Sitting on one of the couches in the living room, Long Xian let out a deep sigh "It was actually one of my ministers, Bai Min who was allied with the demons."
"He was the one who mixed something in Yue'er' food, which caused her to awaken her dormant bloodline."
Long Yue's eyes trembled upon hearing this and she took a deep breath controlling her emotions.
Meanwhile, Zhang Yuan leaning back on the couch listened with a calm face while Zhang Fumin was leaning on his shoulder, sleeping peacefully.
Long Xian continued "They forced me to write a letter to bring Yue'er back to the palace."
"Putting my trust in Master Yuan's strength, I send you that letter... in hopes that you will come and help me."
Xue Hua, sitting nearby, gave a slow, thoughtful nod, her gaze sharp and assessing. "And did you ever find out why they wanted to awaken Yue's bloodline?" she asked.
"What could they possibly gain from that?"
With a nod, Long Xian explained "I heard the demon laughing and speaking to himself."
"He called Long Yue as a 'seed', and she will help them enter the realm of Sovereigns."
"They were talking something about condensing her body in a ritual that would help them to enter the Sovereign stage."
Ming Yueil, Xue Hua, and Long Yue were shocked to hear this.
Entering the Sovereign stage is the same as entering the Immortal realm.
But it was in the Sovereign Era, that many people easily ascended to the Immortal realm.
After that era, no one could condense the Golden Profound Sea which is very important to break into Sovereignty.
And in the current Era, Hong Shi, Ming Yuelin and Xue Hua are the only ones who have condensed their Golden Profound Sea... which means that even without a Sovereign Inheritance they can become Sovereigns in the future.
But people who haven't condensed the Golden Profound Sea in the earlier stages of their cultivation cannot break the shackles of mortal-hood.
And finding a Sovereign inheritance is extremely rare.
So, in a world ruled by power, Demons and Humans would go to extreme lengths to become a Sovereign.
Xue Hua, ever practical, asked, "Your Highness, did you manage to find out anything else about this ritual? Do we know exactly what they would need for it to succeed?"
Long Xian's gaze was filled with regret. "Not much, unfortunately."
Ming Yuelin broke the silence, "If this is the case, then it's not safe for us to stay here any longer."
She glanced at Long Xian with empathy. "As long as Yue's bloodline is a target, they'll continue to hunt her down. They may even put the entire dynasty at risk to get their hands on her."
"They will constantly try to pester you from now on."
Upon hearing this, Long Xian let out a deep breath.
Zhang Yuan's gaze condensed, and it seemed like he couldn't sit and watch it happen anymore; it was time to step into the game.
"Fine, let's go and kill the demons."
Eh?
She stirred, looking at the vast expanse of the sky around them, the silvery moonlight casting an ethereal glow on Zhang Yuan's face.
"Yuan'er..." she mumbled, still caught somewhere between sleep and wakefulness, her arms instinctively tightening around his shoulders.
"Fumin," he said, his voice soft but steady, "You're awake."
He shifted her slightly, adjusting his hold as they soared across the sky. "Come, we're off to destroy a Dynasty."
Her eyes widened as his words fully registered, and she blinked herself awake, her gaze searching his face. "A... Dynasty?" she muttered, a spark of excitement beginning to light in her eyes.
He nodded, his expression a mixture of calm and focus, even as they hurtled through the night. "We're dealing with some demons who have overstepped their bounds. They've endangered Yue, and it's time they understood the consequences."
...
They arrived at the heart of the demon-controlled Dynasty just as the first light of dawn began to break over the horizon.
The sky blazed with shades of orange and red, casting long shadows across the imposing fortress before them, the stronghold of their enemies.
Without a moment's hesitation, Zhang Yuan's aura surged, a powerful wave of energy rolling off him, creating ripples in the dawn air.
The entire Dynasty seemed to sense his presence; soldiers, guards, and even those within the inner sanctum felt the stirring of an ominous force that chilled them to their core.
Zhang Fumin floated beside him, her aura resonating with his, her own energy radiating a deadly calm.
Together, they descended toward the fortress.
Demons rushed to the courtyard, alerted by the immense pressure in the air, their eyes widening in terror as they recognized the strength of the intruders.
Zhang Yuan's gaze swept across the gathering demons, as he muttered "You have made a grave error,"
"Targeting those under my protection was your first-and last-mistake."
With that, he raised his hand, a surge of energy gathering around him, condensing into a bright, blinding force.
Zhang Fumin joined him, her own aura flaring to life, and together they unleashed a wave of destruction, tearing through the ranks of demons with swift, merciless precision.
The fortress walls shook under the force of their combined might, pillars crumbling, shadows fleeing.
...
By the time the sun was fully in the sky, the once-mighty Dynasty lay in ruins, the echoes of battle fading into silence.
Zhang Yuan and Zhang Fumin stood amidst the wreckage, their gazes calm, and steady.
Zhang Yuan turned to Fumin, a satisfied smile tugging at his lips. "I'd say that was a successful morning's work,"
Zhang Fumin returned his smile, her expression warm. "Agreed," she replied, her tone just as casual.
She leaned into his side, her earlier sleepiness now replaced by contentment.
"Let's take her and leave..."
"Hm."
