Chapter 91 - “Then everything would be worthwhile.” (2)

Luo Xiu, “June 16.”

Luo Xiu, “And do you also remember that today is your…”

“Birthday.” Luo Xiu interrupted it, “What is it that you are trying to say?”

The little assistant said with hatred, “You really can’t fall for this fox demon anymore! Have you forgotten that you have stated that you never celebrate your birthday?”

“Mmm.”

Luo Xiu responded to him perfunctorily. His eyes lowered as though emotionlessly. His fine but thick eyelashes casted shadows on him and his side profile seemed almost nonchalant.

The little assistant asked again without giving up, “Are you really going to go?”

“I have made her a promise.”

“But, with Brother Luo’s resourcefulness, even if you have made a promise, aren’t there many different approaches you can take prevent the course of events from happening without breaking your promise?”

Luo Xiu, “Perhaps.”

The little assistant said quickly, “Then you should come up with something quickly! She has a boyfriend and obviously impure intention toward you. If you two get tangled up even more and words get out, your reputation will…”

“Do you know me very well?”

With a low and dull hint of smile, the inexplicably cold voice rang.

The little assistant froze on the spot.

It was then when he realized that he had been around the seemingly easy-going, gentle, and harmless Luo Xiu for too long. So long that he had forgotten something important.

That he was Luo Xiu’s assistant and it was his job to follow his orders and not the other way round.

The little assistant lowered his head regretfully. “I’m sorry, Brother Luo. I, I am just worried. If there are any rumors about you, Sister Anna would be mad at me not doing my job well.”

“That is fine. You have been working for me for two years now and do know me quite well.” Luo Xiu smiled lightly. “And that is exactly why you should also realize that…”

“?”

The little assistant looked up at loss.

Then he saw that the brown eyes that were hidden behind the golden-rimmed spectacles were cold like amber.

His eyes were indifferent but he had a light smile on his face that was lowered…

“I never hold myself to a high moral standard.”

“… … … …?”

The little assistant was stupefied.

Stunned, he saw that Luo Xiu had turned and walked back to the girl who was still waiting where she was after he was done talking. The girl smiled at his boss, said something to him, and then his boss smiled as well.

Unlike the kind of smile that he gave to anyone else, in which he had a smile on him but his emotion seemed to be chilled to the bones, when his boss was looking at that girl, even his smile seemed lively.

Even the emotions in the bottom of his eyes were colorful.

The little assistant finally recollected himself and squatted down while grabbing onto his own hair after the two of them had completely disappeared from his sight. “OOOOOOOOHHHHH Boss, you can have feelings for anyone; why does it have to be the fox demon who is married?!!”

It was very quiet in the hallway and nobody answered his question.

Something suddenly occurred to the little assistant. He bounced up from where he was, whipped out his phone, and dialed a number.

When the phone was picked up from the other end, he couldn’t help but started shrieking –

“Miss Anna. Something awful had happened!!”

“… …”

Gu Nian could still seemingly feel the grieving look coming from behind her even after they had walked inside of the cooking smoke of the little town and onto the uneven cobble stoned road.

She turned around and looked behind herself anxiously.

“What’s the matter?” asked Luo Xiu when he noticed that.

“Nothing.” Gu Nian hesitated a little and turned back around. “Do you think it’s fine that we just left Zhu Hanyu there back in the hotel?”

“What is so wrong about that?”

“Uh, not much. I just felt that the way he was looking at me when we took off, I might as well have been the woman who had taken the newly-wedded groom away from the bride…”
