The boy looked eighteen or nineteen years old, and he had taken off his hoodie and hat. His light gray hair was incredibly soft. The thick, clumsy black-framed glasses had also been removed, and the boy’s features became three-dimensional in an instant.
He was a very well-behaved child, and upon closer inspection, he resembled Kou Li’s wife by two points.
No wonder.
Jian Yi took his eyes off him and looked at his classmate, “Looks like you’re still busy?”
The dentist shrugged and said, “There’s nothing I can do.”
Jian Yi sighed slightly disappointedly and said, “Well, how about we eat together next time?”
The dentist replied, “That’s settled then! You have to remember what you said today and praise me to your junior sister when you go back.”
Jian Yi waved her hand and replied, “Okay, okay. I’ll leave now.”
As Jian Yi walked to the door, she heard her classmates inside shouting at the patient who had just arrived.
“Hey, hey… your saliva is flowing out again. Come rinse your mouth.”
Jiang Shi’s face turned red inside. Why was he embarrassed? The beauty absolutely did not see the saliva flowing from his mouth. And it was a natural reaction caused by the dentist looking at his teeth for too long and his mouth staying open for too long!
However, it had to be said that the person just now was quite good-looking.
The system waited until Jian Yi had completely left before daring to speak.
“That person just now was a pervert!”
It had to warn this mentally ill new host not to get close to that pervert just because he was good-looking. Who knows, it was almost scared to death when it saw Jian Yi just now.
That pervert was the most perverted human it had ever seen.
He even invited it into his mind. What a madman!
A pervert?
Jiang Shi immediately became unhappy.
How could someone who looks so good be a pervert?
This garbage pirated book is full of bugs and now it is casually slandering people.
Humph, it’s really a bad thing!
Damn it.
The system spat out. It finally spoke the truth, but this idiot doesn’t believe it!
Once again, the system wanted to die together with this new host.
