Saying that, Break rushes to pick up the fallen Dullahan Blade while I went to pick up the items that dropped from the fallen skeleton.
「Ribcage’s fragments, huh…… Oh, it seems to be a magical ingredient of some sort, so I might as well hang onto it. Need to read the flavor text later as well.」
And if it turns out that I cannot utilize it for anything, I might as well try to sell it at one of the shops in town. For now, off to inventory you go.
I then looked up the valley to see the mysterious misty dome dissipating, and saw that the toxic vapors were also growing thinner. But then, I also noticed something else as well.
「…… No, no, no! There is just no way. No way, sir!」
However, it was just like with that box that people opened even though they were explicitly being told not to do that. It is a story about Pandora’s Box, and honestly, I think that the gods knew from the start that she was going to open the damned box. Or it was like having a premonition during playing a card game that the most important piece of your combo is right at the very bottom of your deck. In other words, I think that Pandora was nothing but an antique…… Oopsie, my thoughts started to wander somewhere funny yet again.
「…… Somehow, I think that Sanraku-san is thinking about something weird yet again.」
「No, no, me? Thinking about something weird? As if!」
For the time being, we managed to add yet another landmark on our map towards our goal. I somehow managed to convince Break to stop doing whatever it was she was doing for the moment and we left this place, while I placed the Dullahan Sword back inside of my inventory, and the two rabbits camouflage themselves as a fur coat that I wore over my half-naked body. It was making me look rather peculiar, but oh what the hell.
I could only thank the Gods that Break and Emul could transform into something as reasonable as a coat or a scarf. Otherwise it would be really hard for me to remain inconspicuous.
「Now then……」
Upon arriving in the town of “Eidolado” we opted for returning to Rabbitz for the time being, so that we could disband our party temporarily. Fortunately enough, Break seemed to have repaired the Dullahan Blade and satisfied with the results of her work she went back to her forge. Emul was a little bit harder to ditch properly, but it was nothing that a good carrot bribe couldn’t fix. Honestly, his naivety was a little concerning to me at times.
But what I was about to attempt had to be done alone, without Emul’s help. Looking inside of the Valley of Lost Souls, I could see the misty dome spreading over the exit out of the area once more, housing the boss inside of it.
I’m sure that someone was fighting that black skeleton right about now. But, well, without a Priest in your party your chances of winning are less than twenty percent, so good luck with that, I guess.

「Well then…… Let’s start climbing, shall we?」
My target was not inside the valley per se. The cliffs that rose right before my eyes, climbing up and up…… There was supposed to be a secret area up this rocky wall, which I should be able to reach if I managed to climb it. That, and there was also the guardian of the passage, which just happened to be a level hundred crystal scorpion we saw on our first visit here.
No matter how you look at it, there was simply no way for me to be able to beat a level hundred monster in combat on my own at my current level. So then, why was I going there in the first place? Because there may be other areas or passages there, ones that are yet to be discovered. Besides, since it was just the game, why not? Even if I was unable to defeat the monster itself, there was nothing that would prevent me from going on a little reconnaissance mission. And that it was basically a suicide mission? Small detail, I daresay.
What about my items? Haha, anticipating my imminent failure, I chose the bare minimum of equipment, so that I wouldn’t lose anything of value upon death.
But even without most of my equipment climbing this stone wall was no small or easy feat. At first it was going smoothly, but the higher I got the more flat and whole the surface was becoming, giving me little to no footholds that I could cling to.
「Ooohhh…… Who would have thought that climbing a wall like that would prove itself to be so challenging?」
The spectacle that awaited me at the end of my climb was a field littered with crystals of various shapes and sizes. The whole cliff was filled with them and the further you look the more crystals you could see. The view from here was simply breathtaking.
According to my information, the crystal scorpions usually sit dormant, mimicking the crystal chunks littered all over the place, and only become active once you’ve stepped into its aggro range.
Still, my Luck stat was now a three digit number. So I should be lucky enough to be able to go the rest of the way without any major incident or difficulty……
CRUMBLE! CRUMBLE! CRUMBLE! (Some of the crystals started to move and crumble away, forming the shape of a wild beast.)
……………… Fuh.
「Right, calm down, me. I’m only sightseeing, yes, yes, no problemo…… Oh, who the fuck am I kidding, at least let me map this entire area BEFORE YOU FUCKING KILL ME………!!!!!!!!!」
Shouting that, I plunged right in front of me, going for the massive rocks and crystals that looked relatively normal to me. Thinking that I’ve managed to escape I suddenly heard the sound of something heavy approaching fast from behind. From the sound of it, there were three pursuers. Also, it seems that there was something right in front of me as well.
It was just like an Aurora Borealis. The rays of the sun were reflected in many crystals littering this place, creating a very unique tsunami of colors…… Yup, if that thing wasn’t a crystal scorpion, then I don’t know what is.
「Holy sh*t, I knew you’d be big, but to be this big!? What the fuck is this!? Talk about overdoing it!」
They were all level hundred. My level was around seventy. No matter how you look at it, they would make me into a bloody pulp just by running over me without any effort at all.
Don’t you dare think that I am going to give up simply because of that!
