An EMP not only stopped the nuclear fusion reaction at the Target Low Temperature Nuclear Fusion Energy Tower, but it also plunged the entire Aircrew Base into darkness, where only a few emergency lights, which were resistant to nuclear, biological, and chemical threats, continued to operate,
while the backup power system was still under repair, uncertain of when it would come back online to provide limited basic electricity supply.
Having just carefully emerged from the surrounded shed constructed with standard containers like a "maze," Chen Fei was suddenly met with a barrage of shots in the dark, likely from both friend and foe; after all, who else would foolishly march into everyone's line of sight in such darkness if not a total fool, and who would they shoot if not him?
What else could Chen Fei do but play dead?
Old Master Barut of the Neanderthal tribe, who was far behind, was both amused and frustrated. Under the cover of night, he moved like a phantom, his cold weapon "Blood Spike" taking full advantage of the situation, continuously claiming the lives of the assailants.
The adversaries had planned meticulously, fully aware that while optical invisibility equipment might fail due to the EMP, the pitch-black base color provided the best visual protection under the cover of darkness unless a new light source appeared, which would cause no disturbance.
"Old Master, leave one alive for me!"
Upon hearing screams, Chen Fei stopped playing dead, quickly got up, and rushed towards the source of the screams.
"What are you doing?"
Seeing Chen Fei pursued by a hail of bullets, Barut quickly dodged further away, afraid of becoming collateral damage.
He didn't have the young man's invincibility to bullets; getting shot would still end him.
"Just seizing the opportunity while it's hot."
Chen Fei pulled out the "Blood Spike" from an attacker's neck, saw that the man was still barely alive, and quickly stabbed again, directly into the brain, causing the opponent to shudder and die on the spot.
System: Ding! Discovered unknown alloy 112.531 kilograms, proceed to absorb: Yes/No|?
Of course, choose "No"!
Otherwise, Old Master would definitely fight him to the death.
System: Ding! Successfully killed one person!
System: Within 24 hours, successfully kill 10 people (Mission accomplished 1/10), obtain Energy Points 200 (Fail to complete the task on time, death!)
Hiding nearby, the Neanderthal tribe elder was dumbfounded. What kind of sneaky move was this?
Chen Fei checked a few more attackers nearby and found another one barely alive; talk about luck!
Puff!~
System: Ding! Successfully killed one person!
System: Within 24 hours, successfully kill 10 people (Mission accomplished 2/10), obtain Energy Points 200 (Fail to complete the task on time, death!)
Old Master was almost delirious!
Picking up bargains should never be this easy; what on earth was this youngster up to.
He probably couldn't figure it out even if he racked his brains.
"Old Master, you keep going, I'll cover you!"
Chen Fei didn't know where Barut was hiding, but leaving behind the "Blood Spike" was definitely right; the other party would recover it on his own.
Pop!~
A bright white light orb flew into the sky, illuminating the ground below as if it were daylight.
A figure stood conspicuously in the middle of the main runway on the open grassland, arms spread wide, screaming boldly.
Both adversaries believed they had uncovered yet another card in each other's hands.
"Chen Fei, don't run around, come over here!"
A gust of wind swept through, carrying the relentless flames into the sky, as bright as a flare.
The sounds of rapid gunfire resumed, accompanied by exchanges of rockets and grenades, shaking the ground violently.
Chen Fei heard someone calling him and immediately recognized it was Manager Hanna's voice.
He was about to run to her when he heard Old Master Barut calling him too.
"Kid, come with me!"
Which side should he choose?
Faced with indecision, he was struck by two stray bullets, his head nearly splitting open. Ultimately, Chen Fei chose to follow the old man from the Neanderthal tribe.
Manager Hanna Gagel, commanding the counterattack, waited in vain and stomped her feet in frustration.
The attackers were unexpectedly well-equipped, not only with elite warriors possessing optical invisibility equipment but also supernatural power users and mages.
In the entire Aircrew Base, the only specialized combat personnel were Hanna Gagel, a C-level Wind-type Ability User, and the newly minted Metal Ability User Chen Fei, who yet had no clue about combat skills.
The latter's ineptitude was so frustrating that it exasperated both friends and foes; standing blatantly exposed made him a living target, a mockery of everyone's intelligence. Did he learn nothing in college?
Perhaps another from the Third Era Civilization, a Neanderthal tribe warrior, could be considered a bit of high-level combat strength, but Hanna Gagel had no expectations there.
With his feeble and elderly demeanor, it was good enough that the old man didn't fall back; he might as well stay wherever it was safe and save the company some condolence money.
In the dark, a chant in a lilting tone was heard.
Hanna Gagel's heart sank. She had to guard against an unknown number of supernatural power users and deal with a mage of unknown level preparing his ultimate move, feeling overwhelmed.
The potentially helpful Chen Fei had frustratingly not come to join her, leaving her to fend for herself in this tough situation.
Boom!
Amidst a deafening explosion, flames shot up into the sky.
Several figures were blown into the air, limbs flying chaotically.
They were from the enemy's side!
Once Hanna Gagel recognized the direction, she was overjoyed.
When the enemies initiated their ambush, the Aircrew Base suffered heavy casualties due to inadequate preparedness. Luckily, she and her team from the Ministry of Internal Affairs responded quickly, rallying hard to regain control of the chaotic frontline.
This required them to make a split-second decision to abandon the secondary command bunker underground air-raid facility, guarding hangars 1 and 2 while concentrating their forces to confront the attackers.
System: Ding! Successfully killed one person!
System: Ding! Successfully killed one person!
System: Ding! Successfully killed one person!
Chen Fei tore the pin from a high-energy bomb and grinned wickedly at a terrified mage, barely holding onto his magic wand nearby.
Let's die together then!
"No, don't—ah, please..."
