"This increase is more than I expected."
Corey mumbled after coming to terms with his significant increase in strength.
In fact, when he thought about it. What did he expect since the technique was given to him by one of the two strongest beings in the entire multiverse?
Besides the technique, Corey also felt that if the Paragon Ancestor wanted, he could have increased his strength to an unfathomable level. Though he was not sure if there would be consequences for that, even if there were no consequences, Corey would still not have chosen to increase his strength in that sort of manner.
The experiences gained from starting from a low level were invaluable. Besides… where was the fun in reaching the top in one step.
Ring Ring
[The Fraud is calling you]
[The Fraud is calling you]
[The Fraud is calling you]
"Huh? Why is that bastard calling me?"
Corey had a frown on his face as he looked at his Underworld Watch. Various thoughts appeared in his mind for a few seconds then he closed his status window. He answered the call by tapping the watch's screen, and with an emotionless voice, he spoke:
"What do you want?"
"My one and only good friend Smile Reaper. How have you been? It's been four days since I last heard from you."
Divine's unmistakable voice flowed into Corey's ears from his watch. His voice contained a tinge of cheerfulness and contented delight, but despite the happiness in Divine's tone, Corey had an emotionless gaze, and without replying to Divine's question, he stood.
He looked around for a few seconds, and seeing the thick fog around him, his brows furrowed slightly. He waved his right hand, and a second later, the fog began dispersing.
As the fog dispersed at a slightly fast speed, Corey released a sigh, and he willed for his clothes made out of nanobots to cover up his upper body.
A white long-sleeved round-necked t-shirt appeared on Corey's upper body, and his black trousers became white, and his black shoes also changed from black to white.
"This is good."
Corey muttered, and just as he did,
"Ah, yes. A change in your clothing is nice. But-"
Woosh!
"The fuck man?! Why would you throw your axe at me?"
A familiar voice containing immense shock and surprise reverberated in the room, and Corey had cold eyes as his gaze was fixated on a particular spot in the room.
Corey squinted his eyes, and a tinge of confusion emerged in his eyes. He waved his hand, dispersing the remaining mist, and the confusion in his eyes deepened as a baffling scene occurred before him.
One of his battle axes which he had thrown, hovered above the ground, and no matter how much he looked, he could not find the cause behind the abnormality.
"Show yourself."
Corey spoke out loud with a cold tone, and a second later, a figure materialized from thin air.
The figure had a handsome face, and his hair was red, with the tip having a touch of blue. His red and blue eyes had a frustrated light in them, though deep in his eyes was a tinge of confusion, and in his right hand was a black battle axe.
'The power behind that throw was something a tier 1 human should not be able to attain.'
The figure flung the axe upwards, and without looking at the axe, he caught it. His eyes moved to the axe, and his eyes squinted.
'This axe… is it a growth weapon?'
The figure's eyes widened with immense surprise, and just as the figure was about to continue his inspection of Corey's axe, a cold voice reached his ears.
"What are you doing here Divine?"
The figure, Divine, moved his gaze from the axe to Corey, who had a cold and emotionless gaze as he held a similar black battle axe in his right hand.
"Oh. Uhm… I was worried about you since you've been in this room for a long time, and I didn't hear from you."
Despite Divine's words, Corey's gaze and expression never changed. His hand around his battle axe tightened, and Divine's lips twitched seeing that.
He released a soft sigh and without warning, flung Corey's axe back at him casually.
Corey's eyes widened seeing his axe spinning back at him at a fast speed. He stretched out the axe, and a second later, Corey caught the axe, but the force behind the throw was so strong that despite Corey's current increase in strength, his left hand, which was used to catch the axe, flew back, almost detaching itself from Corey's shoulder.
A groan escaped Corey's lips as he used every ounce of strength to stop the force behind the axe from ripping apart his arm, but despite him using everything he got, he was forced to take a step back not to lose his balance.
After taking that step, Corey gritted his teeth, and he finally stopped the axe, granting his shoulder a much-required relief.
"Fuuu"
Corey lowered as he inhaled and exhaled a few times, and as he did, a calm voice reached his ears
"Now you know who's boss, right?"
