Chapter 27 - “The director team informed us that they no longer need us for the new role.” (5)

Gu Nian didn’t find that subject particularly interesting and only carried on with her texting. Assistant Director Lin, on the other hand, did not let her off the hook so easily. In fact, he said to her in a very instigating tone as he took a step to the side, “Look, that’s that girl who took your work from you. Director Geng had been treading lightly around her since he found out that she was that Mengzhi who wrote Enlightened Me.”

“……”

With Assistant Director Lin’s enthusiastic “invitation” to look, Gu Nian felt that she should show some sort of a response. She had no choice but to climb the remaining two steps of stairs and looked over in that direction.

Gu Nian, who had planned to take off after just one glance, stiffened the second she looked over…

The woman who was pretty enough to have attracted the attention of half the workers at the canteen seemed to be waiting for someone and was sitting inside impatiently.

She looked very familiar from head to toe.

If she was to change back into her form-fitting red short skirt, she would look even more familiar.

There was a moment of silence in the air.

Assistant Director Lin smiled and said, “What do you think? She’s very pretty, right? She has a strong family background and lots of resources in addition to her fame and fan base of being Mengzhi. She isn’t one that any regular person can afford to offend. I urge you to watch your word choice in a little bit and not to offend her.”

Gu Nian, “……”

Not to offend her?

It still might not be too late for her to go and have a plastic surgery right now?

Assistant Director Lin, “Let me go say hi to her first and you come in in a little while. Act natural and pretend that you just happened to be here.”

“…okay.”

Assistant Director Lin walked inside the door and Gu Nian had already returned to her normal languid state from her earlier shock. Leaning against the way and shaking her foot with her white sneaker, something just occurred to her all of a sudden.

It didn’t matter that she had offended Zhang Xiying; but she couldn’t let her precious son fall into that trap!

The thought of the witch having her ways with her kind, simple, innocent, and docile precious son had Gu Nian stood straight up as though she had been recharged.

She typed away on her screen so hard and fast that sparks could also been seen coming from it…

[The woman who bullied you the other night was Zhuo Yixuan, the production team’s screenwriter by name. You must stay away from her. Don’t worry if something happens; just call me!]

[And the stairs at the canteen are hazardous. Try not to come and, if you must come, just be careful.]

Gu Nian let out a sigh of relief after she had finished typing her message.

Ding!

Ding!

Two mechanical chimes came in one after another with about 3 ~ 4 seconds in between them. By the time Gu Nian heard the second chime, it came from just a few steps below her.

Gu Nian paused for a little and turned her head.

Standing on the platform in the middle of the flight of stairs some 7 ~ 8 steps from her, the tall man put down her cellphone and his brown eyes sparked behind the thin lens.

His attitude seemed mild with a hint of distance. “Miss Gu.”

“?!”

Gu Nian looked like she had just gone from being 2% charge to full charge and immediately charged down the stairs.

Luo Xiu was taken aback.

He lifted his hands reflexively. Judging from the way the girl was hurling herself at him, he felt for sure that she would come tumbling down the stairs.

Miraculously, she made it down safely.

She was aggressive though. Shoving Luo Xiu against the wall aggressively.

“Shhhh!”

Luo Xiu’s body stiffened.

It took him a couple of seconds before he was able to suppress his emotions and lowered his eyes.

The girl who was pressing up against him had now turned and looked upstairs in a frenzy.

Nobody walked outside of the door.

Gu Nian still looked very anxious. “That woman is inside of the canteen right now. Talk softly. We wouldn’t want her to hear you.”

Half way through turning around, Gu Nian frowned with worries. Pondering with her head lowered, she said, “I suspect that you are the reason that she suddenly wanted to take over the task of adding the additional character.”

“……”

Not getting any responses, Gu Nian looked up and suddenly came to the realization that her hand was still over his mouth.

“Oh, my gosh. I am so sorry.” Gu Nian quickly backed away, not forgetting to keep her voice lowered.

Luo Xiu lifted his hand and gently stroked his lips that could still feel the lingering unfamiliar warmth on it. Behind his thin lens, he looked up, his eyes and his smile cold, “What do you mean by I am the reason?”

Gu Nian recollected herself and seriously warned her precious son who had no idea of all the ugly truth in this circle. “I think she wanted to take advantage of you using her role as the screenwriter.”

After her warning, Gu Nian noticed that not only did her precious son not seem surprised at all, he was looking at her with a smile that was a smile on him.

His look seemed to be very suggestive.

“So she is the one who wanted to take advantage of me?”

Gu Nian, “……?”

Why was her precious son looking at her that way?

Author’s rambling:

Luo Xiu: I thought it was you [who wanted to take advantage of me]?

Gu Nian: ?

Gu Nian: The lord as my witness, the only thing that I have for you is motherly love. QwQ!
