Seven Sins System Chapter 371. Pure Slander
The van bumped along the road, and I could feel Puriel's breath tickling my ear. Her heartbeat was practically pounding against my chest. If we were in any other situation, this might've looked like we were a couple, all tangled up after a heated night. But nope, that's not what was going on here. The air between us was thick with tension, the kind that screamed awkward from miles away.
She had her eyes squeezed shut like she was pretending to be asleep, but I could feel the waves of hatred coming off her. Maybe it was the close quarters, or maybe it was just the fact that we were stuck in this weird position together. Either way, things were far from cozy.
'Don't blame me for this! You're the one who's stuck with me,' I grumbled in my head, a silent jab at her. Even though we were basically squashed together in the back of a van, nothing about our relationship had changed. We were still rivals. That fact wasn't going anywhere, no matter how awkward the situation got.
But enough about that. I pushed the uncomfortable tension aside and focused on the other people in the van. They were the ones who really mattered right now.
'Greed.'
A little tentacle extended from my finger and turned into a tiny mosquito, buzzing off to do a quick recon of the situation. Five people in the van. One grumpy driver up front and four goons in the back, none of them wearing masks anymore, which was good because it let me see their faces. None of them looked familiar, just a random group of thugs. I couldn't even be bothered to care about them—except the one with bruises all over his face. That one had gotten the most out of Puriel's resistance. Looks like he was still nursing his wounds.
"Tie them up! Tie them up!" One of the goons barked orders as they grabbed some ropes. They were clearly no strangers to this kind of work, moving like pros as they tied Puriel and me up. To top it off, they slapped a big chunk of duct tape over my mouth like I was some sort of hostage prop. Once they had us hogtied, they tossed us around like we were nothing, unceremoniously tossing us onto the van floor.
"Hey! Be careful! We're at a red light! You wanna get caught?!" The driver barked at them through the rearview mirror, throwing a mini tantrum.
"Sorry," one of the kidnappers muttered, looking genuinely sorry.
"Shut up! Just focus!" Another one snapped, killing any further complaints.
Their conversation was an odd mix of sinister and casual, like they'd done this sort of thing before.
"Good thing the kidnapping went smoothly," one of them said with satisfaction.
I had made sure my soldiers followed suit. The last thing I needed was my army getting caught off guard by women seeking to exploit their desires. It wasn't about morality; it was about efficiency.
Screw morality!
So yeah, hearing these kidnappers talk about the things they were going to do with us, it felt like complete nonsense. I'd had bigger things to worry about, like winning the war and conquering realms. None of this crap was even close to being on my list of priorities.
