Chapter 121- "I just want to talk. Let's head into the dressing room." (2)

By the time it was done, she was already so tired that she couldn’t even keep her eyes open, her head nodded from time to time.

The assistant makeup artist was about to wake her up when the makeup artist stopped her with the handle of her brush. As he put away his makeup supplies, he was too resentful to even look at her when he said, “Let her sleep for a little while. Just keep an eye out so she doesn’t mess up the makeup. Where did the director team find this little screenwriter? Anyone who didn’t know better would think that we still have slavery in our society. She looks like she hadn’t been sleeping in days.”

The assistant makeup artist couldn't help but smiled, “She’s very loveable, isn’t she? You didn’t even believe me when I told you last time and thought that she had somehow orchestrated the opportunity to be the body double – see? How’s that possible?”

The makeup artist hrumped and said, “More working, less talking. Go wrap up.”

The assistant makeup artist stuck their tongue out quickly and was just about to walk away when they suddenly remembered something. “Oh, right. Have you seen Mei Jiating?”

“Who?”

“The fourth female lead. The one that Master Ding applies makeup for.”

“Why would I see her?”

“No… when Gu Nian came in, she nagged me to keep an eye out for her and must let her know immediately when Mei Jiating comes to have makeup done.”

“Why? Do the two of them have beef with each other?”

The makeup artist was just throwing up mean words mindlessly; lo and behold, the assistant makeup artist nodded seriously. “I think so. Look at how easy-going screenwriter Xiao Gu is. You should have seen her when she talked about Mei Jiating. She was short of having flames coming out of her eyes.”

The makeup artist’s hands paused in midair.

He wrinkled his nose and gave it some thought. “The one who wouldn’t go anywhere without her limited-edition Gucci purse, right? She was next in line to have her makeup applied. I don’t think I’d miss her if I had seen her.”

“Alright. I’ll keep an eye out then. I’ll let screenwriter Xiao Gu knows when she wakes up.”

“Mmm.”

“… …”

“Oh, wait.”

“?”

The assistant makeup artist was on her way out when she was stopped again. She saw her boss having the resentful look on him again. “Tell you, she can get into a shouting match but not a fight. If she must fight, wait until after the scene was shot. I don’t want to have to reapply makeup on her.”

The little makeup artist busted out laughing. “Alright. Alright.”

Gu Nian slept all the way until the assistant makeup artist woke her up subtly.

She hasn’t even opened her eyes yet when she heard someone whispering next to her, “Aye, wake up, Gu Nian. Mei Jiating is about to take off. Hurry up.”

Gu Nian grumbled while still dreaming, “Family-less? Who’s fam…” (TN: “Mei Jiating” sounds like “family-less”)

Mei Jiating!

The started of the rumor whom she spent three days’ time to track down!!

Gu Nian was wide awake immediately and popped right back up from the makeup chair.

The assistant makeup artist, who was pretending to be plugging something in, was started. Still squatting down, she cocked her head as she looked at Gu Nian. “Don’t mess up the makeup. You have never seen my boss throwing his makeup case at others. He would chase you around the studio 300 times and he didn’t care if you are a man or a woman.”

Gu Nian, “… …”

Gu Nian immediately toned herself down some.

She brushed back the delicately treated and smooth long hair hanging down next to her ear and called out to the Mei Jiating, the fourth female lead, who was just about to get up from her makeup chair.

Hearing Gu Nian, Mei Jiating turned around.

When she saw that it was Gu Nian who called out to her, she looked a bit awkward but put on a smile nonetheless. “Something’s the matter, Screenwriter Gu?”

“Yes, there is something that I want to talk to you about.” Gu Nian waved at her. “Let’s taslk in the dressing room.”

Perhaps because Gu Nian had just been woken up and was still groggy, even though she had full makeup and long hair that made her look extremely delicate and oh so tender, her lack of expression along with languid and slightly dimmed eyes still allow her to exude a female gangster feel.

The type that had on knee-length skirt with a long pony tail, however.

No wonder Mei Jiating stopped where she was and remained motionless for a few seconds after Gu Nian had spoken.

The little makeup artist was still squatting down. She tugged at the bottom of Gu Nian’s pants and whispered to her, “You are coming across too mean.”

“Am I?” asked Gu Nian softly.

Right when Gu Nian was trying to figure out how to invite her prey into the trap with her still-groggy brain, Mei Jiating began to move.

Swaying that curvy waist of her that everybody in the cast had raved about, she walked toward Gu Nian. “Sure. If there’s something that Screenwriter Gu wishes to talk about, let’s hurry up. We wouldn’t want to hold up the filming.”

“Mmm.”

Gu Nian didn’t care that Mei Jiating had taken the lead and walked with her to the front of the rest area in the dressing room.
