And what could stop them?
Reon went behind the kitchen turn, standing a few meters away from the shield. The tip of her gun peeked from the side of the wall.
Hitori stepped backward, staring at Tengoku as he stared back at him. They both held cold expressions against each other. Hitori turned and walked to the left side, into the woods.
Akira was in the woods parallel to the shield while Hitori was adjacent to the shield. He was holding his wand at Tengoku from the dark, not visible to Tengoku at all.
Hitori pushed himself into the darkness, too, raising his wand at the spot from where Tengoku would enter. He did not bother hiding in the dark.
From here on, Tengoku would have to pinpoint only one person, but Hitori had told them to go in three different directions based on the threat to them.
His prime targets were Reon, hiding in perhaps the best place; Hitori, hiding in the place most difficult to reach. Akira was straight ahead, hidden in the dark, an easy target, but Tengoku would not attack him unless he just wants to kill someone today.
"When are we doing it?" he asked in an annoyed voice. "I do not have the whole day. I just have the time till those fucking woods are not moving on their own anymore"
Hitori held his breath as tight s he held his wand. He was thinking of a spell, any spell that could first make it impossible for Tengoku to move, then torture him till he died. But he realized he was out of time.
"Akira, open the shield."
Akira nodded and lifted his wand. "Eya-nee, I have a favor to ask of you. Open a door in the shield, big enough for Tengoku to pass. We are going to deal with him ourselves."
,m He was expecting rejection from her side, but he was determined to force her somehow. But when he heard her reply, he was paralyzed. "What shield?"
"I-I know you do not want us to take that step, but no need to pretend like there is no shield. We saw it, we can still feel it." His voice was shaky, scared to hear an 'I do not know what shield you are talking about,' reply from her.
"What shield, Akira? I do not know about any shield!" And he received the same reply. Heck with it.
"If you do not want to—"
"It is not about wanting or not. Wait there, we are coming."
Panic rushed to him. Tengoku would feel cheated. This was playing dirty. "No!" he shouted, loud enough for Hitori to hear. "C-Check the shield on your side. Fire something in the air and watch it hit the shining barrier."
"Wait." She took a pause, then she came back. "Y-You are right. It IS a shield! But I swear to god, Akira, it is not mine. I would not be talking to you right now if it was mine."
With the shower of bullets from the rifles, of course, she would not be talking to him right now. So he believed her. But that arose a new problem.
"Then who created this shield? It can not be Kyo-san, can it?"
"No, no," Eya said. "I… it is…"
"The Guardian." he stammered. Akira's hand started trembling on the wand. "It is… yes."
"Hitori-san. Tell him. Quick!"
Akira lowered his wand and turned to Hitori. He stepped out of the woods, revealing himself to Tengoku. "Hitori!" he shouted. "The shield. It is not Eya-nee's shield."
Hitori emerged from the dark. He heard it wrong, he had definitely heard it wrong. "What did you say?"
"The Guardian. He is holding the shield. It is not hers!"
The green glow was brighter than ever. From Hitori's spot, it was clearly visible. After considering the odds of the Guardian creating a shield… most of them were negative. If he created the shield and he is working with Tengoku, then he will open it anytime and let them die.
If he was working with Tengoku, how come he could use magic? Then Hitori remembered about the wizard who created a dungeon, pulled Kamiya in, then was killed. The dungeon broke down, throwing everyone out of it.
Tengoku laughed. "Oh, I fucking knew it," he said. "How could you agree? You are too much of a coward to agree with such a dangerous plan. You pussies!"
He swung his katana on the shield. Sparks emerged from the metal blade on striking. He did it again, moving like a weak flower, swinging his arms around.
"Bastards! Fuck you. I will find a way. Oh, I will. Today, I am not going back unless I take your head with me. Fuck this."
That was a change in his attitude. He sounded and looked more creepy than ever. He moved like a skeleton attached to strings. His arms swung the katana as if they had no bones in it. His katana stood straight and rigid as it clashed with the shield.
Tengoku let go of his body's balance. Then like a drunken man, he swung from one side to the other, striking the shield after alternate swings.
Hitori clicked his tongue. This was not the plan. Why was the Guardian stepping in between? Why now? He turned and signaled Akira to hear him. "Go behind the house and tell that—"
Akira frowned before Hitori could even complete his sentence. "You are insane! I am not going there. Never. Not alone."
Something moved, or it was just Hitori's imagination. But then it happened again. Behind Akira, behind the house, it moved. The green glow shifted from one side to the other. And Hitori's face turned pale.
He turned to the shield and saw it shine. It was a warning. Just the way Eya's shield shone before shifting and letting the bullets inside.
"Move!" Hitori shouted, shoving Akira into the woods.
Reon hid, then Hitori turned to run back into the woods.
The shining shield opened a door, larger than Tengoku's size, he passed through it easily. With the use of momentum, he swung his katana straight into the woods ahead.
His hand went on his gun, then he turned as he drew his cock, and cocked it. He moved his gun to the left and pointed it into the woods, then he jumped backward in the opposite direction.
"You are dead!" he shouted as he pulled the trigger.