Corey raised his head, and with an emotionless gaze, he looked at Divine, who was leaning against the wall of the room while crossing his arms. A small smile could be seen on his lips as a satisfied gleam appeared in his eyes.
"How were you able to enter? How did you enter without me knowing, and how did you become invisible?"
Corey asked, and Divine raised his brows.I think you should take a look at
"Oh. The answer to your first question is rather easy. Value points."
A tinge of amusement appeared in Divine's eyes as he replied to Corey's first question.
Meanwhile, Corey had a slight frown hearing Divine's reply to his question.
"As for the second and third questions. Hmm…"
Divine paused. He raised his left leg, and with his hand on his chin, he placed his left foot on the wall.
"I was able to do all of that because of this."
Divine said, and he raised his middle finger at Corey with a light smile.
Although Corey knew what the gesture meant, he decided to ignore it and focus on what was on Divine's middle finger.
"This is called, uhm. The Vanishing Ring."
A soft chuckle escaped Divine's lips as he spoke out the name of the object on his finger.
"And, from the name, you should already know what it does…. By the way, if you want. I can rent it out to you… for a price of course."
Divine spoke once again, and Corey's gaze shifted from the ring to Divine's face, which had a light, harmless smile.
"Oh, by the way. Don't forget the money you owe me."
Divine spoke, and Corey furrowed his brows.
"What money?"
"Tsk Tsk Tsk. You have such a bad memory Corey. How could you have forgotten the remaining fifty thousand value points you owe me?"
Hearing Divine's words, Corey tilted his head, and a tinge of confusion appeared in his eyes.
"How am I owing you fifty thousand value points?"
Corey asked, and a cunning glint appeared deep within Divine's eyes, unnoticed by Corey.
"You borrowed a hundred thousand value points from me, and you only paid me back fifty thousand value points, so it's remaining fifty thousand value points. Have you forgotten?"
Divine spoke with a harmless smile, and the confusion deep within Corey's eyes vanished. His gaze became more emotionless, and without saying anything, he turned away from Divine and placed his dual battle axes in the storage space of his Tri-Pupil Eyes.
A strange glint appeared in Divine's eyes as he noticed the disappearance of the dual battle axes.
'That was an instantaneous spatial transfer. Transferring to the inventory given by the Universal System should not be that fast… What sort of secrets are you keeping Smile Reaper?'
A soft chuckle escaped Divine's lips, and although Corey was confused as to why Divine chuckled, he ignored it and spoke:
"Why are you here Divine?"
"Oh yeah!"
Divine exclaimed as he slapped his forehead.
"Triple X has a match, and I wanted to take you to watch the match. You've not watched a match, right?"
Corey tilted his head for a few seconds, then he nodded, and Divine seeing his nod smiled and clapped.
"Great. Though, even if you refused to watch the match, I'd have dragged you there myself."
Divine spoke then he walked to the door of the room. Corey gazed at Divine's back for a few seconds, and then he looked around the room before following Divine.
"Watching a match is a much different experience from participating in one. You'll enjoy it. You can shout as much as you want, argue as much as you want, and sometimes even fight a few guys, though you can't kill anybody. Killing is disallowed… but if you have enough value points, then you can kill as much as you want."
As soon as Corey reached Divine's side, Divine spoke, and Corey briefly glanced at him before looking away, not giving any response to Divine's words.
Divine's lips twitched, and he also decided not to say anything. But to Divine's surprise, some seconds later, Corey called out to him.
"Divine."
"Hmm?"
"How long have you been spying on me."
Corey stopped walking, and with a stoic expression, he looked at Divine after speaking.
Divine stopped, and a confused expression appeared on his face as he tilted his head.
"Uhm. I wasn't spying on you. The time I called you was when I entered your room. I just entered a few seconds before calling you."
Divine replied, and Corey continued to gaze at him. His emotionless eyes stared straight into Divine's eyes, unsettling Divine slightly.
"Can you like, stop looking at me like that? It's creepy… Besides, I'm not a creepy person, and I don't spy on my friends."
"Chill out man."
Divine spoke, and without waiting for Corey's reply, he walked away while secretly wiping away a drop of sweat on his forehead.
Meanwhile, Corey continued to gaze at Divine's back for a few seconds, then he released a sigh and followed after Divine.
