Chapter 258 257: What Did You See?
[What did you see?]
Nina's voice resounded in Corey's mind, awakening him from his chaotic state of mind.
Corey was startled by Nina's voice, and for a few seconds he kept on looking at nothing in particular in a daze.
His eyes kept on flickering with the images he briefly saw in those two seconds of his frozen state.
Nina was not angry by Corey's lack of response since she knew what exactly had happened to him. She had seen Paragons and Demi-Paragons reacting in various ways whenever they experienced what Corey experienced.
And to be honest, she was quite surprised by Corey's rather calm reaction.
It took a while before Corey was able to come back to reality, and when he did, he exhaled deeply.
[So, what did you see?]
Nina asked, and Corey looked at the tranquil lake before him.
"My death."
Corey responded calmly, and the reflection in the lake changed to the vision he had seen, and Corey's pupils shook.
[Hmm. As expected.]
[The owner's death is usually the first thing that's shown.]
"What do you mean?"
Corey looked away from the lake, and he looked at nothing in particular.
It was strange since it seemed like Corey was a mad man who was talking to himself.
[Can you remember when I told you that the Tri-Pupil Eyes have the ability to see the past, present, and future.?]
Corey nodded.
[Well, there's a reason the Paragon Ancestor always advises Demi-Paragons to choose the Tri-Pupil Eyes first.]
[It's because the Tri-Pupil Eyes has the ability to spontaneously show the future.]
[What the Tri-Pupil Eyes shows, and when it shows the future cannot be predicted.]
[It's completely random.]
Corey had a complex expression as he heard Nina's words. He didn't know what to feel, or what to say after getting this information.
The reason for this was because of what he saw.
The vision his Tri-Pupil Eyes changed confused him since he could not himself dying in such a manner.
"Are the visions always correct?"
[Visions of the future stop being correct the moment one has information regarding the future.]
[Even the slightest things can change a vision of the future.]
Nina said, and Corey remained silent.
lightsΝοvεl ƈοm He knew that Nina's words were right.
The moment somebody knows about the future, something would always change, and the future would no longer be the same.
[How did you die?]
Nina asked, and a tinge of fear appeared in his eyes as he remembered the vision of his death.
"I saw myself on a narrow road that was made of glass. Around me were countless broken glass that emitted a black gas. I had countless broken glass on my body, and I bled and... cried."
"Even when I was dying, I picked up the broken glass on the floor and hugged them while crying tears of blood."
"This continued until I walked off the narrow glass road, and jumped into a bottomless abyss."
As Corey spoke, his body shivered, and his pupils dilated and shook. His hands trembled continuously, while sweat dripped from his body like a waterfall.
When Nina heard Corey's description of his death, she remained quiet for a minute, and if Corey knew her thoughts, he would be baffled.
[Hey. Do you want my advice?]
Nina spoke after seeing Corey's condition which was not improving. She was not surprised by this since she knew what his vision meant.
Corey blinked, and he looked at his trembling hands in a daze.
Despite Nina questioning him, he didn't reply, and his mind kept on replaying the scenes of his death.
[If you want to have a chance of survival. Then learn every skill, and equip every item you stole from the Emporium's treasury.]
[You'll need them you lucky bastard.]
After saying those words, with her last sentence being a whisper, Nina went silent, and decided that she had said more than enough.
She didn't plan on speaking as much she did, but the activation of Corey's Tri-Pupil Eyes compelled her to.
Although, she knew what the vision meant, and even expected Corey's fate to be similar to that, she didn't expect that Corey's first vision would be something like that.
[Were you involved in the activation of his Eyes Lord Ancestor?]
Nina mused, and she decided to watch Corey.
She had a feeling that the activation of Corey's Tri-Pupil Eyes was not completely natural. Only one person had the ability to force the activation of the Tri-Pupil Eyes, and that person was the Paragon Ancestor.
And, if the Paragon Ancestor decided to do so, he was definitely telling her to assist him in her own way just this once.
She didn't know why the Paragon Ancestor who was known to be harsh and brutal towards Paragons and Demi-Paragons that were not his direct descendants would decide to help Corey.
[Wait! Doesn't that mean that this kid already has a worthy accomplishment.]
[Getting the Paragon Ancestor to help him as a tier 1 without asking is definitely an accomplishment.]
[I wonder how those guys would feel.]
A strange expression appeared on Nina's facial expression as she thought of the possible troubles Corey might face in the future.
[I guess I'll just watch and eat some popcorn.]
Nina shrugged, then she went back to observing Corey.
Meanwhile, after Corey heard Nina's words on how to increase his chances of survival, a flicker of hope emerged in his eyes.n)-o/(v-/e)/l)(b(-I-)n
Normally, Corey was not the type of person to give up if he saw a vision or heard a prophecy concerning his death. It was just that, the vision he saw baffled him to the extreme, and it also gave him a feeling of hopelessness.
The thing that shook Corey was that he didn't understand anything about the vision.
Why would he be in a place that was surrounded by glass?
Why would he be crying and hugging shards of glass with an extremely pained expression?
What sort of power could make him see broken pieces of glass as something he cared for like his family?
As something he would be willing to die for?
What kind of power was that?
And how did he expect to defend against that sort of power?
Increase his mental manipulation resistance?
But to what extent?
And how could he stop himself from entering such an environment?
Corey did not know, and he had a feeling that he would not be able to escape that environment no matter what.
He had already given in to despair, but when Nina told him that to increase his chance of survival, he should use everything he took from the Emporium treasury, hope appeared in his eyes.
Without hesitation, he sat down and brought out the scroll that contained the skill- Obscura Force.
