Chapter 209 Reon Tries

Atama first took Reon to Eya and Kakashi. They were unaware of such a person, they knew someone was playing with Hitori except Kamiya, but never knew it would be a girl.

While standing in front of the Vr-cade, Atama said, "You should go home."

"I can not…" she replied, "if I did, I might never see the light again. Onogi is behind me, I think I am safe here. Do not worry, I will find a place, do a part-time job, and feed myself."

"You are dropping out of your school?"

"My parents do not have money to support my education. They were going to put a halt to my education after the third year. They were just nervous to tell me, so I overheard them."

Atama wanted to pet her head. She was going through a hard time. "Do you know why I have brought you here? Perhaps you will find a job here."

"Ha, ha, that would be great," she said in a sweet voice.

Eya turned to the front door when Atama stepped inside with a girl. He introduced her to them, then said, "She was here for the funeral. She needs to know what happened."

Eya examined Reon. Kakashi was neutral about it. "Please. If I do not make things right with Hitori-san, we will both die, even you would not be able to stop it, it will happen at such timing."

"Just like it happened in the forest. We all were present, but we could do nothing," Kakashi leaned off the wall. "We should hear her out."

She told her everything from the start to the finish. Her relationship with the duo, then their conflict, her kidnapping and torturing, and her reaction when the news of Kamiya and Kuzu's death hit her.

She said she ran the moment she found out Kuzu was dead. And Kamiya's news was all over the papers and internet. Before Onogi could hunt her, she packed her bags and ran from her house.

She spent time here and there while waiting for her visa, but then realized she needs to hurry because she saw Onogi's men looking for her.

Eya got up after hearing Reon's story. "You are staying here. I will make space for your bed to fit. I can not see more of Hitori-san's friends dying."

Reon took a step into the house. Her heart was racing faster than ever. She wondered what Hitori might do. Will he forgive her? No, that has the least possibility of happening.

She saw Hitori staring at her with anger. She remembered he still hates her. "Hitori-san… I am—"

Hitori was not in the mood to listen. He was boiling with anger when he saw her face, that too, in his house! He pointed at her and said:

"No. God damn it!" Hitori grabbed the box of meds and raced towards his room. "Leave the house, traitor!"

He banged the door. Kakashi dropped his head, he knew this was going to happen. Hitori could not take Reon's presence after all.

Atama was purely disappointed, he had never hoped Hitori would get caught up in a misunderstanding so bad. Even Hiro never did something like this when he was angry at Kaori… he rarely got mad at her. Maybe Hitori gained his mother's traits… he thought.

Atama creased his forehead and said, "For putting Kamiya's father in a coma, you will be punished. Your punishment will be to guide the most troublesome second years to their dorm after summer. If you do not show up, you will lose every protection from us," he said.

Her heart burst like a balloon. She could not handle being called THAT anymore. She dropped her head and started weeping. Atama walked to her and put a hand over her shoulder.

He gave Kakashi a last glance, then stepped out of the house, and teleported.

Kakashi unfolded his hands and went to Hitori's room.

"I do not know what happened, but this is the right time to stop acting like a teen."

"I am a teen. J-Just leave. Thanks for helping me."

"Talk to her. It is not what you think. If she was responsible for that Kamiya boy's death, she would not have come to meet you, to make things right between you and her. She is guilty, it was her fault, she agrees, but do not mark her as a full-blown traitor."

"That is because she is a traitor!" Hitori said in a calm but powerful tone. "Do not get too close to her, do not act friendly with her. She will wrong you too—"

"So now you are saying Atama-sensei's decision to bring a scientist to your house was wrong?"

"Y-Yes…"

"If you were in front of me right now, I would have punched you!" Kakashi banged on the door, scaring the shit out of Hitori. "Atama-sensei's decision has never been wrong. If he brought a scientist to your house, gave her a place to live, gave her food and protection; then you better believe she is something."

"She is something. A good actor—"

"Enough with your bullshit. I do not know what the hell has got to you, but you are a jerk. Alright. Shove your arrogance up your fucking ass."

Hitori did not reply. He stayed inside, on the bed, with his legs to his chest, waiting for Kakashi to say something. But he never heard from Kakashi again that day.

Atama and Reon appeared in front of the Vr-cade. Eya, who was watching the customers, greeted her with a smile. "Guess what! Your bed is ready, go take a look!" She pointed at the staff room.

Reon glanced at Atama, and he nodded. She stopped at the counter and said, "Thank you, Eya-nee. Thanks for understanding my situation."

"It is alright. I always wanted to hang out with someone younger than me, you know, like a sister or brother."

Reon smiled and went to check her bed in the staff room. Then Atama stopped at the counter. Eya's smile faded, she was expecting the worst, and from Reon's expressions, she knew the worst had happened.

"Hitori is on the edge," Atama said, "if someone does not pull him now, no one would be after he walls into the pit of madness and insanity."

"Is not that for what she is with us. If she somehow manages to make Hitori open up with her, they will clear their misunderstanding and makeup."

"What do you think about her?" Atama asked, looking at the door.

Eya followed his glance. "She is innocent. She sacrificed her pinky finger for Kamiya and Hitori-san."

"Huh? Did she?" Atama frowned.

"If what she told us is true, then my decision is: She is guilty, but not fully responsible for what happened."

"I would like to believe her story is true. If it is not, we are making a huge mistake."

"You have never made a mistake before. Not even when you gave Hitori his father's wand– although he is not using it, though."

Atama sighed. "I still think I should have kept it with me."
