But Sam also wasn't slow; he already created a light shield in front of him the moment he saw that poison frame ball. Now both of the attacks clashed against each other. The surrounding area already got damaged because of the impact.

Most likely that Monster thought Sam won't notice him or something like that. But in the next moment, Sam once again created a sun ray and shot that toward that monster.
